25 weeks...
Laid on one side were spicy dishes courtesy of the younger, and on another were more mild dishes. Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji sat eating their dinner. The two were in a comfortable silence as they did so. No conversation had to be sparked up. No one had to stare uneasily at their food as they waited for the other to say something. They were comfortable with each other that way.
Poor Wei Wuxian hadn't caught a break when it came to the baby, however. They did as they pleased. Kicking constantly, hitting his bladder, waking him in the middle of the night, etc. It was a continuous need for attention from this baby. And unfortunately, eating dinner wasn't going to stop it from doing what it did best.
"The baby won't stop kicking meee." Wei Wuxian said with a tired groan.
Lan Wangji gives an understanding smile, "I'm sorry, love."
Pointing to his stomach, "It's alright. I guess I'm just happy that they're healthy." A few moments passed in silence. However, Wei Wuxian soon winces as he says this, hunching over in pain. Trying his best to keep Lan Zhan from getting worried.
Lan Wangji was observant as ever, "Are you okay?"
They both stopped eating at this point. The older going around the table to meet the other. You could tell how uncomfortable Wei Wuxian was just from this.
"If you need a moment, it's okay."
Lan Wangji now had a hand on the other's back, rubbing in a soothing motion. Wei Wuxian straightened up, pushing the table away, "Can you help me stand?"
His husband nodded holding out his hands to help the other who still looked uncomfortable. Lan Wangji wasn't sure if they should go to see Wen Qing and Wen Ning about this. It seems like the best thing but is it necessary? They were warned of certain symptoms that would occur during this week of the pregnancy, of course.
Knowing this Lan Wangji wanted to be safe, at least providing this as an option would help to quell Wei Wuxian from his worry.
"Do you want to go see Wen Qing and Wen Ning right now?"
The other gave a dry laugh, making the awkwardness on him more noticeable, "No, I'm fine. Mmm, I think that...I'm gonna go to bed early, okay?"
"Alright. Good night darling.", said Lan Wangji as he gave a small kiss to his forehead. Wei Wuxian gave a quick a peck to his husbands cheek as he was now walking away towards their bedroom.
Pouting and rubbing his belly, he plopped onto his bedside. "Honestly, you won't let up, huh? It's too early for you to come yet, and maybe you don't understand now but you will." He let a small smile show on the sides of his cheeks, closing his eyes. He let himself think of finally being able to hold his child. No...their child. The relief and joy he'd feel.
"Alright, time for bed." He said to himself, standing carefully so he could change into something more comfortable. Once he did, he lied down, placing his pillows in their respective places, keeping himself comfortable on his side. Tiredness he hadn't felt in a while swept over him. Not long after, he drifted off to sleep.
He opened his eyes. He was standing in a completely dark room. Black as night. Nothing stood out to him. Just four black walls, a black floor, and an equally dark ceiling. He tried his best to call out to someone, anyone, Lan Wangji, but nothing. Either his voice was completely gone or he was deaf, but he wasn't sure as the room was in complete silence.
Wei Wuxian reached for his stomach, instinctively trying to rub his pregnant belly, but there was nothing to touch. What?... Where's... What the hell is going on? He wasted no time trying to sprint to one of the ends of the room, which seemed to have no end. It just kept going on...and on...and on. There's no end? Where's my baby? Lan Zhan?
