Love or Lies?

(3rd person perspective)

  Chase wakes up from his slumber. He yawns and stretches while he gets ready for the day. When he gets to the bathroom to brush his teeth, he finds that Polaroid of him and charli in the counter. He forgot he left it there when he came back from the arcade. He sighs softly, he grabs the Polaroid and puts it in his pocket. He picks up his toothbrush and toothpaste and starts to brush his teeth. He looked down at the sink, avoiding eye contact with the mirror.  He spits out the toothpaste he used and began to rinse his mouth. He finally makes eye contact with the bathroom mirror. "Why am I this way?," he whispered to himself.

        Then he suddenly receives a notification from his phone. He looks at his phone to see who it was. It was Charli. He started to feel even more guilty, for how he felt, and for what he did. He opened the message, she wanted to hang out.

   He texted back, "Sure, what time?" She replied, "I'll be free at 7 PM, is that time okay with u?" Chase had nothing else to do that day, so he replied, "yeah that's fine." She responded, "okay, I'll text u the directions later. See you there 💕."

     Chase knew that what he was doing was wrong. Not because he was in love in with another guy, but because he was being unfaithful to his girlfriend. He didn't know if he was going to break up with her, or keep the relationship going. But regardless of that, he knew he had to make it up to her.

     
      The hours passed by, and it was already time for Chase to go on his date with Charli. She texted him the directions to where she wanted them to meet. Chase put the directions on his phone, and was on his way. While he was driving, he thought to himself about what he was going to do. He knew he couldn't keep lying to her forever.

     He finally arrived to the destination. It was a small park on the top of a hill. He could see her from afar, in a swing set.  He made his way up, and softly tapped charli on the shoulder. She twicthed and quickly turned around. Out of relief, she said, "Oh my God you scared me for a second." She laughed, then said, "Come on, sit down, the sun is about to set." Chase quickly sat down at the swing next to her, as they watched the sunset together. The sunset was bigger than usual, and it was a beautiful shade of red. It was a sky that could take your breath away. He looked at the sun, then looked at charli. The sun made her skin glow, her hair shine, and her eyes sparkle. She was a beautiful girl, no doubt about that. He should be feeling something by now, but he wasn't. Charli noticed that Chase was looking at her, and she smiled. She said, "It's a beautiful sunset, isn't it?" Chase nodded in agreement. She reached out for his hand, as they both watched the hypnotizing sun together.

    Chase could feel Charli's soft hands against his. He felt more confused than ever. He started to second guess his own thoughts, trying to convince himself that he had romantic feelings for her. He thought to himself, "Am I really going to leave a girl I've been dating for months, for a guy I've only known a few days? I'm happy with her, I think. I can't leave her, not like this."
