Addison's POV

I was looking around for Mia, worry gnawing at me. I had never even told her how I felt about her. When Derek and Burke came down, I realized I hadn't seen anyone else. Anxiety rising, I stepped into the elevator, heading to the floor where she was supposed to be. When the doors opened, chaos greeted me—papers scattered, some even smoldering. The air was thick with smoke, making it difficult to breathe. Covering my mouth, I scanned the room, my heart stopping when I saw Mia lying on the floor, covered in blood.

"Oh my God, Mia!" I rushed to her, checking for a pulse. It was faint, but it was there. Relief flooded through me, but panic followed just as quickly. "Mia, please wake up," I begged, tears forming in my eyes. I slid a hand under her head, trying to steady her. "Mia!"

Footsteps approached, and I turned to see Meredith.

"Is she—?" Meredith started, her voice shaky.

"She has a pulse. She's just unconscious," I said, struggling to keep my composure. Just then, Mia's eyelids fluttered open.

"Mia?" I whispered, watching as her gaze met mine, hazy and unfocused.

"Come on, let's get you out of here," I said, helping her up. Meredith and I supported her as we guided her to the showers to clean her up. Once there, I looked at Meredith. "Take care of her. I need to go." Meredith nodded, understanding the urgency, and I left.

Mia's POV

Meredith helped me clean up, carefully tending to the cuts on my face. Once we were done, we went home. Meredith headed up to her room, but I lingered in the living room, too restless to sleep. A knock at the door made me jump.

I hesitated before opening it, relief washing over me when I saw Addison standing there. She smiled softly.

"Hey, Mia. Can I talk to you?" she asked, her voice laced with nerves.

I nodded, stepping aside to let her in. We settled in the living room, and she fidgeted slightly.

"Addison?" I prompted gently.

She exhaled. "I just wanted to say that..."

I leaned forward, my heart pounding. "Yeah?"

"Your house is nice," she blurted out instead. I narrowed my eyes, knowing that wasn't what she had meant to say.

"Addison, what do you really want to tell me?" I asked, tilting my head.

She sighed, shifting awkwardly. "I'm just really glad you didn't die today."

I offered a small smile. "Me too."

She hesitated. "I like..." She stopped, her words hanging in the air. My heart skipped a beat.

She shook her head. "Sorry, I'm just wasting your time," she muttered, quickly getting up and leaving before I could say anything.

The Next Morning

I woke up, showered, and got ready for work. As I stepped out of my car, I noticed a new woman standing nearby. She was stunning—tall, confident, absolutely gorgeous. Intrigued, I approached her.

"Hi, I'm Mia Grey. What's your name?" I asked.

She turned to me with a warm smile. "Callie Torres."

I smiled back. "Nice to meet you. What's your specialty?"

"Ortho," she replied.

"That's cool," I said. "I'm in Peds. I love working with kids."

She nodded approvingly. We walked inside together, chatting, but soon I was called to the center of the hospital. When I got there, my heart dropped.

Mike was standing with Dr. Bailey.

"W-What are you doing here?" I stammered.

"I'm working here," he said, his voice casual as if this were normal.

Shivers ran down my spine. I forced a smile. "Great."

"Dr. Grey, show him around," Dr. Bailey instructed. I swallowed the lump in my throat and nodded. "Okay, come on, Mike."

As I led him through the hospital, I spotted Addison and Meredith talking. When Meredith saw me with Mike, her expression darkened. She stormed up to us and, without hesitation, shoved Mike against the wall, gripping his shirt.

"How dare you show up here?!" she seethed.

"Meredith, let go of him," I said, trying to remain calm.

"What is he doing here?" she demanded.

"He's going to be working here," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.

Meredith's glare hardened. "You don't go anywhere near my sister," she spat at him. Then, turning to George, she ordered, "George, show him around." George nodded, and I watched as Mike was led away.

I turned back to Addison, catching the way she looked down, her cheeks flushed. She was blushing. That small moment, despite everything, made my heart skip.

"Mer, it's fine," I tried to reassure her.

"Really? After everything he's done to you?" she challenged.

"Maybe he's changed," I murmured.

"I don't think so," she muttered, crossing her arms. Frustrated, I rolled my eyes and walked away.

Later, as I walked down the hall, I was suddenly dragged into the on-call room.

"Mike, what the hell?!" I hissed, shoving at his arms, but his grip tightened.

He shoved me against the door, trapping me. "How could you do that to me, Mia? I loved you. I know I lied, but I never hurt you."

"Really? Should I refresh your memory?" I shot back, twisting my wrists in his grip.

His expression darkened. "You deserved it, you slut," he snarled, his voice dripping with venom.

Fear clawed at my chest. "Mike, please, let go," I whispered.

A knock on the door startled us both.

"Mia? Are you okay? I saw you come in here," Addison's voice came from outside.

Mike clamped a hand over my mouth and locked the door.

"Did you just lock the door?" Addison's voice was sharper now.

Mike's eyes bore into mine as he started unbuckling his belt. I knew what was coming.

"Yes," I forced out, my voice shaking.

"Mia, are you sure you're okay? You don't sound okay," Addison pressed.

I swallowed my terror. "I'm fine. Can you leave, please?"

Silence, then finally: "Okay... but I'll talk to you later."

I heard her footsteps fade, and then Mike turned back to me, a twisted smirk on his face.

"Good girl," he murmured before forcing himself on me.

I shut my eyes, forcing myself not to scream, knowing it would only make things worse.

Later that night, as I left the hospital, I saw Addison standing outside. I took a deep breath, forcing a fake smile as I approached her.

"Are you okay?" she asked, concern laced in her voice.

"I'm fine. Just relationship problems," I lied.

Addison stepped closer. "If you were mine, I'd never let anyone hurt you."

My breath hitched. She looked into my eyes. "I've been thinking about you, Mia. A lot."

A small, genuine smile tugged at my lips.

"I really like you," she confessed.

"Really?" I asked, my heartbeat accelerating.

She nodded, looking down. "But I'm still married to Derek."

I hesitated before softly admitting, "I like you too."

And then, before I could think twice, she leaned in and kissed me. And for the first time in a long time, I felt safe.
