Chapter 71

Again

Alli's Perspective

I turned off my phone before shakily sliding down the ground. I choked on the

tears, gasping for air. What did I do? I put my head in my hands, needing to

feel the comfort of myself to let me know I was still alive. Dead. That's how I

felt. Keaton was my everything. And now I have nothing. I heard the door open

and Wesley's deep voice. "Alli we're all - " he stopped when he saw me. "Alli,"

he whispered. I looked up at him, surely I looked like a mess. Wesley gingerly

took a step closer to me before deciding it was okay. He sat down next to me,

pulling me into his lap. Screams emitted from my mouth. Keaton was gone. "Shh.

It's okay," Wesley whispered into my ear, kissing my head. He rocked me in his

strong arms and played with my hair while continually kissing me. I started to

calm down slightly. "Do you wanna tell me what's wrong?" Wesley asked carefully.

I gulped and took in a shaky breath. "Keaton," was all I got out before I

erupted into more sobs.

Wesley's Perspective

Keaton. What the hell did he do now? I couldn't stand him treating her like this

again and again. She shouldn't be with someone like that. With him. She needed

to be with someone better. Someone like me. I looked into Alli's mascara stained

face and watery eyes as she told me what Keaton said. My heart broke for her.

Anger flooded through me. My hands balled into fists. My anger was interrupted

when Alli's phone vibrated against the cold floor. She brushed the hair off her

face, desperately trying to answer it without dropping the phone. I placed my

hands gently on hers. "Let me get it." I pried the phone out of her hands and

saw that the Long Beach police department was calling. Shit.
