" I see you everywhere, in the stars, in the river; to me you're everything that exists; the reality of everything." -Virginia Woolf

When Dylan was finally able to see her, he smiled with relief. Warm salty tears were still streaming down his eyes as he got closer toward the bed.

"Gi," he whispered, taking her hand into his. "I promise that I'll keep you safe from now on, okay. Just stay by my side." He knew that there was more that he wanted to say, but he was unsure about how to say it. There was a big knot in his throat, and he knew that if he said those words he wouldn't be able to stop the sobs that would come with them.

"Gi, don't scare me like this again." he whispered, kissing the back of her hand.

Valentina and Mrs. Kendall came in and saw him by her side.

"Dylan," Mrs. Kendall said, "You can go rest, we'll take care of her."

Dylan shook his head. He didn't want to be away. He'd stay until she woke up. "I'm fine. You both should go rest."

His eyes were still glued to Regina, who was sleeping. Valentina looked at her sister, and then at Dylan. A look of suspicion appeared in her face as she looked at Dylan again.

The police officer had found the stalker, who admitted to hitting her in the head, and stabbing her thinking that it was Valentina. Mrs. Kendall had found the news even more disturbing and had hired more people to take care of Valentina and Regina as well.

It was early in the morning when Regina woke up; her head was killing her, and she tried to move her hand to her head, but wasn't able to. She looked over, and noticed that Dylan was holding onto her hand, his head laying beside it in the bed.

She felt a warmth in her stomach that rose toward her cheeks and made her blush. It almost made the pain go away, as she watched him.  However, when a nurse came into the room, he woke up and Regina looked away a bit embarrassed.

"You're awake," he said with a smile.

Regina nodded.

Dylan looked at Regina tenderly. Her sister and step-mother had come back to see her, but he was still unwilling to leave her side. Mrs. Kendall looked at him with a worried smile. "Dylan," began the woman, walking closer toward Regina's bed, "you can go and take a rest, Valentina and I will be taking care of her."

"Thank you Mrs. Kendall, but I'd like to stay a while longer."

They all knew that they couldn't drive him away, or force him out. He was legally married to her, and could stay as long as he wanted to. However, this didn't stop from annoying Valentina, who glared at him.

Dylan noticed her glare, but ignored it and looked back at Regina. "How are you feeling? Are you feeling okay?" He asked, his hand moving a stray hair toward the back of her ear.

Regina nodded. She had woken up startled and relieved. The fear of dying was suffocating and alarming. She never thought that she could ever fear death so much, but the thought of leaving Dylan, her friends and even her family made her feel afraid.

She knew that it was possibly just a friendly worry that bore inside of him, and made him so attached to her. However, a more hopeful part of her wished that he cared because he loved her as much as she loved him.

"You should go; I'll be okay." She told him, squeezing his hand reassuringly.

Dylan looked at her for a few seconds before he nodded, and let go. As he walked away, her pain began to settle back again, but she didn't let it show. She knew that he'd turn back if he heard her complain, and she worried that he'd get sick. She bit down on the inside of her lip and closed her eyes trying to hide the pain, until Dylan walked out the door.
