Sarah P.O.V

After a Month

I tossed restlessly in my bed; it was almost four in the morning, and I hadn't been able to sleep the whole night. Today, I would be exchanging wedding vows with Adrian, and I was extremely nervous.

Time certainly flies. It has been almost a month since the wedding was announced and since I last saw Adrian at that party. I wasn't looking forward to seeing him again, but I hoped to at least meet him and clear up our misunderstandings. We might as well be friends for the sake of this marriage.

Additionally, I had been so busy managing the company affairs that I hardly had any time to talk to him or meet him. Over the past few years, my father seemed to have done everything possible to ruin Amario Enterprises. I bet if Grandpa hadn't suggested the merger, the company would have gone bankrupt within a year or two. The entire month had passed in sorting out the company issues.

On a brighter note, Ester had finally moved to NYC. I offered her a position in my company, but she insisted on going through the interview process like everyone else. I explained everything to her—the marriage, the merger—and while she was initially opposed to the wedding, she eventually understood my situation.

Snapping out of my thoughts, I saw the sun's rays peeking through the clouds. I enjoyed watching the sunrise while sipping my coffee. Once I finished my coffee, I gathered myself and headed straight to the bathroom for a relaxing bath.

It had been more than two hours since I sat in front of the mirror. The hairstylist was styling my hair, and the makeup artist was working on my face. Even though I told Grandma I didn't need them, she insisted that I look my best.

After an hour, my makeup was complete. I took my wedding dress and, with Ester's help, put it on. The lacy mermaid dress fit me perfectly.

"My God, Sarah, you look so gorgeous," Ester said, holding my upper arm

"My God, Sarah, you look so gorgeous," Ester said, holding my upper arm.

I thanked her with a small smile. The hairstylist was giving my hair the final touches. My makeup was minimal: my cheeks were highlighted with blush, and the highlighter was perfectly applied to the high points of my face. I opted for nude tones on my eyes and lips, not wanting to go overboard.

I saw Grandma and Lauren enter the room, their expressions reflecting astonishment.

"Dear, you look just like your mother—absolutely beautiful," Grandma said, wiping her tears with a napkin. I offered her a small smile in return.

"Dear, I want you to wear this for your wedding." Lauren spoke, presenting a stunning diamond Riviere necklace. "This was gifted to me by my mother-in-law, and now I'm passing it on to you." Lauren continued. I hesitated at first but eventually accepted and wore it.

"Thanks, Lauren," I said softly.

"I know you will be a wonderful wife to Adrian and a great daughter to us," Lauren said, placing her hand on my shoulder.
