Wangxian - The Road Not Taken

After the event, upon settling in the guest room of Koi Tower with Lan Zhan, I decided to infiltrate Jin GuangYao's chambers so as to find some evidence. What I witnessed was so shocking as this is so OOC.

I saw as Qin Su, his wife read a letter, in which it was revealed that she is actually his half sister and even knowing this he married her even though her mother had begged him not to. In the other letter it explains how he planned his father's death, in the most vulgar of ways.

Noticing him, she hides the letter and confronts him. Their conversation leads to another revelation, he killed his own child, as he was a result of the union between siblings and as a bonus killed the sect that were opposing him claiming they killed his child. Then he hid his wife in the hidden chamber.

It is there I found a deed and head of Chifeng-jun. Seems like Chifeng-jun desperately wanted to make his voice heard. To warn us. To show the deeds of the mastermind behind the destruction. To show us the real face of the culprit. He dragged me into empathy.

I saw another mask, mask of helplessness and innocence worn by this stealthy individual, brimming with resentment and anger. But he covered it well, and gained trust of people that could help him in long run. I witnessed as Meng Yao killed a disciple for cussing him and gaining benefits for his work, betray Chifeng-jun , collude with Xue Yang, humiliate and kill Nie sect disciples, humiliate and beat Chifeng-jun, then act innocent in order for Zewu Jun to protect him.

Chifeng-jun tried to keep him in check even going far as to take an oath with Zewu-jun and the freshly titled Liangang-jun.

But the bitterness in him did not subside, he went on to do more and more questionable things. Even protected Xue Yang while conveniently getting rid of the evidence convicting him of massacreing entire sect.

On the outside he behaved like a saint, a pure soul that just want to help others, which is how he started learning calming tunes for Chifeng-jun by Zewu Jun. And regularly played them for him acting as the perfect sworn brother.
While still angering him with words till he couldn't take it anymore and realised that Meng Yao will never change. But it was too late. Under the effect of hallucinations and qi deviation, Chifeng-jun was no more.
But he didn't even stop there.

His greed leading him to try and turn Chifeng-jun into a fierce corpse, and when that wasn't possible, he resorted to dismembering his body and keep his head as a confirmation that he is dead.

This was just a little better end than what I faced but horrible nonetheless.

As soon as was out of empathy I wanted to take this moment and ASAP catch him in the act. Who knows when I will get the chance. And in this short period of time it's impossible for him to clear all the evidence.

I hurriedly told Lan Zhan that I found evidence in his chambers and we need to go there now. We were joined by Zewu Jun who helped us get in his place.

But something isn't right. I tell them to go to the hidden chamber and see the truth for themselves. But I couldn't find the head. The only one there was an unresponsive Qin Su, who promptly killed herself.

Just then JGY started his pitiful act that made everyone question what is going on. His pain seemed somewhat real, but what do I know.

Just then I remembered the letter and its hiding place and secretly grabbed and hid it with me. But before I could disclose it the room burst into chaos seeing as Zewu Jun feeling guilty had explained our investigation and this agitated the people gathered to the point that swords were raised and pointed at me.

And he helped me . Again!

Seeing as people were atleast not that aggressive I told Lan Zhan to lower the sword so that we can talk logic. But as soon as he did and backed off that the other person attacked me. In desperation I caught the nearest sword and defended myself.
But little did I know it was a trap.
Just then JGY went on to reveal my identity with a lot of exaggeration and provocation. Purposely adding comments and reminder of my deeds.

Lan Zhan tried to save me again but we were caught on the steps. Seeing as there was no way this could end well I push him away.
This is the only way you can stay clear of the scrutiny and even if anyone wonders why you were even close to the demonic cultivator, no one would doubt your stance with righteousness.

"Lan Zhan, go away, tell them I tricked you and you knew nothing, I'll handle the rest"

" Wei Ying, staying on a narrow plank dark path is also good"
Oh Lan Zhan, Lan Zhan you remember such insignificant thing too. What will I do with you. Why can't you see what's good for you.

" I give you last chance, you can still go back"
" Too much talk"
Ah Lan Zhan , I will keep talking entire life if you want. But if you, after everything I did still decide to stay with me, fight beside me, I can try to be worthy of you. I won't push you away anymore my love.

During our little life altering conversation everyone had gathered around and started spouting nonsense.

Really too much talk.
" Fight! "

We fought our way out but Jin Ling stopped me. With troubled eyes he asked me if I really am Wei Wuxian. I know he wanted to confirm that am I the Wei wuxian that killed his parents and made him an orphan. There is so much guilt and pain that I can't even begin to explain it to him, and what can I even say in my defence.

But as I moved to leave saying we can talk about this later, I felt a piercing pain in my abdomen. Maybe it's fate that he stabbed me in the exact spot where his uncle had all those years ago. I can't help but utter those words remembering the previous experience.

And then Lan Zhan took me away.
I wish this was him taking me away into sunset for living happily ever after but alas this is reality not the dream world.
So our destination is Cloud Recess. As if I needed any more slaps of reality

I manage to convince Zewu Jun and Lan Zhan with the letter and things I saw in empathy. We come to the conclusion the incorrect tune in the song that JGY played for Chifeng-jun belonged to songs of turmoil that could be the cause of his qi deviation, hallucinations and eventual death. Zewu-jun still wanted to trust JGY and took upon himself to investigate on the songs.

When later JGY arrived to ask for permission to search and concern regarding missing of the sect heirs and disciples where everyone believes it to be me and there is also disturbances observed in the Burial mounds. I must admit that he has a golden tongue and knows where and how much to push to get results.

We decided to split , Zewu Jun will accompany JGY and Lan Zhan and I would go check at Burial mounds.
