Remus and Logan walked through a hedge maze, every few minutes the sky would light up with pretty fireworks, something that Remus was very enthusiastic about but personally Logan thought they were a little too loud for his liking.
Remus lead him to the other side of the maze and to a big wall of stone covered in moss, he felt around on the wall for a moment before finding a door handle and pulled it open, inside it was a small clearing with bushes and a great big willow tree in the middle, from the willow tree hung a big swing, it was some what old but very sturdy.
The most striking thing about it though was the stone walls that were all covered by large orange mirrors, all cracked and covered in moss but still very beautiful.
"Isn't it lovely? This was a hall of mirrors way back before my dad was even born, overtime people stopped using it and nature took its course, I found it one day while I was exploring and I asked my dad if I could use the tree in the middle for a swing.
It's kind of been a family secret for a while now, I thought you'd like it.".
Logan slowly took it all in, the place felt mystical and magical in a way, the same why anything that was reclaimed by nature felt magical, but this time it had the air of secrecy to it that gave it a very special sentimental feel.
Logan approached the swing "May I?" Remus happily nodded and even offered to push him.
Logan swung back and fourth, gently swaying side to side with each little push, on one particularly hard push though, a soft clink could be heard on the ground.
His shoe had fell off but when Remus grabbed it to put it back on him he was in shock over how it looked.
It shimmered in his hands as he stared at it completely big eyed "It's made of glass?!" "Yep... weird I know.".
"I-... you are the most interesting person I've ever met, you've told me tons of facts about menial things like bugs and decapitation and yet you never share your name, you dance around in glass shoes and yet you are one of the most humble princes I've ever met.
You're an enigma that I can't wrap my head around, you're so confusing but in just the best way, I wanna know so much about you— scratch that! I need to know more about you!".
"Remus, I-" "I feel so strange around you, a weird sense of warmth and familiarity that I just don't get anywhere else, it's driving me crazy! I want you to tell me so much about every little thing you know! I don't know why I feel this way, I don't feel like myself to night, my palms are all sweaty and my mind is racing and— I'm not making any sense am I?" Remus was really rambling, he was pretty frayed from this whole thing and Logan almost felt bad making him feel like this.
"No, I know exactly how you feel, I'm not really myself tonight either..." "Well then let me get to know the real you... tell me something I don't know..." Remus now had risen up a little while Logan had lowered down, the two's faces were inches away from each other.
Remus was getting closer "Do you... know anything about kissing?" He sheepishly asked "I believe... it has something to do... with... the lips..." Logan was trying his best to articulate a sentence but was focusing way too much on Remus's face, the two eventually grew so close that they locked lips.
The whole thing would of been like a scene out of a romance novel... if they weren't such terrible kissers, it was good no one was around because if they were they would of been disgusted.
Between Remus's weird zombie face eating technique and Logan just sitting there like a dead fish it was definitely the grossest thing that had happened all night, on the bright side though, neither of them knew they were doing it wrong and were having a fun time regardless.
They would of continued to have their little gross make out session if Logan wasn't distracted by some distant rustling in the bushes.
Logan and Remus jumped up and cautiously stepped towards it, or as cautiously as you can step when you're wearing one boot.
Out of the Bush popped a little rat causing Logan and Remus to both coo in surprise.
Remus picked it and gave it gentle pats "It's so cute!" "I love rats." "You do?" "Yes, they are one of the most intelligent creatures in the world, I relate to them! For a... number of reasons.".
Remus groaned in excitement "ugh! Yes! Fucking finally! I've been trying to tell my folks for years that rats aren't scary! Some one else gets it!" "It's terrible that people judge them based on their appearances, they deserve more credit than they get.".
"Do you wanna hold him?" Remus asked, holding the cute little rat "I-" suddenly, a clock tower could be heard in the distance, the first stroke of midnight.
"Oh my god! It's so late! I need to go!" Yelled Logan.
He quickly raced out of the building ignoring Remus's cries for him to come back, "Wait!" He shouted "You forgot your shoe!" he picked it up and gently set the rat down, trying his best to catch up to the cute nerd.
He pushed through the crowd, panting heavily as he pleaded with himself, begging that he could just make it home in time so he could be undetected, this was such a perfect night he couldn't have anything ruin it now.
'Why does every guy I like run away from me?' Remus thought, as he chased Logan through the palace.
Everyone was gawking at them and some even joined in on the chase, Picani was waiting outside for Logan and the two quickly hopped inside the carriage as it sped off.
Logan feverishly looked out side the window to make sure they were ahead of his family and Remus while Picani demanded for him to tell him what was going on.
"I danced with the prince and then we made out." "What?! What about Remus!?" "Remus is the prince!" "Holy giminetti!" Picani exclaimed.
They arrived home and they quickly rushed the carriage driver out of the yard and ran inside.
Logan got undressed and shoved his dads clothes back in the chimney and buried the shoe under the soot, making sure to cover himself with dirt so they couldn't tell he had a bath, he also put back on his old cracked glasses and hid the book that Remus gave him in one of the cabinets.
It wasn't a particularly good hiding spot for it but it would have to do on such short notice.
Picani handed him a bucket and a wash rag and the two got down on the ground pretending to scrub so roman thought they had been there for hours.
