'Is he coming or not?' Logan thought to himself, anxiously waiting on a bench outside of town for Virgil.
He was supposed to come and bring him some supplies for his journey to another kingdom, he wanted to run as far away as possible from everything and everyone.
He knew he couldn't stand to live here any longer, especially since he was pretty sure one of his step siblings was gonna end up king some how and he would rather die than call Patton his King.
He had gone through the trouble of making himself look somewhat different in case Roman tried to go looking for him, he threw away his apron, his bandana and his glasses, burning them into a pile of ash like Roman had done to his father's book.
It felt like a weight had just been lifted off his shoulders, the things he was forced to wear were now gone and he would never have to wear them again, thank god.
He also had taken off his vest and thrown it off somewhere and given himself a haircut in the woods, seeing his bangs fall off into little strands was almost as cathartic as burning his clothes, to him, it symbolized becoming a whole new person and forgetting the past.
While he would always cherish Picani for looking out for him, the love he had with Remus, the friendship between him and Virgil and of course the golden childhood he had with his parents, he was just so sick of being pushed around he couldn't even consider his house a home anymore.
He thought about how Picani would react knowing he ran away, wondering if he would be mad, sad, hopeful or really feel anything at all.
He had considered leaving a note for him but decided against it knowing that his step family would of used it to track him down.
So he confided in Virgil, when he stole the key from his dad to unlock the door and get into the kitchen he didn't expect to see Logan already looking for a way out, but would be lying if he said he didn't think something like this would happen.
He kind of always knew that one day Logan would get sick of everyone and just go AWOL, he didn't think it would happen so soon though.
Then Virgil asked him a question, a question so casual but it really did stick out to Logan.
"Logan... you didn't have anything to do with... all of this... did you?", the embarrassment he felt after being asked that was very strong, he just meekly answered "Yes, I suppose I am the catalyst for these recent troubling events.".
Virgil gave him a side eye and they had a heart to heart about how Virgil was going to miss him and that he needed to tell Picani what happened to him after he left.
The two organized a plan for him to come by and bring him some things to help him get his life back together, some food, a new pair of glasses he stole from Patton. A blanket and a pillow, just random things he would need for survival.
It was going to be scary, and tough, and he knew that sometimes he would totally regret his decision and consider that maybe just maybe he should of stayed, but Logan knew that deep down, he was doing the right thing.
It was hard to decide what he was going to do, there wasn't many job opportunities he could take but considering he worked as a maid since he was about eleven, he thought he might as well get a job as that.
One rock through a window later and Logan was out while Virgil locked the door again to make sure nobody would find out he was gone.
His reminiscence was cut short by a brief glance at something out of the corner of his eye, a boy in a familiar purple coat wearing a cloak and slowly approaching him with bags of stuff he stole for him.
"Thank god you're here, I was starting to worry you wouldn't come." Virgil handed him the basket "You didn't think I would miss saying goodbye to my favorite brother, did you?" the two smiled at each other and shared a hug.
"Oh and I hope you don't mind but, I brought something else you forgot." Logan was confused until he heard a loud neigh and the sound of a horse's hooves clomping against the dirt.
It stopped in front of him and Logan instinctively bowed, knowing fully well who it was.
Remus ushered for him to stand up, he tenderly grabbed his hands and looked deeply into his eyes.
"You forgot your book and your shoe." Said Remus, Logan began to tear up from joy "Remus the person that shoe belongs to doesn't exist, he was just some villager in a prince costume." "I didn't fall in love with the shoe or the costume Logan, I fell in love with your personality and amazing intellect.".
He got down on one knee and took off one of Logan's shoes "Logan, I love you so much, please don't go." He slowly slipped the boot on him, a perfect fit.
Virgil watched the two love birds happily, he never cared for romance but even he couldn't resist feeling happy for the two.
"You really think we can just do this Remus? With you a prince and me a random peasant— I mean-" "I don't care what your status is, how fancy your clothes are or if your family is good or not, I just wanna be with you.
I wouldn't have it any other way.
I love you as you are, and I hope you can love me as I am."
Remus picked Logan up and swung him in the air like they were in some sort of movie, they shared a passionate embrace and and even more passionate kiss that was so sloppy and gross it almost ruined the moment for Virgil, almost.
Logan glanced away from Remus towards Virgil "Thank you Virgil, I almost made a huge mistake." "Don't mention it, your highness.".
Logan blushed, realizing that he'd now be exchanging his old nick name of Cinders for a new and much better title, King.
Remus playfully brushed some hair out of Logan's face "You look weird with out glasses on." "You look blurry." they both laughed, excited to share the rest of their lives together in disgustingly happy domestic bliss.
