It all started with a simple switch.

"COME ON GRACELYN YOU ARE GONNA BE LATE!"

"I'M COMING STACY!" I shouted back to my sister. I was only 16 so she was the only one available in the house drive me to my driver's test. I ran down the stairs, two at a time, stuffing my phone in my pocket. I quickly caught my reflection in the hallway mirror, fixing my hair a little bit. I had to make a good impression on the driving instructor. I ran out the door and yanked open the passenger side door of the already running car. "What took so long?" Stacy questioned as she backed out out of the driveway. I buckled my seat belt and looked up at her. "Oh I just wanted to make sure that I looked good."

"For who? The eighty year old driving instructor?" She laughed to herself.

"Ew no." I punched her in the arm, still laughing. "I just want to make sure I make the best impression possible." I replied looking down at the message I just received on my phone.

good luck! we'll b cheering u on from here! XOXO steffi, felic, and liv

I smiled and put my phone in my lap. "So, you remember everything? You sure you don't need to review anything?" Stacy asked, eyes focused on the road. "Yes, Stacy, I'm positive." I rolled my eyes. In a matter of minutes we arrived at the L.A.Driving Academy. My shaking hands nervously fidgeted with each other. I didn't notice that my sister turned off the car.

"Well, are you just gonna sit there or are you going to get out?" I looked over at her. "Um, ya I'm going." I slowly reached for the car handle and opened the door. I placed one hesitant foot on the pavement. Then the other. I was about to shut the door when Stacy called to me.

"Hey," I turned to look at her. "You are gonna do great. Don't stress. I love you." I gave her a weak smile and began my treck to the building.

LATER THAT AFTERNOON:

"AAAHHHH!!!! OH MY GOSH!!" My best friend Olivia screamed. She was more excited than I was. I couldn't stop smiling as I showed them my brand new driver's license at our favorite place to hang in Hollywood: Starbucks.

"Good job, Gracie! I knew you could do it." I smiled at Stephanie. She usually doesn't say things like this so it made me really happy.

"Well now you can drive us anywhere we want and we get to hang out everyday!" I laughed as Felicity knocked over the napkin holder in her attempt to throw her hands in the air as celebration. We sat at the table for another hour just talking as most best friends do. Eventually, Felicity had to leave for volleyball, Stephanie for dance, and Olivia for gymnastics. I waved goodbye as they all walked out the door. I stood up and chucked my empty coffee cup into the trash on my way out the door in the opposite direction. I whipped out my phone and decided to check Instagram. *scroll* *scroll* "Ugh nothing new." I said to myself as i slipped it back into my pocket. I walked down the crowded side walk of Hollywood. I've lived in Beverly Hills ever since I was 14. I knew my way around both Beverly and Hollywood. Things weren't that far apart. All of my essentials (shopping, Starbucks, friend's houses, etc.) were within walking range of my flat on Beverly Blvd. I'm not gonna lie, my family was pretty rich. To have a house in Beverly Hills was pretty good. Most people have apartments and don't live anywhere near to the city. My friends and I had it good. And we made sure not to take it for granted.

I was enjoying the beautiful palm trees protruding from the ground. I don't usually come to Hollywood anymore. We have everything in Beverly. I still knew it really well though. It's nice to take a break with your friends. I loved everything about California. It was just so..........magical. I don't really know how to describe it. I was so caught up in my thoughts I didn't hear my phone ring.

"You don't know you're beautiful oh oh oh that's what makes you beautiful!" My One Direction ringtone belted out. I finally realized it was my phone and I quickly took it out to answer. I checked the caller ID and smiled. I clicked accept on my IPhone and held it a few inches away from my ear.

"DID YOU GET IT!!!" Stacy screamed into the phone. And that's why I held the phone away.

"Geez Stacy, chill. Yes I did. You don't have to scream." I replied, smiling as I pushed my way through the crowd of tourists on the side walks.

"OH MY LORD!!" I rolled my eyes. Sometimes, my sister could be so embarrassing.

"Listen Stacy, I got to go. Too many people here. I'll see you when I get home. Byyyee." I said into the phone.

"Wait, wait!! I want to know all the de-" I quickly hung up before she could keep talking. There were so many people here today. Someone famous must be shopping. Not unusual. It's Hollywood. Of course celebs are gonna be here. I pushed my way through a particularly crowded area. When I first moved here, I would push through every crowded area in the city just to see a celebrity. Now I don't really have an interest for it. I've seen plenty of snobby teenage celebrities and plenty of nice charming ones. I've had my dosage. Still, I get a little adrenaline rush whenever I see a large crowd around one store. Today I ignored the urge to see who everyone was clustered around and continued my walk home. I just wanted to get home, slip on some sweatpants, and watch my favorite cartoon, Adventure Time. I know, I know, it's a little kid show but it always manages to bring a smile to my face. My family teases me about it all the time. But it's kind of my escape into childhood again.

I was imagining myself on the couch, watching my show when I felt a harsh push from behind me. I fell face first onto the concrete. I sat up and turned my body to face the person who was lying on the ground also.

"Hey! Watch where you are walking!" I said angrily to the boy on the ground next to me.

"Oh I'm really sorry I didn't mean to. I was just......on my way home." The boy around my age replied. I studied him closely. He was wearing a black hoodie and black sunglasses, though it was 80 degrees. Figured it was some celebrity trying to get away from the press. I sighed.

"No, it's alright. I overreacted. Here let me help you." I picked up his dropped IPhone and handed it to me. "Thanks." He said, handing me mine. "My name's Gracelyn by the way," I said, sticking my hand out.

"Jeremy," He smiled, shaking my hand. He had a really nice smile. I don't know why, but he looked oddly familiar. I smiled back at him and realized we were still holding hands. I quickly released his hand in case he thought it was weird. "Well, um, I better be going," I replied hastily. He smiled and nodded. "Same goes for me. See ya 'round maybe." He turned and began to walk away. He turned around still walking and waved at me. I smiled and waved back, turning to continue on my route. I slipped my phone out of my pocket to check the time. Except the screensaver wasn't mine.
