28 weeks...
Wei Wuxian pretty much looked like a balloon at this point. His belly had gotten a lot bigger now and his face was more round as the weight pulled in. Back pain, aches, and bouts of tiredness were becoming a regular thing for him too. But despite all that, he felt great! The baby wasn't as rambunctious daily and he had peaceful nights of rest. He felt like he could take on the world...until he couldn't...
"Be careful." Lan Wangji would say. Day in and day out. His worrisome nature to make sure the two, husband and baby alike, would grow as the weeks went on. Wei Wuxian only had 12 weeks to go and both of them were excited if not a bit anxious but in good ways.
"I'm being careful." Wei Wuxian would say back, thinking his recklessness was being put down to a bare minimum. Sure he could be careless and impulsive sometimes, but he knew he wasn't stupid. At least not that stupid.
However, Lan Wangji and Lan Xichen were now sitting outside, across from one another. A beautiful white fringe tree above them. Lan Xichen smiled kindly at his brother, who looked stoic as ever, "I have some news to tell you," he said.
"What news?" The Second Young Master looked expectantly at his older brother. He knew his brother's duties were expected of the Lan Clan, but he wasn't expecting any news per se. At least not so out of the blue.
"I have to travel to the Qinghe Region." He said this in a serious tone, yet his face contrasted with a gentle smile.
"Why?", Lan Xichen was taking a sip of his tea, thinking of how to respond. He knew why, but could he really tell Lan Wangji? What would his brother think of him still caring about a maniacal lunatic?
He set his cup down firmly, making his decision on how to respond to the other's question, "You will know in due time."
Lan Wangji didn't appreciate the answer, shifting his weight slightly backward, looking more pronounced and emotionless. He couldn't understand why his brother wouldn't tell him something as important as this, but perhaps he has a reason. No reason could stem in his mind as he thought of this news.

Lan Wangji had arrived in the Jingshi, only to find everything remarkably clean. Cleaner than it has been in quite a while. The flooring was pristine as were the walls and all of the items in the place. It was as if everything had been replaced with a newer version. However, Wei Wuxian was nowhere in sight. He began to pace all around the rooms, slightly (overly) panicking.
The other heard the heavy steps and the rushing of them and figured Lan Zhan didn't know where he was, so he called him over. "I'm in the baby's room!", he shouted, stopping his actions as he did so.
Lan Wangji went in, the panic fading as he spotted his lover cross-legged on the floor; pillow under his stomach for support, cleaning products in hand. "What are you doing?-"
The other turned his attention back to the crib in front of him, cleaning profusely and continuing to answer his husband's question. "I'm cleaning."
Wei Ying was visibly focused on the task at hand and Lan Wangji didn't want to question his husband's actions, but he didn't want him to over-exert himself. Especially at the stage, he's in the pregnancy. And because the whole Jingshi was spotless, he already had a clear idea of what the man has been doing this whole time. "The baby's crib?", he asked.
"Of course! Imagine all the germs on it and when they touch it, they'll get those germs too maybe, and you know how babies put EVERYTHING in their mouths?! I don't want them to catch something I could've prevented." Wei Ying says, not stopping to look at the other.
