(Continuation Chapter 28)
"Hey Dabi?"
The now white haired male laying next to her hummed for her to continue the question she wanted to ask him.
Realizing they were both just drunk and touch deprived, they'd stopped before it went too far. They were just resting in silence now, enjoying each other's presence for the time being, relationship upgraded to cuddle buddies. Nothing sexual as it would be wrong.
Hearing his heartbeat had worked in a relaxing manner and she'd almost drifted off to sleep if it wasn't for the sudden question that had popped up in her head. She propped up her head on her hand and looked up at him from her position on his chest which was still scar free.
"Do you hate Shouto?"
A raised brow followed by a laugh was given to her instead of an answer. She didn't understand what was so funny about her question. She'd expected it to be a heavy subject and was ready to have a serious conversation if needed, but not this.
"I thought you'd want to confirm that we're friends now but you're asking about my youngest brother who thinks I'm dead instead. Why, you want a threesome?"
Something about the way he said it so casually and lightheartedly made her doubt if she was still with Dabi a.k.a. Touya Todoroki and not some impostor or Toga in disguise as he was changing from the written character he had been before. Which, now that she was thinking again, was obvious because he was his own person now and not someone's creation.
"That kiss was like kissing the homies goodnight, just two friends being drunk. Don't push your luck you burnt kebab."
She poked his chest with her index finger, a warning tone in her voice.
"As long as you don't catch any feelings and ruin it, Homie."
He was teasing her now. Realizing this she simply chuckled and waved it off.
"Don't worry about that, my heart already belongs to another. It's you who I'm worried about. I'm irresistible so I can't blame you for falling for me."
He laughed loudly and it made her smile because it wasn't a psycho-laugh, it was a genuine this-is-funny-laugh. She wasn't offended by it as she was obviously joking about it too.
"Nah, being friends is the closest as I've ever been to anyone and that's close enough for the coming 69 years. Daddy-issues ya know?"
"Oh I know all too well, don't forget about the additional trust, commitment, abandonment and so many more other issues."
"Gotta love us bonding over childhood trauma."
"Ya know, Shouto can relate to that too."
When she mentioned him again the chain of dark humor stopped and it got silent. She looked at him waiting for an answer but he was fixated on the ceiling and didn't meet her stare even when he spoke after a few seconds.
"I don't hate him."
She sat up so he could talk more comfortably and Dabi followed her change of position, sitting against the backboard of the bed himself now.
"I can't hate him. Enji neglected me even more than Natsuo and Fuyumi so he could focus on the child that didn't turn out a mistake. As soon as Shouto's Quirk developed Enji trained him day in and day out, exploiting his own son for his own fucking selfishness and ego bigger than his bullshit. Shouto didn't ask for that. He just happened to be born with the perfectness that I lacked."
He stopped talking after that, giving her a moment to process what he had just said. Dabi didn't mean any harm towards his younger brother, he even sympathized with him. He blamed his whole family for his misfortune except for Shouto.
"He hates Endeavor too. Despises him for everything too."
Dabi looked at her and let her speak without interrupting. He remembered seeing his little brother the night the League kidnapped her and Bakugou. But he'd always secretly kept an eye on him, not too much as to become suspicious but at least once year so he had not missed how he had grown up to the boy he was today.
"You changed from the Dabi I know, but so has he. You're still a criminal yes, but you're not a psychopath. As for Shouto, he supposedly makes up with Endeavor and connects the family together again, but now... he did ask me to go along when he visited your mother one day and although he faced her, his hatred for Endeavor has grown instead of decreasing."
Dabi took in the information she gave him and she could see how much it surprised him to hear that. But it also pleased him, it meant much more possibility than he had first expected. He didn't have to kill Shouto in order to hurt Enji Todoroki, instead he should work together with his brother and repay their father together.
"You want to connect me and Shouto don't you?"
"I do. I think that would be best for the both of you and the worst for that asshole."
He chuckled and wrapped his arms around her waist before pulling her up on his lap and looking into her eyes. Every time he did, he was met with a realness he never got from anyone else because she decided to be only that.
"I adore that you hate my old man as much I do."
"Don't get turned on by my wish to murder him, that's weird."
She chuckled when he shrugged at her statement, not dismissing it as false. She had gotten an answer to her question and had also understood Dabi's intentions more now so she left the topic at that.
"I have a plan."
"Tell me about it when I finish mine first."
Dabi's lips curled into a smirk and she almost forgot that there used to be staples next to them before. His tone had made her suspicious and the look he gave her verified that, making her almost uncertain if she wanted to know what that was but she still asked nonetheless, her curiosity taking the best of her yet again.
"My plan is you, (Y/N)."
"God, you won't let me live will you?"
She smacked him with her pillow, trying to wipe that smug grin of his off his face.
"It's revenge for pushing away when you realized it was me kissing you and not Bakugou."
