16 - Sarawat's POV

CHAPTER 16
Sarawat’s POV
“you seem very bothered, are things not going on well at home?” Boss asked as we were eating lunch at the company cafeteria “I was supposed to tell Tine about the offer Ms. Ploy mentioned, but one problem occurred and I don’t know how to bring it up anymore” “what problem?” “did you know that Man and P’Type are here? They came here to inform us that Tine and P’Type’s parents are coming to Bangkok in a month to meet Man and I. If I were to agree to that offer, we are supposed to leave next month too. If I bring it up, will he agree?”
“I think, we should just reject the offer of Ms. Ploy and work on the completion of our internship manually here. Look, I am not saying this because you and Man are my friends, I am saying this because I smell something fishy with Ms. Ploy. There are a lot more capable employees here who are more deserving to go more than us.  Why is she sending us? Don’t you feel weird about this?” I have known the second I was accepted here that Ms. Ploy really has a thing for me but I just neglected it.
“well, I still want to mention it to Tine. I have always told him about everything, but I am scared. He is already expecting that me, meeting his parents will turn out just smoothly. But now, I don’t know anymore and Ms. Ploy could’ve been expecting that we’d go too. What am I supposed to do?”. Now I am torn into two things, my lover or my work. “well, that could really be tough. No one knew that we’d be offered to go on a trip for Ms. Ploy and no one knew that their parents would be curious and wants to meet you”
What am I supposed to do? Should I tell my boyfriend about it or not? Should I just go with what Boss said and reject Ms. Ploy’s offer to go on the summit? I have been home from work ages ago but I am still very worried, wether I should tell my boyfriend or not. “Wat! Are you ok? I have been calling you for ages” I was shocked “uh? Sorry, I was in the middle of something” “what something? That summit that you were offered to go by your boss?” wait, how did he know about that?
“how did you know?” “Boss felt sorry for you, so he told me himself because he said you looked very worried. Look, Sarawat if you are not yet ready to meet my parents I am not pushing you. If you want to go and take that offer, I will be very lonely but I am ok. I will be just fine so you don’t need to worry, but the last decision will be yours. No matter what you choose to do I will not be mad ok,? if you want to stay then stay if you want to go then go. Your choice doesn’t really change a thing between us, I am still your boyfriend no matter what”

“but I don’t know what to choose. My boss is rushing me to give her answer if I’ll take the offer or not. After the summit, if the client likes our performance then we’d be permanent employees signing in a new contract. I want to know what your stand is about this, your opinion means the most to me” “my stand is your choice. No matter what you decide to do, that will be my stand. It shouldn’t be that hard, just choose what your heart is telling you to do. Just like when you chose to love me when tons of girls are running after you, you chose me because that is what your heart is telling you to do. So just do the same, choose what you think is the best for you, you’re old enough to do that. Just know that whatever that is I won’t be mad”
I am so lucky that I have such a very understanding lover, I don’t know what I did in my past life to deserve him. I am just too lucky aren’t I? I woke up surprisingly that Tine is still beside me but already awake. He was just staring at me waiting for me to wake up. “what are you doing? Aren’t you scared that you’d be late from work?” I asked him.  “I am more scared that you won’t go to work. I know you slept very late, so? Have you thought about it thoroughly?” he asked, but still I don’t know the answer.
“I want to meet your parents. Tell you what, you are more important than everything I have right now. And besides, I can work manually on the completion of my internship even without going to that summit. If  Ms. Ploy gets angry about my choice then I can just quit and move to another company”. I think my choice is the right one for me. If I don’t meet Tine’s parents I might miss my chance and who knows when they’ll be back in Bangkok. And even if Tine can explain for me, I don’t want them to have a bad impression on me that I am iresponsible. I want to prove to them that I can exchange anything for their son and that I can be responsible for him.
“are you sure about that Babe? It might take time to find a new job” he sounded worried, “yes it is, to those who don’t have Sarawat Guntithanon’s charm” I joked, we both laughed “I respect your decision. And I don’t really like your boss so if she fires you then better” he said and went to shower. I think it’ll take time to make Ms. Ploy understand my decision.
At work, I talked about it to Boss. “so you chose your lover? Well, I have already expected that you will do so. That is why I told Ms. Ploy that I’ll go with what your decision is. Because I already knew, that no matter what is at stake, you will choose Tine over and over again. Because you love him so much.” “how can I not? I have searched all over Thailand just to find him, now “stop teasing me! Oh, by the way Man said he wants to get drunk together. Let’s go out drinking together”. Man said that he rarely had a chance to go out with officemates because he is so busy, since he is here he wants to catch up and drink together. “sure, but on one condition. Don’t bring your wives, I’ll feel left out” “that’s just impossible, Tine is on the same circle of friends. Let’s have his friends join us too. Look, P’Type may not be the person who’s very friendly before but he keeps a close eye on Man  right now so that can’t be. I told you didn’t I? why not ask Pear to date you already. So you will have someone with you too”
After work, I asked Boss that I’ll go home first and take Tine with me. But I have already left the gang a message online the location of the bar that Man said. As I arrived at home Tine wasn’t still home. “Phukong,  do you want to sleepover at P’Mil’s place tonight?” “this is so not like you. Why? Are you gonna do something heavenly with P’Tine that you don’t want me to see or hear?”
“are you crazy?! Of course not! Man asked us to go drinking with him, all the members of the gang are going. And we might be back later than expected, for sure Tine won’t enjoy if you’re here left all alone. Because he will be worried about you, so? Do you want to go?” “I don’t think that is a great idea. P’Mil, stays with his family what do you think will his parents say?” I was shocked when I heard Tine spoke out from the door.
“Phukong you should just stay here at home.  Sarawat and I won’t stay out late” he gave the decision, I think I should just go with that. We left home as soon as he finished changing up his clothes. “I want to remind you Wat, we are not in college anymore. You can’t just go tell Phukong to sleepover at his boyfriend’s place just because you want to go drinking all night. We have work now, and we have your brother too. We can’t stay out drinking all night like how we used too”
“are you mad? I’m sorry, I just thought that maybe you need a break from work” seems like a lot has really changed. “you are my break. Our place is already rest for me, we don’t have to go drinking. And I am not mad, I just want to tell you that we are not being sustained by our parents anymore so we have to be practical. We are yet to start our own life here babe. You must think as someone who’s already with a family and not the single Sarawat anymore”
“mmm, I’ll keep that in mind. I’m sorry” Yeah, I have totally forgotten what has changed between us. We are now working, we have already started a life together and we can’t just have fun all the time.  And we have Phukong too, Tine is right I have to become a family man now. Being at home with both of them should be enough rest for me too.

“oh! Wat and Tine are here!” Man shouted “hey!” I came running to them, they have started drinking already. “let’s have a toast for me and Sarawat getting to meet our n laws very soon” “cheers!!!” this guy is crazy, how can that be called in laws when we haven’t even gotten married. But let it be anyway “so? How was the life in Phuket?” asked Ohm “tough, just as tough as working here like you all do. But it’s pretty relaxing because our place there is surrounded by nature waters. So it’s really internal rest” Man answered.
“we should all go and have a visit there some time” said Phuek “that’s not a bad idea. I mean, I want to know what their house looks like” agreed Boss “Hey Wat! Let’s go there when we file for a leave” said Boss “are you even thinking? We are not permanent employees yet and you want to file for a leave” we all laughed “how’s the Boss – Pear tandem you’ve been planning?” Tine asked, how did he even know about that? He’s been so busy with work lately..
“how did you know about that? I thought you’ve been focusing on work lately” I asked him “yeah, I might be busy lately but I never forget the issues of my friends. And I am so close to Pear too so how can I not know?” he answered “nothing’s really up as of the moment. I don’t even know where should I start” Boss said, “but you’ve been going out on dates for so long. I even thought you’re already together”. P’Type and I just thought the same but I was totally mistaken when Boss told me about it.
“well it’s true. We’ve been going out on dates for quite some time, but we are not really officially dating. I don’t have the confidence yet, I mean I don’t have a stable job to be able to tell her that I want to be her boyfriend” “what’s profession have to do with it? Even if she’s already a doctor if you really love her then nothing is wrong. No matter in what state you are, if you have pure and sincere feelings then what is there to be scared about? Someone has been keeping an eye at Pear too you know? She won’t be single forever so you must hurry and build that confidence of yours already”
What Tine said, I hope it made Boss understand and decide how he really feels for Pear. I want someone to take care of him already, he’s been single since college what on earth is even waiting for. “Tine, how’s internship?” asked P’Type “so hard P, but im holding unto it tightly. I want to become a lawyer finally, the board exams and what I have to go through in college I don’t want it to go to waste. And I want to move to a more comfortable house when Sarawat and I finally becomes permanent employees. I feel bad for Phukong who now stays with us, he sleeps in the sofa and I know how uncomfortable that is. I promised their parents that I’ll take good care of them. Not just of Sarawat just because he is my boyfriend but of Phukong too as his guardian while he is here with us”
