Mia's POV

Today, we were scheduled for the conjoined twins' surgery, and as we were getting ready to leave, Teddy walked up to me.

"See you later?" I asked, smiling at her.

Teddy nodded, returning my smile. "See you later." She leaned in, and we kissed before she left.

Suddenly, Arizona's angry voice cut through the air. "You son of a bitch! I had to hear it from Hunt?" She was yelling at Alex. "What, you couldn't be man enough to tell me yourself?"

"Sweetie, she's had a horrible day. I'm so—" Callie started, but Arizona interrupted.

"You ungrateful crap dog!" she snapped.

"It's Hopkins. They want me. You, of all people, should understand," Alex shot back.

"You are a miserable, miserable bastard," Arizona seethed.

"Robbins, they want me, alright? They really want me," Alex defended himself.

"Oh, well, you..." Arizona started before stopping herself. "You're actually going?"

"Can we talk about this when I get back?" Alex asked.

"No!" Arizona shouted, snatching the papers from his hands. I turned to Lexie, shaking my head.

"She's going to kill him," I muttered.

Lexie nodded. "Yeah, I don't think he should have even considered it."

In the end, Arizona came with us. Cristina sat by herself, Meredith sat with Derek, Lexie took a seat at the back, Mark sat up front, and I sat with Arizona as we took off.

"You okay?" I asked her.

She sighed. "It's been a horrible day."

I nodded in understanding. Then, out of nowhere, the plane lurched violently. A deafening noise filled the air, and suddenly, the back of the plane was gone—along with Lexie.

"LEXIE!" I screamed.

Then, everything went black.

I woke up to excruciating pain.

"Mia!" Meredith's voice broke through the haze.

My vision swam as I saw Cristina, Mark, and Meredith looking down at me. My head was pounding, my chest felt like it was caving in, and every breath was a struggle. Panic set in as the pain intensified, and I couldn't stop the scream that tore from my throat.

"Shh, it's okay," Mark soothed, lifting my head slightly. I felt hands pressing on my body, and I panicked.

"Shh, Mia, just keep looking at me," Mark said, gripping my hand tightly. "Can you feel my hand?"

I nodded weakly.

"Okay, this might hurt. Squeeze my hand," he instructed.

Another jolt of pain shot through me. I squeezed his hand with everything I had, screaming as tears spilled down my face.

"I'm so sorry, Mia," Meredith choked out. "You're going to be alright."

"Let's get her near the plane," Cristina said.

Mark nodded, lifting me carefully. Once we reached the plane, Arizona knelt beside me, taking my hand in hers.

"What happened to her?" she asked.

"She had part of the plane inside her. It cut through her lung. She has a concussion and a broken leg," Cristina explained.

Arizona moved closer, gripping my hand tightly. "Stay with me, Mia. Teddy and Callie won't forgive me if I let you die."

I tried to focus on her voice as my eyelids grew heavy.

"Tell me what you love about life right now," she urged.

"Teddy," I whispered.

Arizona smiled despite the situation. "Then imagine being with her. When we get back, she'll be so happy to see you. She loves you so much, Mia. You can't die. Teddy won't survive that—neither would Callie."

Hours passed before Meredith, Cristina, Derek, and Mark returned.

"Where's Lexie?" Arizona asked.

Mark's expression was grim. "Lexie's dead."

I was too exhausted to react. My body was shutting down.

"Mia, how are you feeling?" Cristina asked.

"Tired... I just want to close my eyes," I murmured.

"Mia, please stay awake," Mark pleaded.

"Shh, it's going to be okay," Arizona soothed.

Derek draped a blanket over me as the night grew colder. Mark gave me his jacket, and Cristina placed an oxygen mask on my face.

"Mia, stay awake," Arizona whispered, running her fingers through my hair. "Please don't leave us."

"Tell Teddy I love her," I managed to whisper.

"No, no, no—Mia, stay awake!" Arizona begged, replacing my mask. "Please stay. Don't leave us."

"They'll find us soon," Mark reassured. "I promise."

Teddy's POV

I had been fired, but all I cared about was Mia. It had been four days, and she still hadn't returned. My phone rang, and I snatched it up when I saw Callie's name.

"Callie?" I answered urgently.

"Teddy, they were in a plane crash," Callie said, her voice shaking. "Four days. Owen didn't want me to tell you, but they found them. They're at Boise Memorial. They'll be transported here once Bailey, Owen, and Webber get there."

"What?" I whispered, my heart stopping. "Do you know if Mia is okay?"

"We don't know anything yet."

"Call me when they get here," I demanded.

"Of course."

The call ended, and I screamed in anguish.

Hours later, Callie called again.

"They just got here—"

"I'm coming!" I cut her off, racing to my car.

When I reached the hospital, Callie met me. "Where is she?" I asked frantically.

Callie hesitated. "Teddy... I need you to prepare yourself."

"What?" My voice cracked.

"Mia had to be rushed into the OR."

"No," I choked out, shaking my head. "No."

Callie pulled me into a hug, but I shoved her away. "How do you know she'll be okay?!"

"We're doing everything we can," Callie assured me. "The others—Cristina has a dislocated shoulder, Derek's hand is injured, Meredith has a concussion and a leg injury, Mark is doing the best, and... we might have to amputate Arizona's leg."

"Oh my God." I nodded, tears streaming down my face.

Later, I found Mark. "Tell me everything."

He recounted the crash. By the time he finished, I was sobbing.

Four hours later, Callie found me. "She made it through surgery."

I nearly collapsed in relief.

Four Weeks Later

I sat by Mia's bed, my heart breaking. "I love you, Mia. You're the one. But I have to go to Germany. I don't want to leave you... but I have to. I hope you'll still be single when I come back."

Mia stirred. "Teddy?" she whispered.

"Yes, princess?" I whispered back.

"Kiss me."

I kissed her, pouring all my love into it.

"See you next time," Mia whispered.

Tears blurred my vision. "See you next time."
