Chapter 5: Surf's Up

Keaton just invited me to go to the beach with him, Wesley, and Drew. I nervous,

but excited at the same time. After all, this was Emblem 3. Keaton said he would

pick me up at 10:00 am and bring me to the mansion. I was happy he was picking

me up. I wouldn't want to walk in by myself with all of them there. I packed all

my stuff into a bag and told my grandma that I wasn't sure when I would be back,

but that everything will be okay. I waited at the end of the driveway. I didn't

want Keaton to see how bad things were. Thankfully, a lot of trees blocked his

view of the house. Keaton picked me up at 10:00 exactly like he promised. He

didn't ask why I was waiting in such an odd place. That's what I liked about

Keaton. He never pushed me to answer or made me feel uncomfortable. We drove the

20 minutes to the mansion, blasting th radio and singing at the top of our

lungs. I think I smiled and laughed the whole time. We finally got to the beach

and Keaton opened my door for me. He held my hand as we approached Drew and

Wesley who were fooling around with their surf boards. I turned to Keaton. "Um

you didn't say anything about surfing." Keaton smiled. "Well we're in California

at the beach. What did you think we were going to be doing? Besides, I thought

you've always wanted to surf." "How did you know that?" "Andrea," Keaton smiled.

We had reached the rest of the boys so I couldn't say anything back and I knew

Keaton did that on purpose. I glared at Keaton.

"This is Alli," Keaton introduced me. "I'm Wesley. Keaton's brother. Geez. He

talks so much about you. That's all we ever hear about." I looked down at the

ground. An "Ouch" from Wesley, told me that Keaton had punched him. "I'm Drew.

The so called adopted brother." "Hi," I said. I looked to Keaton hoping he would

take the awkwardness away. "Alright let's go surfing!" Keaton yells. Drew and

Wesley race each other into the water. Keaton steps so close to me, I can hear

him breathing. This time I'm not scared. I give Keaton a kiss on the nose and

run into the water with his board. Keaton chases me and ends up tackling me into

the waves. "I thought you didn't want to surf," he says. "I'm very indecisive,"

I reply. "Now teach me how to surf." Keaton smiles so big that I just want to

hug him. "Alright," Keaton says. "Let's do it."
