The angst keeps coming

Bdubs could hardly see three feet in front of him as he trudged through the rain. Tears mixed with droplets of water streaked down his cheeks. He shivered, cursing at himself for not grabbing a coat or an umbrella. He was at least thankful the shirt he was wearing had long sleeves. As the rain continued to pour, he could only see the glow of street lamps in front of him. A part of him wanted to turn back, to take that walk of shame back to the apartment, and apologize. But no, Bdubs was too stubborn and prideful to go back. Not after that scene he just made. So instead he pushed on, hoping to eventually find his apartment complex soon.

The small male paused for only a moment, listening carefully. Besides the sound of rain splashing against the sidewalk, he could just make out footsteps. They were mostly drowned out, but he knew they were there. He was honestly shocked. If it was who he thought it was, then he wanted to keep moving.

"I made the right decision," he muttered to himself as he continued walking. Sloshing through the numerous puddles, Bdubs jumped as a car drove by. Thankfully, water splashed only his ankles, which at this point didn't matter since his feet were already soaked.

His heart dropped to his stomach as he heard the faint calling of his name. He froze like a deer in headlights, unable to move or breathe. I knew he followed me, but why? Shouldn't he be glad that I'm finally leaving him alone?

Somehow his hand found a wall of a building. Since it was so late at night, he wasn't surprised it was closed. The soaked brunette let out a disappointed sigh when he realized the coffee shop he was by. I'm barely even halfway there. Cursing to himself, he ran a hand through his soaked hair and continued to walk.

The further he walked the more tired he felt and the harder it seemed to rain. Eventually, his legs gave out and he dropped, hugging his knees on the wet sidewalk. Bdubs continued to sob as he scolded himself for being a dumbass. I should've noticed. How long did he feel that way? Maybe the only reason he agreed to go out with me was that he pitied me.

As if things couldn't get any worse, the footsteps drew nearer and the voice became louder. Oh great, here he comes to scold me. Can't wait. He sarcastically thought. He refused to look up and kept his face buried in his knees.

Suddenly, the rain stopped attacking him. Instead, he heard the patter of raindrops above him.

"Figured you could use an umbrella," the taller male said. Bdubs couldn't see it, but he could hear the soft smile in his voice.

"Yeah yeah, I get it. I'm a dumbass who shouldn't have run out during a rainstorm. Go ahead and yell at me some more, won't ya," he mumbled. Peeking out, he watched as the hybrid knelt beside him, and placed a hand on his arm.

"Please come back with me. I just want to talk," he softly pleaded. Pulling his arm away from his comforting touch, Bdubs stood up, letting the rain pour over him again.

"You don't have to pretend to like me anymore. I get it, okay?" he snapped. The darker brunette slowly stood up, clearly looking hurt.

"I never pretended to like you, Bdubs. I always loved you, and I still do." he insisted.

"Yeah, well, it doesn't feel like it. Just go home," he bitterly muttered.

"Not without you," the hybrid shot back.

"I'm sorry," the freckled brunette hugged himself, still shivering. "You're better off without me," he started to walk away but the taller brunette grabbed his arm.

"That's not true! You don't need to apologize, I'm the one who should be sorry. And I am. I'm sorry Bdubs for snapping at you. I never meant what I said," the darker brunette apologized.

"Maybe you didn't mean it, but that doesn't mean it isn't true. I am clingy and needy. I always take jokes way too far and I'm selfish." Bdubs tried to break free of the male's grasp. A quiet voice in his head told him to turn around, but a louder voice screamed at him to run far away.

But it didn't matter what he contemplating doing, because his boyfriend didn't give him a choice. Yanking him back, the hybrid turned him around and pulled him into a tight hug with his free hand.

Bdubs blinked, trying to keep himself from crying anymore, but failed. Clinging to the taller male's shirt, he let out a sob, tears pouring down his face.

"You're not selfish, Bdubs. You're constantly looking out for me and our friends. I always love your silly jokes and pranks. And I love how clingy you are. It gives me an excuse to always be with you." He spoke softly. The smaller male looked up at him and reached up, giving him a light kiss.

The brunette hybrid leaned down so he could kiss away Bdubs' tears. With one hand on his cheek, rubbing it with his thumb, he kissed his boyfriend's soft lips.

The soaked brunette melted into the touch, all of his negative feelings dissolving.

"Let's head back, we don't need you catching a cold," the tall hybrid whispered when they finally pulled apart.

Bdubs clung onto his tall boyfriend's arm while they walked. He found comfort in the silence and smiled softly.
