Looking down at myself, with my hands gripped on the lustrous metal railing, I catch to see a plane in the air. I watch it accelerate, until I couldn't see it anymore because of the clouds. I'd sigh, and walk away.
With my hands underneath a cardboard box, I'd lift the box up, balancing myself and two other boxes on top of the main box I carry. I head for the counter, and bring the boxes down to the counter.
"Hey Zanerous," a man said. I face towards him, to see a friend of mine. Teke.
"If you can, take the forklift outside. It's cramping us," he said, heading toward the counter and grabbing the boxes I left, yet attempting to carry all three boxes, he'd trip back. "I heard boss needs these," he said, trying to make it look natural.
"For what? Is it something heavy inside?" I head towards one of the box that was tipped over, and open the top. They weren't sealed close, but left alone. A white metal car engine. It appears to be very lustrous.
"A new engine that the company created. Helps the car be more accurate when turning, and provides more speed."
"How heavy is it?" I said, looking at the box itself. It looks heavy, yet it feels like it's only 15 kg.
"15kg." I knew it.
"1500," he said, finishing off.
"Did I just lift a car or something?"
"It literally takes two people to carry this. How did you do it alone?"
"I work out," I lie. I'm an immortal. I'm working in a company that works for car parts, in a human city. An immortal can carry at least 8000 kg. At least for an adult.
"Seems weird. That must mean you work out at least everyday, right?" he asked, trying to hold the box. This time, I pretend to help him, and hold the box with him. We slowly walk up on the metal staircase to the platform, heading for the boss's room.
"Yeah, I guess."
"What about your hair? Your hair is almost the same color as the engine. Is it natural or dyed?"
"It's natural."
"Weird."
We left the box in the corner of the office, and I headed for home.
Shutting the door behind me, I drop my keys on the coffee table next to the door. I look into the fridge to see anything to eat, yet it looked deserted. "Are you hungry?" I hear Haruko said behind me. I face her, yet to see her with black eyes.
"Yeah," I sit down on the dinning chair, to see Haruko place a cup of black chocolate steaming. "It's black coffee. You like coffee with nothing, right?" I nodded.
I see her grab cup of coffee herself, but drop a teaspoon of sugar down into her cup. She sat down on the opposite side of me. "Working in a human city, are you crazy? I don't even think we shape up like an exact human," she said, taking a sip of her coffee. I did the same, and I felt the hot drink tingling in on my taste buds.
"They provide more money, so I really can't ignore something like that."
"Yeah, by like two dollars," she plays with her coffee, swirling it around with the movement of her cup.
I shrug. "Besides, I'm having you live with me in this condition-"
"And I'm grateful for that," she said, cutting me off.
"Yeah, but the condition is that this apartment, really is not paying off well for two people," I take my empty cup and place it in the sink. I watch Haruko do the same. "I'm trying to get a house near the school, and I only have around what, four thousand?"
"That's still a lot," she said, leaning on the counter next to me.
"Yeah, but I don't have parents to give me money, and houses cost more than that," I look at my room, to see my door open.
"I rather die, owning a house than an apartment," I said, heading toward my room.
"Then other people will die if your not around," she said. I don't understand what she mean by that.
"Then I will be bury deep than them, because I'm the cause," I head towards my bedroom, to see my sword on my bed. My blanket was shaken and wrinkled, as it looks like someone just woke up.
"I think we should meet up with the others. Winter is coming soon and I rather have warmth than the cold," she head toward the closest in the living room, and grab her jacket. I follow her, and do the exact same.
