Ro's POV
Once we'd gotten out of the bath we settled down for dinner, Anders what as his own home this time, it made me wonder what his mate felt about him being here so much, his kids, Domino and Angie didn't seem bitter about it and it wasn't like he was here all the time, it did make me wonder though.
The table was mostly quiet as we ate, in a comfortable silence, the scrape of cutlery on plates and chewing the only sounds.
I looked to my left at Nobu, his grey curls still damp from the bath, his excitement had simmered down a little but I could see he was still eager to ask my parents if his family could visit. That dream of his weighed heavily on my mind, I'd tried to disregard it as just that, a dream, but something made me keep on questioning it.
Nobu was an omega, a tumult, I didn't know if either could have prophetic dreams, but I didn't know about an omega bite either. An omega and a tumult were things barely understood, they were both instinctual, they did things when required and being different would encourage those with the skills to keep quiet about them. Tumults are revered and feared, omega's are far more accepted, especially in the medical fields, omega shifters are often heavily encouraged to pursue a career in medicine.
I could see Nobu doing such a thing, he was reserved but so caring and sweet to those who knew him, he could help people if he wanted to, there was no pressure though, he could do whatever he wanted with his life, just because you could do something doesn't mean you should have to, he shouldn't feel obligated to pursue a certain career. Some might call him selfish for it, but those people didn't have those expectations hanging over them.
"How did the sparring go today?" mum asked the both of us between bites, she hadn't been the happiest about Bos coming over and teaching us to fight but she'd preferred it a lot more over me joining the gang.
"It was good." I bobbed my head, and it was, Bos's group was diverse and allowed us all to experience fighting against different opponents, giving us a safe environment to figure out how to approach a fight with different shifts. You'd think in human form it would be easier, but if anything it was more difficult, everyone still fought differently, their shifts bleeding into their human form and I think Fin, the human was the hardest to fight, he had no shift, therefore there was no advantage in knowing what he'd be likely to do, sure he was at a disadvantage when we were shifted but it was all equal in human form. Bos had made us mix and match, one of us shifted and one of us human, it had really challenged us, made us really think.
It wasn't what I'd expected, I thought we'd all stand facing him and practicing moves and punches, what he was doing was much more engaging, and would actually help us in the long run. Fancy moves didn't save lives, we needed to think on our feet and that was what he was teaching us, he did give us pointers and coach us but he let us use our minds and instincts, during a real fight that would be all we would have.
"Yeah, I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would, it felt like we were working together to improve rather than getting pitted against each other." Nobu agreed.
"Well you both did very well for your first lesson, I bet you're both quite tired out." Jax commented, a note of pride in his voice, it made me want to smile, warmth blooming in my chest from his words, and he was right, I was going to have no trouble getting to sleep tonight, not that I often did with Nobu wrapped in my arms and the sleepy purrs of Spooks nearby.
"Halloween's next week." Nobu slipped in right before eating another mouthful.
It didn't escape my dad and he raised a brow, his scarred lips twitching. "So it is." he replied.
I felt myself smiling, it was adorable Nobu thought he was being subtle and even more so because dad was playing along and acting oblivious.
"Do you normally do anything for Halloween?" He asked my parents.
