Logan swept the floor, he had been working all day and luckily he almost had all his chores done.
He had to feed all the animals, clean their pens, wash the dishes from breakfast, prepare lunch, wash the dishes from lunch, do last weeks laundry, weed the garden and then sweep the floors.
Patton popped his head through the door way.
Logan looked up from the ground to meet his gaze, raising an eye brow to signal that he wasn't sure why he was there.
"Ohhh cinders~ daddy's taking us shopping and guess who gets to carry all out stuff~" Patton joyfully sang.

Logan groaned, the only silver lining to the trip would be that he'd get to go to town, which was exciting since he couldn't even remember the last time he had gone there.
Logan headed up upstairs to tell Virgil to get ready but Virgil was already fully clothed, hanging upside down at the foot of his bed, eyes glued to the ceiling. "Do you think... i could pay some one to just drown me in the fountain and leave me there?". Virgil's eyes shifted towards Logan, who was concerned but also too worried he'd be made fun of if he responded literally with a serious answer.
They all walked outside and Logan grabbed the handle on the carriage door and attempted to get inside before Roman smacked his hand away.
"What do you think you're doing?" Asked Roman, confused, Logan responded "uh, I'm getting in the carriage?".

"No no no! You're supposed to ride up front with the driver! You don't seriously expect us to let you ride inside of the carriage, do you?".
Logan remained silent, he didn't wanna bother with arguing about how he deserved it just like everyone else, instead he simply walked up to the front and sat next to the driver.
It was a good thing the driver wasn't as mean as his family, he even offered to teach him how to drive a carriage if he ever wanted to learn how.
The long ride was very very bumpy, every five minutes they'd hit a pot hole and Logan would almost fall off every single time.
When they arrived, Roman instructed everyone on what they were going to do.
"We are going shopping, there's this fancy story down town that I've been dying to try, Patton and I also have some important business to attend to after we are done shopping.".

"What's the important business?" Logan interjected.
Roman stopped walking and turned to him, "it's none of your business, it's a family matter, you're just here to carry everything we buy.".
Logan just rolled his eyes and walked closely behind them, trying his best to just ignore Roman's bad attitude.
When they reached the shop, Logan asked if he could come in with them but Roman just laughed in his face.
"Why? What you're wearing is already perfect for you and it isn't like you're going anywhere.".

As Logan watched his step family try on clothes through the shop window he couldn't help but look down at himself and feel embarrassed.
It was true that he was never the kinda guy to care about his clothes, as long as he looked professional or presentable he was fine but this was far from either of those.
It was embarrassing that he had to walk around in old rags for no other reason than to fuel his step family's hubris, lord knows Logan would of loved some new shoes or an apron that wasn't tattered but then again: nobody cared about what Logan wanted.
It was then Logan realized that they would most likely not even notice if he slipped away for a few moments, even if they did, what were they gonna get upset about? As long as he was back in time to carry their stuff it's not like he was actively disobeying them.

So Logan set off to explore the town square and experience a small taste of freedom for once, no matter how minuscule it was.
As he walked through town he saw a couple things that really stood out to him, a couple children were playing princesses and knights and absolutely killing it with the theatricality of it all.
There was a puppet show re-enacting a play about a queen and maid who swap places for a day and then fall in love, Logan didn't really care too much for it but he admired the talent that went into it.
Logan meandered around for a while until he came across the one building he was actually looking for, Picani had opened a nice shop in town square after he was fired, the "Bippodi Bopiddi Boutique", home of some of the finest hand made clothing in all of Elphe, maybe even the world. As logan stepped inside the bell above the door lightly dinged, cueing Picani to come look up front to see who it was.
