Mia's POV (TW)
I woke up and took a shower before changing. I had a day off today, so I decided to go out to a party, just to feel better. Drinking. Two girls came up to me. "Hey, you seem bored. Do you want to come with us?" one of the girls said.
"Sure," I said, and we went upstairs. They led me into a room where I saw three more girls and two boys. In the middle of the room, there were some drugs. This might be fun. We all sat down and started using. This is actually really fun. Maybe this will help me feel better. After we were done, one of the girls gave me a pack of oxy. I just put it in my pocket and went back downstairs to party again. Once the party ended, I went home, went up to my room, and went to sleep right away.
Next Morning
I just woke up. I got up and took a shower. I saw the jacket and noticed the handful of oxy in a small plastic bag. I put on the jacket and left for the hospital, starting my shift.
Me and Meredith were eating lunch. "Derek is leaving for D.C. today," Meredith said.
"Oh," I said. "Okay."
A woman came up to us. "Oh, Amelia, this is Mia. She is my sister. Mia, this is Amelia, one of Derek's sisters," Meredith said, and I nodded as we shook hands.
"Hi," I said.
She nodded. "Hello."
"I have to go, but see you later?" I asked, and Meredith nodded. I went into the attendings' lounge and just sat on the couch. This life right now is miserable. I saw Richard coming in.
"Hello, Dr. Grey," he said, and I just nodded.
"You okay?" he asked me.
I shook my head. "I am miserable. I thought that being here and saving people's lives would make me better and feel happy, but it's just making me more miserable."
"Do you need a break?" he asked.
"I-I think so," I whispered, and Richard nodded.
"I give you permission to take a break. As long as you need," he said, and I nodded.
"Thank you," I said.
"Of course," he said, and I left. When I got home, I took out the little bag of oxy and thought about taking it. I locked my door and took some—just a little. It made me feel so much better. Then I heard knocking.
"Mia, you okay? Richard told me you're taking a break?" I heard Meredith say.
"I'm fine," I said.
"I'm gonna be downstairs if you need anything," Meredith said. I just lay on the bed and went to sleep. I woke up in the middle of the night, went out to the hospital, got a little more oxy, and then went back home.
I need to get my own place. I went on my laptop, found a house, and bought it. It looked like this:
This house is a modern, luxurious two-story home with a sleek contemporary design. It features large floor-to-ceiling glass windows, allowing for ample natural light and a seamless connection between the indoor and outdoor spaces. The exterior combines wood, stone, and metal elements, creating a stylish and sophisticated look.
The house is surrounded by a well-manicured lawn and is set against a backdrop of tall trees, enhancing its private and serene atmosphere. The outdoor area includes a spacious patio with seating arrangements, a fire pit, and outdoor lighting that highlights the architectural details of the home.
The upper level features cantilevered sections with large balconies, offering beautiful views of the landscape. The combination of flat and sloped roofs adds to the modern aesthetic, making the house both elegant and functional.
I got an email. I will get the keys tomorrow. I went back to sleep. Once I woke up, I went downstairs, checked the mail, and saw that my keys had arrived. Then I saw Meredith.
"I have my own house. I will be leaving today," I said.
"What?" Meredith asked.
I nodded and rolled my eyes. "It's closer to the hospital," I said, then went upstairs and started packing. Meredith came in.
"Why are you leaving?" she asked.
I just continued packing.
"Mia!" Meredith shouted.
"THIS HOUSE IS TOO MUCH. I HAVE LOST A LOT, AND THIS HOUSE JUST REMINDS ME OF EVERYTHING!" I screamed. "I HATE THIS PLACE. IT REMINDS ME OF MOM, LEXIE, TEDDY—AND IT'S JUST TOO MUCH!"
"Mia—" Meredith started.
"JUST SHUT UP! OKAY?! SHUT UP!" I screamed. I grabbed my things, loaded them into my car, and drove to my new house. It looked even more amazing in real life than in pictures. I opened the front door. It was a big house. I loved it. I put my stuff down, went on my laptop, and started ordering furniture and essentials. Most of it would arrive tomorrow, so it was fine. I just lay on the bed.
1 Month Later
I woke up, went downstairs, and took a shower. I heard knocking and opened the front door. It was Amelia. She had been coming over twice a week since I moved.
"Hi, Mia. Everyone has been asking when you're coming back to the hospital," she asked.
"I don't know," I said, letting her in. We sat in the living room.
"Mia, you okay?" Amelia asked me.
I nodded. "Yeah, why?"
She glanced under the table and saw some drugs I had forgotten to hide.
"Get out," I said.
"Mia—" Amelia started.
"NO, GET OUT!" I screamed. I got up, opened the door, and she left.
I have to hide everything. I don't have a problem. Everyone will think I do, but I just like the feeling of the drugs every day. It helps me.
Meredith came up to me and Amelia. "Addison, what are you doing here?" Meredith asked.
"I am here for Mia," I said.
"Wait, Mia?" I heard Teddy say as she approached us.
"Who are you?" Amelia asked.
"This is Teddy. Mia's ex-girlfriend," Meredith said.
"What's going on with Mia?" Teddy asked.
"Nothing. She's just looking for attention," Meredith said before walking away.
"Addison?" Teddy asked me.
"Mia has hit rock bottom," I said.
"Wait, what do you mean?" Teddy asked.
"Mia has her own house. She hasn't talked to anyone in a month, and she's not doing well," Amelia said.
"What do you mean 'not doing well'?" Teddy asked.
"Come," I said, leading her into a room.
"So?" Teddy asked.
"Mia is an addict," Amelia said.
"Wait, what?! I need to see her right now," Teddy said.
"We already tried going to her three times today. I think you should try tomorrow," Amelia said, and I nodded.
"No, no, no. This can't be happening. I shouldn't have left. I'm so selfish," Teddy said.
"You are not selfish," I said.
"I shouldn't have listened to Owen," Teddy said.
"Teddy, don't blame this on yourself," I said.
