Sarah P.O.V

I leaned my head back against the bathtub, contemplating how drastically my life had changed in recent months. It had been two weeks since Jessica had shown up at my house, and two weeks since Adrian had stood by my side. I was still amazed by the transformation in Adrian. It was hard to believe he was the same person who had despised my very existence a few months ago.

Even now, Adrian continued to stay at my house, behaving like the perfect husband, despite knowing we couldn't have a future together. I had already told him that his efforts wouldn't change my decision, yet he persisted, convinced that his actions might alter my feelings.

The only bright spot in the past week was the growing friendship between Alessandro and me. Even Ester had met him and was now pushing me to take our relationship to the next level.

Honestly, I hadn't expected Alessandro to be so remarkable. However, I soon discovered that he was entirely different from the other men I had encountered. Over these weeks, I realized he was a clear-minded individual with a fantastic sense of humor. Unlike me, he knew exactly what he wanted from life, both personally and professionally.

What I appreciated most about Alessandro was his preference for a simple life over the choosy and sophisticated. He often took me to low-key yet beautiful places away from the city's hustle and bustle, valuing comfort over extravagance. It had become a daily ritual for us to meet, either for lunch or dinner. Today, we were meeting at Ester's house for our Sunday brunch.

Even though this wasn't our first meeting, the thought of seeing him again made my heart flutter. I knew I shouldn't act like a teenager, but I couldn't help it.

I quickly finished my bath, dressed in a loose crop hoodie and high-waist jeans, applied sunscreen, blow-dried my hair, and put on my shoes. Grabbing my phone, I walked into the living room, only to find it empty. It was noon, and Adrian was nowhere in sight—a welcome change, as he always acted possessively whenever he heard Alessandro's name.

Despite having told him there was no us, he still behaved as if we were a normal couple. Thank goodness I didn't have to deal with him this morning.

I hurriedly stepped out of the house, got into my car, and drove to Ester's place. After parking, I made my way to her floor. Just as I was about to enter the building, I spotted Alessandro leaning against his car.

"Hey! What are you doing down here?" I greeted him, walking in his direction.

"Hey," he replied, returning the hug. "I was just about to head upstairs."

"Come on, let's go up now. I'm starving," I said, grabbing his wrist and pulling him along. Instead of moving forward, Alessandro pulled me back, causing my body to press against his chest.

"You look absolutely beautiful, Sarah," he said in his deep voice, gently tucking a strand of hair behind my ear.

"Ah... thank you," I replied, blushing and looking down at my feet to hide my flushed face.

Alessandro's compliments always had a way of making me feel special.

"Let's go up before Ester decides to cancel our brunch," I said, rolling my eyes.

Alessandro chuckled as I dragged him toward the elevator.

We reached Ester's apartment and knocked on the door twice. It flew open to reveal Noah with a smile.

"Hey, Noah. I didn't know you'd be here too," I said, giving him a side hug.

Entering the house, I saw Ester setting the table. I walked toward her, while Alessandro and Noah's voices filled the background as they introduced themselves to each other.
