Roman and Patton were being their usual awful selves, eating breakfast and thinking about what they were going to do that day until Virgil walked in and said they had a special visitor.
A palace guard, claiming that the king and queen wanted to see the two of them.
Patton jumped for joy and while Roman could hardly compose himself, Roman shushed Patton and adjusted his tie.
"Is anything wrong?" "No, the king and Queen just really want to speak with you right now." Patton and Roman shared a look of joy, 'this was it' they thought, this was their time to rise up the ranks and get Patton on the throne.
Little did they know they weren't there for Patton to marry Remus or really anything positive, they were being invited to get their asses royally handed to them.
The three of them hopped into the carriage, Virgil just stared out the window, maliciously smiling the whole time.
When Roman asked why he was so happy Virgil just said "Oh I'm just so happy for Patton.".

They arrived at the castle, Roman confidently led the the two boys to the ballroom and bowed before the king, queen, Remus and tons of other members of the royal court.
The king and queen didn't look happy and Prince Remus kept staring at Virgil and smiling.
"Baron Roman Tremaine..." said the King "Yes?" Roman batted his eye lashes, totally unaware of what was about to happen.
"Is it true you stole from my wife?" Asked the King, and just like that, Roman and Patton's smug expressions morphed into pure terror, making Remus snicker a little.
Roman began to tug at his collar and stammer our faulty explanations that the king didn't buy at all.

"Well- about the necklace- you have to under stand that any man would do it for his sons future!" "Father! I can't believe you!" Of course Patton would throw his own father under the bus, he would do anything to look innocent in front of royalty.
Patton rushed over to remus, grabbing his hands and doing his best to look sweet "Remus, I'm an innocent bystander in all this, I have been manipulated an-" "Traitor!" Roman shouted grabbing him and pushing him to the ground.
Patton some how acted more offended than when Logan punched him in the face "See?! This is what I have to put up with! He's always so mean to me!" "Oh my god will you two stop bickering?! Are they always like this!?" The King felt like he was watching two toddlers duke it out over a doll, Virgil was laughing really hard, this was the best thing that could of ever happened to him.
"Actually your highness, they're way worse." Virgil snickered, tears welling in his eyes from laughing so hard.
Roman turned around and grabbed Virgil, whispering in his ear "Virgil, sweetie, I really hope you had nothing to do with this." Prompting Virgil to just smugly smile and proudly say "No papa, I'm just here for the food.".

"That's enough!" Shouted the king, standing up from his throne to really convey how angry he was.
"For your first punishment, you will be stripped of your royal title, people like you are the reason everyone thinks royals are spoiled uptight jerks.
You don't deserve to be called a baron." "What?! No- you-" the king cut Roman off "And for your other punishment..." he paused "That's not for me to decide.".
Suddenly, dainty footsteps could be heard entering the ballroom and everyone turned to look at who could possibly be walking in.
The mysterious stranger turned out to be Logan, dressed in the same outfit he wore to the ball, the only difference was the change of shoes and a golden crown with sapphires and diamonds in it now rested atop his pretty little head.

Virgil was so happy for him, he couldn't think of anyone more worthy to be a Prince, while Patton and Roman just seemed to be frozen in place from the shock.
Logan descended the stairs and took his place right next to Remus, holding his hand as he stared down at his step father and step brother.
Patton and Roman were forced to kneel down to the ground for the happy couple, Logan couldn't see their faces but just knew that they were probably pulling the most sour expressions possible.
Logan leaned forward to Roman, putting a delicate hand under his chin, causing him to look right at him.

Logan didn't smile, he looked hollow, Roman had taken so much from him and he had dreamed about this day for so long that he just didn't have it in him to care about his step father anymore.
He showed no anger, no happiness, nothing but the hollow emptiness that someone shows after they have been emotionally drained too many times.
"It's important to know when you've been beat." Logan muttered to Roman, Roman was still clinging on to the desperate hope that he could find his way out of this.
"Please, Logan, we're family-" "No, we aren't, we could have been, but you didn't want to be.".
Silence fell on the whole room, the intensity of the whole ordeal slowly rising and eventually washing over the room like wave.
"You did everything you could to ruin my first home, so I will never let you ruin my second.
I don't care where you go or what you do but if you ever come near me, Virgil, Remus or my kingdom ever again, the consequences will be severe. After today, i will never think about you two ever again, but i am certain you will think about me for the rest of your lives." Logan stood back up and turned to the king "All I ask of you your majesty, is that you treat them with the same kindness and respect they treated me." and just like that, Patton and Roman were banished and never allowed to set foot in the kingdom again.
Nobody knows what happened to either of them after their banishment but nobody really cared, all they did was hurt people and use them as stepping stones to success so not even Virgil really cared that they were gone.
Logan was finally free from a life of servitude, he had dreamed and dreamed that one day he could live his own life and get far away from us step family but now his step family were the ones running away.
The same man who used to make him cower in fear was forced to bow to him by the king himself, at the end of the day, Logan learned at least one useful thing from his step father.
There are people who aren't even worth being hated and it's in your best interests to move on and just forget their existence, and so... he did.
To Logan, they were now just a mere unpleasant memory, a footnote in his life story and they truly couldn't hurt him anymore.
