Suspicions

After Chase and his friends went up to his room, Charli stood alone in the kitchen with her thoughts. She kept thinking bad things, but she didn't want to believe it. The thought of Chase lying to her made her worried. She didn't want to just stand there and do nothing about it. So, she decided to find out for herself. She went up to the stairs to Chase's room. Her plan was to take Chase out of the room for a second and just ask him about it. But, when she got close to the door, she heard Josh say, "Hey dude, is everything okay?" She stood behind the door in silence, waiting to hear what Chase would say. She heard all of their conversation from there. She listened carefully, trying to see what would happen next. Then, a few words later, she heard Chase say, "I was somewhere else yesterday. But I can't say where. It's complicated." The second she heard that, her heart dropped. She felt a profound feeling of sadness. Tears started to come down her face as she ran to her room. She opened the door to her room and jumped to her bed. She put her head under the pillow so they wouldn't hear her cry. And she stayed there for about half an hour. Just laying in bed. Wondering why her boyfriend would lie to her.

Then, she heard some footsteps approaching from afar. She quickly wiped her tears, and pretended to be on her phone. Then, someone entered through the door of her bedroom. It was Dixie, her sister. Dixie sat in Charli's bed and said "Hey Char, I'm gonna go to Sway and see Griffin. Do you wanna come?" Charli shook her head, and softly said, "I'm okay." Dixie noticed that her sister was feeling down. She scooted herself closer to Charli, and said, "I know that face. What's wrong?"

Charli went to close the door her sister left open. She didn't want anyone to hear. Then she quickly went back to bed, and sadly said, "Chase lied to me about where he was. I overheard him say it to Josh and Jaden. And I keep overthinking about it. I just don't get why he would lie to me. I don't know what to do. What should I do?" Dixie took a moment to think about how she was going to answer. She knew that her sister is a sensitive person, so she didn't want to say something that would make her feel worse. She wanted to protect her sister from being hurt. So, she tried to think of something positive AND beneficial to say. Then, she remembered about those surprise concert tickets Chase was going to give Charli. So, she replied, "I think I might know why he didn't tell you where he was."

Charli quickly turned her head towards Dixie and said, "Really??? You know? What is it?" Then Dixie responded "Well, it's a long story. But we played truth or dare at the sway house a while ago, and he ended up telling me that he had a suprise for you. Maybe he didn't tell you where he was because it had something to do with it." Charli eyes opened wide out of curiosity and excitingly said, "PLEASE tell me what the surprise is, I gotta know!" Then Dixie replied, "Well it WAS supposed to be a surprise. BUT... he's planning to get tickets to go see your favorite artist!" Charli happily shouted, "WHAT?!" She hugged Dixie, then started to dance out of excitement.

Dixie smiled at seeing Charli happy.
She was glad that she wasn't sad anymore. But hearing Charli say that Chase was lying to her made her suspicious. She assumed that the concert tickets were the reason he lied to her sister, but she didn't know. She thought to herself, "If that boy is doing anything that could hurt my sister, he's gonna pay."

Little did either of them know, Chase's suprise concert tickets were a lie.

After they had that conversation, Dixie and Charli went downstairs. They saw Josh and Jaden near the front door saying goodbye to Chase. Dixie walked up to them and asked, "Hey guys. I was planning to go see Griffin at Sway today, can I catch a ride in your car?" Josh replied, "Okay, sure, we'll give you a ride." Dixie thanked them and grabbed Charli's arm tight, forcing her to go with her. She thought it would be a good way to distract Charli some more so she wouldn't start to overthink again. Charli slightly resisted her sister's arm grip, but eventually gave in and decided to go with them. Everyone made their way out the door and into Josh's car. Chase waved goodbye to everyone from the door. Then charli looked at Chase with love in her eyes. She was very happy about the news of her surprise. And, she felt bad for ever doubting him. She quickly ran back to the door, hugged Chase, and gave him a kiss on the cheek. Then, she said "Thanks for everything. You're the best boyfriend ever. I love you, bye." Chase was confused as to why she said that, but he smiled and hugged her back. She went back to Josh's car, and they left.

Josh and Jaden were in the front seats, and Dixie and Charli were in the back. Dixie kept thinking about what Charli said to her about Chase. She remembered that Charli told her that Josh and Jaden knew something. So, Dixie had two things in mind now. One was to see her boyfriend Griffin, which was the original reason she was going to Sway. But now she had a second reason. She was going to figure out what Josh and Jaden knew. To ask if they knew anything more that Chase could be hiding.
