Moving to Asia simply due to reasons, I didn't like it at first, but I got use to it. The place feels smaller than the United States, but I do admit that it's rather cozy. This city is my new home, but there's a catch to it.
This is an immortal city.
A city for immortals to live and have a life here. Not all immortals fight, as I think of it, now. Thinking about it, schools, workplaces, restaurants, are all for immortals only. Of course, it allows half immortals, as I read it at the city's rule allowance. So my life.. Is almost normal.. I went to attend a high school, that isn't far away to my apartment. I don't own a house, because I live by myself and have been for the last two years. My parents died, so did my guardian 4 years later.. That's when I start to act shady, and hide those emotions. Of course, I have to lie that my guardian is still alive in order to register. Since I'm 17, I'm still a teenager and I need adult supervision.. So I lied.
I sling my messenger bag over my shoulder, as I wear it as a one strap backpack. I grab my black Nike baseball cap I got from America, then I slip my sneakers on. My shoes are so comfortable, I must say. Size 10, I think. I unlock my door as I move the chains back. I exit out of my room, shutting the door behind me. I grab my key and lock the door, then I stare at my apartment door number, 143. I turn away from my door, facing the hallway, then I began walking along the hallway. It took me 5 minutes to exit the hotel, but I manage to slip out of the crowd. People are already moving in.. Why? So much immortals. I was walking on the sidewalk, as few cars drive pass me, on the road. I glare at the heating sun, as it glimpsing at my eyes.. It hurts. I lower my cap towards my eyes, blocking the sunlight out of my eyes. It's 37 celsius here. That's a reason why I don't like Japan much. The heat.. I look at my hand, as it was cover in cuts. I sigh heavily. I can't cook. The last time I cook, I burnt the meat, cut my hand when chopping and.. Well, I cut my thumb off. I look at my thumb, as it was bandaged up. My thumb was able to regrow itself, but it took.. 2 hours? So it was hard living with no thumb. I sigh again.
I bump my shoulder against someone as my files from my bag slip out. I glare at the person I bump as that person drop their paper as well. I heard the person apologizing, yet it was a.. Girl? "I'm so sorry." I raise my cap a little so I was able to see a bit better, yet It was a girl. The girl has silver hair, which looks silky. Her hair doesn't cover her forehead but only at the side and goes all the way down to her hair. But that's only for the size in front of her. Her hair is long, so her hair's length might end at her waist or back. So I'm guessing she has a long hair style. Her eyes, seems nice. Her iris and pupil were black, as I could see my own self. God damn, am I having a crush? I crouch down, picking up papers. "It's fine." Wait, what? I pick up a paper that said 'Registration.' I look at the subtitle, saying 'Elemental High School.' Heh? "Hey, are you transferring to this school?" I show her the registration sheet, yet she continues to collect the papers. She nods. "Yeah. I just moved here." What? New student transferring? "Your coming into this school? When did they have new students welcoming?" She looks confused, yet she move her hair out of her face, as she put it behind her ear. I think I am having a crush now, but I shouldn't! She shrugs. "Do you belong to that school?" She show me a piece of paper, as it was my.. Agenda homework from my classroom. "Yeah." She looks at the paper, then nods. "Oh, so your a 3rd year, just like me?" 3rd year.. Just like me. Wait, there's only one class with 3rd years. "Yeah. Oh. So your going to be in my class then. There's only one class for 3rd years like us." She smiles, as I see her white teeth. Her teeth was nice and clean, as her jawline was perfect. I need to stop having crushes.
She hand me my papers and I hand hers. "What's your name?" She put her arms behind her back as she hold her backpack behind her as well, as it was a black briefcase purse thingy. "Lu-" Right, I forgot. Not American. "Katsu." She nods. "Haruko is mine." She put her hand on her chest, gesturing as a 'hello' as she introduce herself. I put my hands behind my back, trying to put my paper inside my bag. "Hold on." I hear her said. She takes my paper and walk behind me. I feel her unclipping my bag open, then putting the paper inside. She clips my bag again, closing it then I feel her hand patting my shoulder. "There.." Her hands are warm, as I felt her patting my shoulder. "Thank you." I look at my watch, as it's 8:50. "Oh, shoot. We gotta go." I look at her, as her face got serious. She nods at me, but sighs. "Ok. But.. I don't know where this school is. This registration forum doesn't say where it is." Damn. Guess I have no choice. I take her hand as I begin sprinting along the sidewalk. Her hands are warm..
We made it just in time 5 minutes later. But there was many school buses in front of our school, so i'm guessing this is where the new students transfer here. I apologize to her that I took her hand and ran off to get to school instead of her following then I left to my classroom. What I know of so far is that new students transfer here and then move to the gym as a welcome ceremony. There was mostly 1st,2nd and 3rd year students entering this school, so the 3rd and 4th years are involved with the ceremony by standing at the side of the gym. I stood along with one of my friend, which he choose to be a chemist in the far out future. His name was Daiki. Daiki whistles quietly, as the principal, stood on the stage, introducing this school and yeah. "Hey. How many new students do you think came here?" He was right.. We never had a huge welcome ceremony with this amount of students before. I examine the crowd, as they focus and stare at the principal. "Er.. 200? Looks like it." He chuckles quietly, as we were whispering to each other. "Damn. There are some hot ones out there, too." Him and liking girls. I wouldn't be thinking or doing anything like that in public. I don't plan on dating, much often, because well. I don't know how. I said nothing to him, after, yet I try to not make alot of eye contact. I look at some of the students, looking at the principal. They all look so shy, yet innocent. I wonder how many half immortals are in there, like me.. Half immortals are the ones that start off with a human body and brain. But encounters with the powers later in their life, which is quite common. If a immortal mar a half or a human, their baby becomes a half immortal. If immortal marry a immortal, that's different. Their baby would be full immortal, which the school is almost filled with. Perhaps.. 80%. Yet, there are bullies here that treat half immortals as shit. I look around through the crowd, still counting how many students join. This amount of students would've mean that their school was attacked or immortals come to Japan to this hidden city.. This hidden city, doesn't have ALL of the immortals around the world. I believe some don't even know this city existed. My eyes widen, as I see a girl with silver hair, looking at the principal. I know who that is.. Haruko. So she is a new student here. I can see she didn't wear a lot of makeup on her face and I just notice she was wearing our blue school uniform. Our uniform would be a t-shirt, which is our choice to pick a color, with a blue jacket and a red tie. Girls would wear skirt, guys would wear blue pants. That's how Japan works. How America works is we can wear any clothing. But at less we don't have to pay for these uniforms. I wonder why I didn't notice she was wearing our uniform when we first bump into each other. God, I feel stupid. I see her turning her head towards me, as her eyes widen as well, looking at me. She notice me and waves one finger at me, trying to not attract attention. She focus back on the principal, yet I can see her smirk for a quick second. She must be happy we met each other and we were already friends. Yet, she looks different. I don't see what type of element power she uses..
The ceremony was 20 minutes long, and my legs were killing me for standing up, showing respect to the new students for that long. I drop onto my seat, as I sigh, looking at the ceiling. My friend, Daiki, sat down beside me, as our desks were separate for each other and were in rows. "My legs are killing me." I mumble. I look through the window, as I watch our school's flag, waving in the wind. A human wave is like a flag moving in the wind.. I look in front of the classroom, as I see our teacher, writing her name on the board. 'Ms. Halane' it says. I look around our classroom, as there was 5 empty desk. So we are having new students coming to our class. Our teacher turns towards us. "Before I say that we should start being nice and respectful to the new students, I need to fill you guys something." I hear people chattering, yet I stayed quiet. I put my arm on the desk, as I put my chin on top of my palm of my hand. "We will have an element practice run during P E." Practice run, eh? That's where we do element power practice, where we get comfortable to use our power right. We are not allow to show our immortal self to mortals at other cities or anything like that. Most people here usually have fire and wind, perhaps 60%. But since new students came, I don't know now. I use fire as an element, but somewhat, since I have an infection in my powers, the fire is black. I hear the door slide open, as I see 3 new students entering the classroom. I only notice one of them. My teacher, looks at them, as she greet herself and nods. "My name is Ms. Halane. Welcome to 3rd year class." They introduce them self to the class, as they move to their seats. I already hear mumbling and whispers, talking about Haruko, of how she looks pretty and stuff like that. I glare outside, looking at the flag, as it stopped moving. No wind. Behind me, I felt someone poke me with the back of a pencil. I look behind me, as I see Haruko, sitting behind me. Is she.. Sitting behind me? She smiles lightly, as she waves her pencil at me. "Hello, Katsu." I didn't notice an empty seat behind me. I smile lightly, as well. "Hey." She put her bag at the side of her desk. I look back in front of the classroom, as I focus on our teacher. From the beginning of high school, I never had a crush. But until now. I don't know if liking Haruko is a good thing or a bad thing.
