Mia's POV

Finally, I can leave this place. When I woke up, I saw Meredith coming in, helping me pack. Then Bailey arrived with my discharge papers. Once everything was settled, Meredith and I went home.

When we got there, we headed straight to my room, and Meredith helped me put everything back in its place.

"Are you okay?" Meredith asked, sitting next to me on the bed.

I sighed. "What do you think? My ex-husband nearly killed me for the second time, and Callie had to witness all of it. My whole body still hurts." Tears welled up in my eyes.

"Wait—Callie knew?" Meredith asked, surprised.

"The first few days he was here, Callie and I were talking. He came up to us, demanding I go with him. Then he grabbed my arm really tightly, and I guess Callie caught on," I explained, looking down. "She's been giving me hope. Keeping me...alive."

A knock at the door interrupted us.

"I'll get that," Meredith said, getting up. I nodded and lay down on the bed. A moment later, I felt the bed shift, and when I looked, I saw Callie lying down next to me.

"Addison left for LA," Callie said.

I nodded. "It should be easier now," I said, tears brimming in my eyes.

Callie took my hand. "You're going to get through this. Me, Meredith, and Cristina—we'll help you through it."

"Thank you so much," I whispered. "For being there for me."

"Of course," Callie said softly. "How about we watch a movie?"

I nodded. We put on a movie, but before we knew it, we had both fallen asleep halfway through.

Meredith's POV

I went upstairs to check on Mia and Callie. When I walked into Mia's room, I saw them both asleep—Mia's head resting on Callie's shoulder. A small smile tugged at my lips. I was glad Mia had her person. Her Cristina. She was going to need her in the days to come.

Callie's POV

I woke up to the sound of Mia whimpering in her sleep. "No, no, no, get away from me," she mumbled, tossing and turning.

"Mia, wake up," I said gently, shaking her shoulder. After a moment, she jolted awake, shaking and gasping for breath. I immediately pulled her into my arms. "It's okay. You're safe. I promise."

She was still trembling when I tried to get up. "I'm just going to get you some water," I said softly, but she gripped my hand tightly.

"Please don't leave me. He'll come back," she choked out.

My heart ached. "Mia, I'm right here. I won't let anyone hurt you."

I pulled out my phone and texted Meredith.

Callie: Meredith, are you awake?

Meredith: Yes, I can't sleep. Why?

Callie: Can you bring Mia some water? She had a nightmare, and she won't let me leave her.

Meredith: Okay, I'll be right there.

I glanced down at Mia. She was still shaking, her head resting against my chest. When the knock at the door came, she flinched.

"It's okay," I whispered, tightening my hold on her. "Come in."

Meredith walked in, taking in Mia's tear-streaked face and trembling form. Her expression softened as she handed me the water. I helped Mia sit up so she could take a few sips.

"You're going to be okay, sweetheart," I murmured, smoothing her hair. After a while, Meredith left, and I encouraged Mia to try and sleep again.

"No," she whispered, shaking her head as more tears slipped down her cheeks.

"Okay, shh, it's fine, sweetheart," I reassured her, gently playing with her hair, knowing it helped calm her down.

"I'm scared," she whispered.

"I know, sweetheart," I said softly, holding her close.

The Next Morning

When I woke up, Mia was still curled up in bed. I got up, took a quick shower, and changed into fresh clothes. I sat on the edge of the bed and looked at her.

"You okay to be alone while I get breakfast?" I asked gently. She just nodded, so I went downstairs, where Meredith, Cristina, and Derek were sitting.

"How is she?" Derek asked.

"Not good," I admitted as I started making a sandwich for Mia and one for myself. "I'm going to try to get her to eat."

Meredith nodded. When I brought the sandwich up to Mia, she just stared at it before turning her head away.

"Mia, can you eat this?" I asked softly. No response. "Mia?" Still nothing.

She shook her head, and my heart sank. I took the sandwiches back downstairs, setting them on the counter.

"Nothing?" Meredith asked.

I shook my head. "She hasn't spoken. The last thing she said was that she's scared."

"She'll make it through this. She's a Grey, after all," Derek said.

Meredith sighed, looking troubled. "Mia has been through this before, but she never acted like this. She pretended everything was fine. I have no idea how to help her. I must be such a terrible sister."

"Hey, Meredith, it's going to be okay," Derek assured her, pulling her into a hug.

"I can help you," I said.

Meredith looked at me, hopeful. "You would really do that?"

I nodded. "Of course. Mia is my best friend. Besides, this is kind of my fault—I should have spoken up about him before everything happened."

Later, I went to check on Mia and found her crying on the floor. "Mia," I said softly.

She looked up at me, tears streaming down her face.

"Come here," I said, opening my arms. She collapsed into me, sobbing against my neck. I held her tightly. "You'll get through this, I promise. I'll do whatever I can to help."

I picked her up and gently placed her back on the bed, tucking her in.

Mia's POV (10 Weeks Later)

Today, I'm going back to work. Callie mentioned that there's a new head of Peds—Arizona Robbins. Callie says she's cool, pretty, and that she really likes her.

I took a deep breath and got up, heading for a shower. Being alone with my thoughts in the shower is the worst. Once I was dressed, I went downstairs and drove to the hospital—the first time in ten weeks.

In the pit, I spotted Cristina and approached her. "Cristina, hi."

"What do you need?" she asked.

"Can you update me on what's been happening here?"

"Yesterday, we found out that you and Meredith have a sister."

I blinked. "Wait—she's here?"

"Yeah, right there," Cristina said, pointing to a young woman with dark hair wearing intern scrubs.

"What's her name?"

"Lexie, I think."

I nodded and walked up to her. "Hi, you're Lexie, right?"

She looked at me and nodded. "Yeah. You're Mia. You probably won't like me, which is fine."

"Who said I didn't like you? You're my sister, after all," I said with a smile.

Lexie smiled back, and from that moment, we started hanging out more.
