chapter 15: the peace

Drystan and Esmeray had split up to save time . He felt very lucky because in a short amount of time he had managed to find Aderynn.

Now he had to wake her .

He had just reached to nudge her shoulder when her hand wrapped around his wrist scaring the soul right out of him ,he fainted then and there .

"What are you doing here ?!? " Aderynn asked slapping him awake

"Danger ,not safe must leave ....now " he said before passing out again .

"Hey ...hey!! What do you mean danger ?!?"

He didn't respond .

"Children ..." She muttered as she helped him up moving him towards the door that joined hers and Elva's rooms only to find the bed empty .

She dropped him onto the floor and began rushing about looking into the closet and other doors leading out of the room .panic settled in .

Aderynn lifted the boy onto her bed and placed the blanket over him she would come back later once she had found elva .

She began rushing to Lucians room now .As the sun slowly began to rise soon they would have to leave .

Once she opened the door she was relieved to see elva and Lucian both perfectly safe along with Esmeray .

"Elva you stupid girl! how dare you scare me like that! I thought something happened to you !"  She rushed to Elva's Side .

"I'm sorry Aderynn I didn't know what else to do you sent me away ."

"Right yeah glad your reunited and all but we need to leave ... Now " Esmeray interrupted .

"I don't understand what's going on exactly ."

"It's this place ... It's filled with magic ."

"Magic ?!?" You mean the stuff in all those stories ?? "

"Exactly that. Only worse.. ten times worse ."

Lucian didn't know much about magic other then that it was evil .he had never really cared for all the stories Davina had read him when he was younger . But he had remembered that magic was always the source of evil in all of them .

"How do you know ??"

"I've seen it . Can't you tell everyone here is repeating their actions ,and conversations these rooms haven't been cleaned  because the maids have been cleaning the same spot for months or even years . Mother knew it was a bad Idea to send you alone so she sent us to keep an eye on you ."

"Us ??"

"Yes Drystan is here as well although I don't know where he went ... We should find him and leave before we are caught .hopefully he isn't dead ."

"He's Alright he's fainted ,he's laying on my bed we'll go get him as soon as you two grab your things ." Aderynn said .

Lucian grabbed his sword placing it onto his belt securing it in a way it would be harder to take then before. he had learned his lesson three times already and he didn't need to be taught again .

They rushed to Aderynn's room only to find Drystan was not there.

"That idiot must've run off somewhere !!"

"No he didn't ." They looked over to see a girl she looked to be around the age of twelve . She had red hair much like aderynns .

"She took him that awful woman with the pale skin . She's going to curse him just like the rest . "

"Who are you ??" Elva asked

"My name is Mirra "

"Well Mirra ,where did she take him ??" Aderynn questioned .

"Downstairs into the ballroom it's where she does all the curses ,you should go before the sun rises or you'll be cursed too just like my father ." Mirra explained

"Why don't you come with us ?? "Aderynn asked

"I can't ,that witch won't let me leave ."her eyes filled with tears ."if I do my skin will burn up in the sun . I've already tried ."

Lucian could now see pink splotches covered her  skin .

"We don't have time to waste !!"  Esmeray rushed "thank you Mirra we won't forget you ."

They rushed downstairs leaving Mirra  in the dusty old room .

"There !!"elva called pointing to the large ballroom door .

"Get your weapons ready ." Aderynn instructed . "I'll go in , if it's unsafe do not follow me  "

"But Aderynn .." elva protested

"Do not follow me !! " She repeated .

The door opened slowly and Aderynn walked in . Nothing happened .

After a few moments they all filed in the room ... Only to have the door slam shut  behind them .

"You lied to me ..." A voice spoke. it was the queen's voice no doubt .

"For good reason you old hag !!  Let my brother go !! " Esmeray yelled as she tried to locate where the voice was coming from .

Lucian drew his sword and elva prepared her dagger .

"Put those away children .you have no chance of defeating me no matter how hard you try ." Lucian's sword was knocked from his hand as Elva's dagger flew from hers .

"We mean you no harm . We just want ..." 

" I know exactly what you want and you can't have it !! "

Aderynn was knocked back into the wall with a blinding flash of light .

"Aderynn !!" Elva screamed .  "Leave her alone you witch !!" Elva ran to retrieve her dagger before she flew back into Esmeray a loud crunching sound filled the room  . And Esmeray screamed .

"My arm !!"

"How amusing " she laughed a cold wicked laugh . "Your like my very own puppets !!"

"We only want to leave !! I promise we won't bother you ever again if you just let us go !!" Lucian pleaded

"Empty promises ,you will only come back with more people to steal it but I won't let you outsmart me !! It is mine it will always be mine!! Now get down to the ground where you belong !!"

Lucian fell to his knees .His body felt like ice but he was sweating buckets . His bones were all snapping one at a time slowly . So he could feel each one .

"No ... Stop please !!! You can't do this !! Your killing him  !!" Elva screamed

The queen appeared in a cold silver mist  right before elva cupping her face in her hands . "Oh dear child you have no idea the things that I can do ."

Lucian cried out as his leg bent and snapped followed by his arms and other leg he was a mess as he layed helplessly on the floor his bones bending and cracking

He heard a scream and a thud as he turned his head to see the queen had fallen Drystan and Aderynn standing behind her  and her body was now slowly disappearing and fading into the same dust that had coated all of the castle . He saw elva and Esmeray rushing to his side as his eyes closed perhaps for the last time .
