37. We can make it?

Previously:

I found something fishy with "Bai Qian" and Mi Gu, so I tried to subtly protect A-Li but in the scuffle, I was thrown away unable to get up. Jiejie came but could not help and the imposter took A-Li away along with a corpse. Due to the throw, I feel intense pain in my abdomen. With the pain coursing through me I ask jiejie to help all three kids before the waves of pain pulled me under.

Back to WuXian POV:

There was a slow hum of energy within me which was growing hotter and more chaotic as time went. With each passing second, there was a wave of pain washing over me. I tried to call out to jiejie to save my babies but could only manage

a painful cry

before the waves pulled me under.

But I was not completely unconscious after throwing up what seemed like all the blood I had painstakingly accumulated, like the piles of jars of wine I used to love to drink. So much blood, all gone, seeping in the ground.

I could hear trace of panicking in Jie's tone, though she tried to conceal and be the rock I needed. She left my side, speaking to someone I could not hear, I guess it must be to Bai Qian or Ye Hua to get A-Li back to safety. I could faintly hear A-Ning's concerned voice, then Jiejie's, asking him to help A-Li, while A-Yang and Mi Gu would stay back here.

When she left my side, I could feel cold seeping in. Before I could panic further, she was back, sternly calling out instructions to be carried out.

Then I felt someone carrying me, this steadiness despite faint trembling, this warmth could only be my didi, A-Yang. Opening my blurry eyes, I confirmed what I already knew. I could vaguely see him carrying me back to the cave. Probably there was not enough time to go to our prepared medical room.

Just then another burst of pain shot through me. Jiejie rushed back to check my pulse, her face turning grim. She turned to A-Yang, "This hit has caused his previous wounds to flare up. He has lost too much blood and his internal organs have taken a huge hit", she said, her lips pursed.

When she turned to me and saw that I was awake enough, she came to explain the details to me, to make sure I am aware of what is happening and not blindly anxious about what she would be doing next.

After explaining, she hesitated for a bit but continued, "A-Ying, you have taken a huge hit, and with all the injuries collating, your body does not have enough energy for the babies to be successfully delivered if we dampen the already rapidly diminishing energy within you. Administrating anesthesia will not be possible"

Looks like its golden-core-loss day all over again.

"NO! He cannot bear it. I will give him my energy. I have a lot and he can take it all. Please jiejie." A-Yang sobbed out, begging her.

She slowly closed her eyes, hiding all the swirling emotions and sighed. "Even if you provide him all your energy during the delivery, it will still not be enough. He has to stay awake. As it is the chances have reduced to 10%"

My heart skipped a beat. We could not delay it a bit longer. "I am ready jiejie. Please make sure the babies are alright. I will do my best. Nothing can happen to my babies." Opening her eyes again, she looked at me, gone was the turbulence, giving way to determination, to fight it till the end and win it.

Stay with me kiddos. My hand stroked my abdomen, giving strength and comfort to them, "Don't worry babies I will not let anything happen to you both."

I closed my eyes, thinking of him, needing his stupid rare smirk to ground me but I shoved it down.
