Not super proud with the outcome, and even though its pretty long for a drabble I'm still posting it here for consistency.
Without fail, Bdubs would wake Etho every day with a cheerful; "Good morning, I love you!" Of course, it was always interpreted as; "Good morning, I'm hungry" but it didn't bother him too much.
Just like every morning, his roommate sat up and lightly laughed, petting his head as Bdubs sat patiently in his lap. "So, have any plans for today? It is my day off," Etho asked, scratching behind his ear.
He thought for a moment before shaking his head. "Nope! I just want to spend all day with you!"
Etho hummed. "I bet you want me to leave you alone, huh? Don't worry I can do that!"
His words filled the brown tabby with worry. "What? No, I don't want that!" He protested, standing up. "I love you, and I love spending time with you!"
The white-haired man ended up laying back as he crawled up his chest to kiss his chin, doing his best to let him know he loved him. Etho laughed, his hand on his back.
"Sorry, was that not right? Y'know I'm starting to wonder if you actually can understand me."
He continued to fervently kiss his face until he finally pulled back and gazed at him. "I love you so much," he murmured.
Much to his surprise, his roommate pushed himself up a little and kissed his nose.
His heart pounded at the affection, as simple as it was. If only he could properly kiss him if only he could talk to him.
"I love you, Bdubs."

Etho was sure he wasn't a sane person.
Because surely, a sane person wouldn't think they heard their cat respond to them saying 'I love you' with, "I really love you too."
"What?" He whispered, a part of him wondering, no, hoping he was still dreaming.
And then he realized that yes, he was definitely dreaming because his beloved pet cat began to glow. He squeezed his eyes shut and looked away, the strange light too blinding.
Suddenly, he felt as if something heavier than a cat was sitting on him.
Then he realized something heavier than a cat was sitting on him.
He wasn't sure if he should scream or shove the stranger suddenly on top of him.
But because he couldn't make up his mind, Etho just stared at the man above him.
Tan, freckled skin, with a familiar shade of light brown for hair partially covering his all-too-familiar heterochromatic green and brown eyes. Not to mention the said man didn't have a shirt on, but thankfully there was a pair of... shorts? Boxers?
The man had pants and that was good enough for him.
Speaking of whom, the stranger seemed to be silently freaking out as well and was just frantically looking at his arms and touching his hair and face.
"Bdubs?" Etho whispered, gaining his attention. "What kind of messed up dream is this?"
"If you're dreaming then I'm dreaming too," he muttered, staring at his hands. "What happened to me?"
Slowly sitting up, he gripped his bedsheets. "Bdubs," he quietly repeated, still trying to believe what he was seeing. "You're... Bdubs. My cat. But you're- this- how did this happen?! I mean- you're speaking!"
