Mia's POV (50 Days Later)
Today, I'm finally leaving this place. These past 50 days have been exhausting—physically, emotionally, everything in between. Rehab was one of the hardest things I've ever done, but I made it through. Amelia and Addison visited me nearly every day since I was allowed visitors, and that meant the world to me. They mean the world to me.
When I got home, I was met with an unexpected sight. The house looked... different. There were fresh flowers, cards, and even a few wrapped presents. Someone—or maybe more than one person—had been here. As I glanced around, I noticed something else: all my drugs, everything that had been poisoning me, was gone. A wave of relief washed over me.
I set my bag down and started looking through the cards. They were from Arizona, Owen, Jackson, April, Maggie, Richard, Bailey, Addison, Teddy, and, of course, Amelia. I couldn't find one from Meredith. That stung, but I tried to focus on the love surrounding me rather than the absence of it.
After a moment, I grabbed my keys and headed to the hospital. I needed to see them.
The hospital felt familiar yet different as I walked through the doors. Taking a deep breath, I made my way to the chief's office, where I found Richard and Bailey inside.
"Mia, welcome back," Richard said warmly.
"Hi, Dr. Webber, Dr. Bailey," I greeted with a smile.
"How are you feeling?" Bailey asked.
"I'm... good. Really good," I admitted.
Richard nodded. "Glad to hear it. Have you thought about when you'd like to come back?"
I blinked. "You want me to come back? After everything?"
They both nodded without hesitation.
"Yes," Richard said. "You're one of our best surgeons, and we all make mistakes."
I swallowed hard, the weight of his words settling in. "Can I start on Monday?"
"You have three days to get ready," Bailey said with a nod.
"Of course."
Richard stood up and walked over to me, wrapping me in a hug. I returned it, feeling an overwhelming sense of gratitude.
"I'm proud of you," he said softly.
"Thank you," I whispered.
After leaving the office, I wandered into the hospital's central hub. That's when I spotted Amelia and Arizona talking.
"Hi," I said hesitantly.
"Mia!" Arizona gasped before pulling me into a hug. "I missed you."
I smiled, hugging her back. "I missed you too."
When we pulled away, Amelia stepped in, and we hugged as well.
"So, how's it been?" Amelia asked once we sat down.
"Being sober?" I clarified, and she nodded. I took a deep breath. "It's hard, but it's worth it. Actually... it feels kind of amazing."
Amelia smiled. "Glad to hear it."
"Oh, and thank you for everything you did to my house," I said, looking between them.
Arizona grinned. "It was mostly Teddy. Her idea, really."
My heart skipped a beat. "Wait... Teddy works here?"
They both nodded, and suddenly, I felt like my chest was about to explode.
