21 - Tine's POV

CHAPTER 21
Tine’s POV
When I woke up, I was covered in blanket and Sarawat is no longer beside me. I went out and found him cooking while Phukong was setting the table. “you know what P? you’ll get sick in no time if you keep doing an overtime. You’ll just make things worse, if you get sick when you meet your parents what would they say about P’Sarawat? You’ll ruin his first impression on them” I was shocked, Phukong said all that without stopping what he is doing. He must’ve sensed me coming here and my presence.
“Phukong, we should not talk about that? I don’t want to ruin my mood early in the morning” Sarawat sounded cold, I think he’s mad but neglected that when he took me here earlier at dawn. I think he’s gonna scold me about what happened.  “babe, are you mad? You don’t have to take it on Phukong. Talk to me, what’s wrong?” “I am not mad, you know that. But I can’t really talk about it now, I don’t want Phukong to see us fighting as it might change the way he respects us. Let’s talk about it personally when I get back from work”
He left after eating, I bet he really was mad. He didn’t talk to me after that and didn’t even kiss my forehead like the usual. I knew we had to talk, so I asked for permission to have a work from home just for today and go back to my normal work schedule tomorrow without taking an all nigh shift. I think, we’ll break up if I continue to do it. I cooked food for Phukong so he can eat here, and Sarawat and I will eat outside so we can talk.
“P, if you’re gonna fight just fight ok? Don’t break up” Phukong reminded me “don’t worry, this is just a little misunderstanding. You’ll still be able to take a break from your paper and have a short vacation in Phuket with us” I winked, I know he was all worried for that. I waited for Sarawat outside his work building and he went out after a minute. “are you ok now? Are you not tired anymore? Did you get enough sleep?”
“don’t worry, I’m ok now. I came because you said that we should talk. Let’s have dinner outside” we ate at the usual place we do back in college, he also took me here when we graduated to celebrate getting off from books. “tell me, why are you frustrated?” “I am not. I just felt bad. I feel like I wasn’t doing enough work for you get too tired like that. Tine, you know how weak my heart is when it comes to you. I’d rather have us break up than you ending up hurting yourself. I told you didn’t I? please try to not make me worry”

“I know, I’m sorry that you got worried. But Sarawat, I want to make just as much effort as you do. I don’t want you to handle everything alone, what’s the purpose of us being together if you don’t let me help you. I know you love and care for me, because I do too. But that is not reasonable, even if you love me you cannot stop me from doing work. I want the flow of us now being together meeting my parents to go well. And in order to do so, both us should work on it and not you alone.”
“I know, I was just worried. I want you to take the best care of yourself Tine, even if I can do that too you should help me worry for yourself too. Remember that we are together, if you are hurt and sick I get twice as much because  I don’t want to see you in pain. There will be no next time because I am not letting you take an all night shift ever again. Do you get me?” “I know, I already told my boss about it. I was scared that you might ask me to quit work. And I don’t want too, so I better go back to my normal work schedule”
“good that you know. By the way? We’re going to leave soon, are you gonna be done with work soon?” he asked “mmm, just a check up and I’m done. After I’m done I will pack our clothes, I also have to help Phukong pack his clothes too. You know, he’s such an forgetful guy.. so I have to help him pack and double check his things” “you know what? Phukong is not a kid anymore. If you keep doing that he might get dependent on you”
“let him be. I am one of his guardians aren’t I? I want him to ask for my help all the time. I as well, can know how he is doing and what’s happening in his life lately. He’s family Wat, so I want take care of him just as much as I do my best to take care of you. I want him to be open to me about everything, I want to make him feel that he can tell me everything” “you don’t sound like my boyfriend at all, you sound like our biological mother” “I’ll take that as a compliment then. Let’s eat?”
After eating dinner we drove back fast. When we got back, Phukong was watching a movie. “so? Did you talk it out? Are you on good terms now?” Phukong started talking right after I opened the door “you’re creeping me out! Why are your senses so sensitive?” Sarawat asked “what are they used for if I can’t feel if someone is around or not? You didn’t even answered my question. Are you on good terms now?” “we didn’t fight, we just talked. Talked about matters that you are still too young to know about. Are we clear now?” I explained it to him
“yes P’Tine. By the way I cleaned my luggage already, I think I should start packing tomorrow” “great, I’ll help you pack your things so won’t leave anything behind” “really? That’s so nice of you P’Tine”

I finished my work and sent it via email today. I was slowly fixing Phukong’s things when P’Type called..
“P, what’s up?”
“nothing, just wanna do a check on you? How’s work?”
“I already handled it, and Sarawat’s processing his leave too. I am currently helping Phukong pack his things. I assure you, we’ll be ready to leave tomorrow”
“can’t believe you’re all doing this things for your boyfriend’s brother. You’ve never been so into housekeeping like you are now”
“well, it’s my responsibility now. We are not in the state like you and Man do where we can hire people to do things like this in our house. We are not permanent employees yet, so our salary is just enough for our food and utility bills”
“stop comparing it will you? Man and I worked hard to get where we are right now. And we are not rich as you imagine it to be. We just saved enough money to afford a comfortable house. It’s just spacious not a mansion”
“I know, I didn’t say it was a mansion ok. But you get to be a permanent employee because Phuket don’t have much companies as here, so they lack workers there, it’s easy to be hired”
“why don’t you consider working here too? The law offices here are always hiring. Why don’t you think about it?”
“I did, but if we do move there Sarawat might not want to go back to his hometown. Phuket is far, and he is lazy taking flghts. I promised his parents that I’ll bring him home from time to time. If we move there, it’ll be too far”
“you’re now really family oriented. I don’t count you as a person who just dates, your now a person who dates and has a family he cares for too”
“you can say that. It’s very stressful actually but I have fun caring and worrying for Phukong and Sarawat so I think that the stress is very worth it”
“well, I hope you never get tired of it”

“what did P’Type said P?” Phukong asked “nothing important just a certain check up on how we are doing”

After packing his clothes, it took half of the day and both of us we’re tired and drained out. So I decided to take him out for lunch, “wow P, food here tastes awesome”, his eyes were sparkling “mmm, your brother and I eats here on special occasions. Now, the three of us will eat here together. By the way, have you told P’Mil that you’re coming with us to Phuket?” “well, I haven’t yet. He’s not around as of the moment so I find it so hard to tell him. He might say that I took advantage of his work out of town to get a vacation”
“it’s fine. I can call him so the two of us can talk to him, I’ll help you” “really P? that’s great I am sure he’ll understand it better if you talk to him” “Phukong, you could’ve just asked me if you needed my help. Why do you always wait for me to offer my help to you?” “it’s because I don’t want to trouble you P, it’s hard to take care of my brother as his mood changes fast and easily. I don’t want to become a burden more than I already do. I opposed to my mom’s idea to let me stay here even if I need to, to be able to explore more about my paper because I don’t want you to think that I am taking advantage of you just because your on the bridge of marrying brother”
“Phukong, why would I think like that? Ever since I started dating your brother, I have thought of you as my family too. And I accepted you here with us gladly, you don’t have to worry about it. I promised your mom that no matter how busy I get, I will do my best to look closely to you and your brother and take the best care of you two. As long as you stay with us, I am your guardian. So don’t hesitate to ask for my help and open up to me. We have to work together,  you have to cooperate to me too so we can all live here happily. Can you promise me that you’ll tell me everything from now on?”
“yes P, I promise you that I will have you updated about everything happening to me. And I am so sorry if I thought that way about you P, it’s just everything was so new to me and I was still adjusting. My  brother never had a lover before I don’t have any idea of how it feels how to be taken cared of by your brother’s lover” “it’s ok, I get that. Just promise me that you’ll slowly open your heart for me and treat me as family too. I on the other hand will keep my promise to your mom to take good care of you and your brother”
“my brother and I is so lucky to have you P, you are very caring and nice. And even if we don’t want too, you always worry and think about us even when your at work. Thank you P, for making me feel less lonely of missing my mom and dad. Because I have someone who cares for me as much as my mom does and cooks great food too as much as mom does. Thanks P,”
