Logan groaned and picked himself up, dusting off his shoulders before the prince shoved his face into his.
"Fucking hell! I'm so sorry! I didn't see you there!" Remus grabbed his shoulders and pulled him super close.
Logan pushed back and fiddled with his glasses "it's fine" Logan reasoned "I'm used to being walked all over.".
Remus was confused for a moment before getting distracted "Jesus- did I break your glasses?!" Remus shouted.
"Oh no, they were already like that." "Why were you just walking around with cracked glasses?" "Well I don't have the money for new ones." Remus's goofy smile morphed into a sad frown, Logan felt weird receiving pity from some one.He didn't know wether to feel comforted or insulted, I guess he was just happy to get a kind reaction from some one who wasn't Picani.
The conversation had taken a very awkward turn, nobody was saying anything and Remus just stood there, scrambling for anything to talk about to clear the air.
His eyes darted down to the books in Logan's hand "wow! Those sure are some books! I've read books before!".
Logan snickered, it was hard to make Logan laugh these days, it took years for Picani to make him crack a smile after his dad passed and yet, this random stranger was able to make him laugh from just one awkward exchange.
Maybe the whole situation was just so ridiculous he had to laugh or maybe it was that sort of cute goofball face he had that tended to make everything funnier for some people.'Oh dear' Logan thought, 'did I just say his face was cute?'.
Logan could feel his face becoming red and instantly knew he had to get out of there, it was either sit around and be swooned by Mr. Silly Mchandsome face or go back to his step family who are probably waiting on him and between those he- wait? What was he saying? Why would he go back to them.
He'd much rather spend time with this weirdo who hit him on the head than his actual family.
Dear lord, maybe that hit did hurt him.
"So what's your name?" "Logan." he bluntly replied.Remus smirked and did a grand pose "well I'm Remus, Pri-" he cut himself off, this guy is actually talking to him like a normal person, not a grand prize or a bargaining tool.
Imagine if he did know he was a prince? He'd be falling and bowing and begging for forgiveness for even being near Remus to begin with and say his peasant body didn't deserve to touch Remus's fragile and perfect royal boots.
Disgusting.
Remus had to come up with a lie, any lie at all to save his ass from being outed to him.
Trying his best to think of literally anything other than prince he yelled out the first thing he thought of, "The prince's best friend!"
Logan's expression remained unimpressed "Really?" his tone indicating he knew that Remus was lying.
Remus sweated, tugging at his shirt collar "Yeah! Me and prince Remus have been friends since I started working at the palace when I was a teenager! We have the same name so we instantly connected, we do everything together!"."Okay, then." Remus looked upset "you don't believe me?".
"Oh no, it's not that I don't believe you, it's that my buddy Julius Caesar doesn't believe you, me and him actually go way back, he saved my life on a hunting trip when I was four." he sarcastically joked.
Remus put his hands to his hips and grinned "You may not believe me but one of these days you'll eat your words.".
Logan cocked his head to the side in bewilderment "You can't eat words, they aren't physical.".
Remus stood there stunned for what seemed like an eternity until he bursted out laughing like it was the funniest thing he ever heard.Usually Logan hated being laughed at cause he didn't understand something but this was different than when Patton or Roman would make fun of him, here Remus wasn't doing it out of malice, he just really thought he was funny.
Remus wiped away a tear from his eye "You're funny as fuck, please show me around town cause I just gotta spend my afternoon with you.".
Logan blushed and quickly accepted, grabbing Remus's hand and leading him down the cobble stone path.
It was an exciting feeling for Logan, it was very rare he got to meet new people, especially ones as interesting and nice as Remus.
Remus was feeling quite excited too, The warm feeling of Logan's tender hand quickly causing Remus to blush as well, poor thing looked like a sun burnt tomato as he was dragged along by the lanky nerd in front of him.As Remus and Logan headed off on their own, Logan's step family had just finished shopping.
"Where is he?!" Roman yelled at Virgil, for some unknown reason every time Logan didn't do something perfectly it always had something to do with Virgil,
or rather, Virgil's dad just thought it did.
Virgil groaned "Who?", Roman scoffed "Who do you think idiot? Cinders! he was supposed to be here when we left.".
Patton ruffled his own hair with one hand as he held a small mirror in the other, totally enamored with how beautiful he was.
"Probably out catching rabbits with his teeth, that's our step-bother for you, he's completely useless unless we baby sit him." Patton joked, gazing at his stellar reflection.
Roman took the mirror away from him and put it into one of the bags he was carrying, "Whatever, we need to focus on the task at hand.".Roman reached into his coat and pulled out a big beautiful gold necklace.
It glistened and shined in the beautiful sunlight, covered in rubies and diamonds and rhinestones, it had to have been worth a fortune.
If Logan had been there he would of been the first to point out though that it wasn't just any old fancy necklace: it was a royal family heirloom.
Logan had read several books on royal etiquette and Elphe's royal family history, that necklace had to have been 400 years old and was passed down from generation to generation until eventually being passed down to their current Queen.
Virgil's jaw dropped when he saw it and Patton was positively stunned, "where did you get that?!" Virgil yelled.
Roman just smirked "I'm nobility, we have our ways of getting into the castle.".Roman handed it to Patton who gently touched it, softly smiling in admiration as Virgil watched in jealousy.
"Now give it to the Queen." "What?!" Patton exclaimed, Roman gave him a re assuring pat on the shoulder.
"Trust me Pat, just pretend you found it.".
Obeying Roman's orders Patton walked over to the king and the queen, bowing and slipping into his childish and friendly persona.
"Forgive me your Majesty, but I believe you dropped this." The queen was simply dazzled "Wow, I didn't even remember putting it on this morning! Thank you, what's your name child?".Patton smiled evilly, flashing his perfectly pearly white teeth "Patton." he said in the cutest little tone.
Patton gestured behind him "Perhaps you have met my father, Baron Roman Tremaine?".
The Queen was very pleasantly surprised "I unfortunately have not, I must say though, you are positively precious.
I mean your clothes are simply magnificent." Patton fawned over all the attention, beaming as it no doubt swelled his giant ego.
"Oh please! these old things? Your majesty you are such a sweetie!" Patton lied, these clothes were practically brand new, he just bought them a week ago and yet, here he was, acting like he had found them in a big dusty attic five years ago.The queen looked down at the necklace that now laid in her hands and grinned happily, "You know, most people would rather pawn this off since it's so valuable..." the Queen said.
Patton faked a horrified expression "Why would anyone do something so cruel!? Especially to the royal family! I hate it when people pretend to be loyal and kind just to swoop in and stab you in the back!" the Queen was practically wrapped around Patton's little finger and she didn't even know it.
Now all he had to do was play a little hard to get, just like Roman taught him.
Patton cleared his throat, "I'm sorry but I have to go now, it was an honor to meet you, your Majesty! I hope you make it back to the palace safely." Patton confidently bowed and began to walk away but was stopped by the Queen telling him to wait.
She carefully considered what to do next, debating with herself on what to say.
"Patton, would you and your father be interested in having tea with me a couple days from now?" Asked the Queen.Patton smugly smiled "it would be my honor.".
As the two exchanged their good byes Patton confidently marched over to his father, his cheerful and sickly sweet smile turning into an evil grin.
"Did I do good daddy?" asked Patton.
Roman gently placed a hand on his shoulder "you were the best.".
