JEREMYS POV
I looked over to Gracelyn's sleeping body and sighed. I really messed this up even if it wasn't my fault. I wonder if she will ever forgive Liv. I know it was a drunken mistake but kissing your best friend's boyfriend? That's a bit of a low blow, even for a drunk person. And it's not like she didn't know it was me.
Gracelyn's body shifted slightly and her face twisted in pain. I looked in the rearview mirror and saw what an uncomfortable angle her ankle was at. I immediately felt guilty. Only a few more minutes till we reach the hospital. She can hold on for a few more minutes. I pulled out of the highway when we finally reached the hospital and went around to the back of the car to help Gracelyn out. Should I wake her up or just carry her? Would she be mad if I carried her? She turned again and groaned a bit this time. I bit my lip and decided that she had had enough trouble that night. I slipped my arms under her body and pulled her gently out of the car, careful not to let anything touch her leg. When I had her out of the car, I felt her snuggle a little bit into my shoulder and wrap her tiny hands around my arm and upper torso. I smiled sadly and wondered if we would ever be like this again. I walked up to the front door of the E.R. and when the nurses saw what state her foot was in, they immediately brought over a wheelchair and instructed me to place her on it. I kissed her forehead and l sat her down. All the nurses left with the stretcher except for one, who led me to the front desk to sign her in.
"Will I get to see her?" I asked when I was finished filling out the paperwork.
"Are you family?" The nurse asked, taking the paperwork I had handed her.
"Um, no. I'm her boyfriend, though." I told her hopefully.
"Are any of her family members here?" She asked without looking up from her computer, which she had just started working on.
"Uh, no. I drove her here." I shifted on my feet.
"Are any of them coming?"
"I haven't thought to call them since she was injured."
"Well, then you'll be the first to see her if they don't show up. But you will only be able to see her after the doctor goes through necessary procedures such as diagnosis, perscription, and possibly surgery depending how bad the injury is. And you might want to call her parents." The nurse finally looked up at me.
I nodded and slumped down into one of the plastic chairs set up around the small waiting area. I pulled out my phone and decided that I should call Gracelyn's mom.
She picked up on the third ring. "Jeremy? It's 11o'clock. What do you need?"
"Uh, Gracelyn's in the hospital." I said solemnly.
"What? Is she alright?" I could immediately tell that she was up and moving around the house.
"Yeah, she's fine. She just fell at a party we were at and I think she fractured her ankle." I picked at the rubber of my shoes.
"Oh, so she's not in deathly trouble or anything?" I heard her take a breath of relief.
"No, no. I just thought you should know that I'm here with her. Except I might be the last person she wants to see." I mumbled.
"Why is that?"
I kept quiet.
"Alright, Jeremy. I'll be there in a few minutes. Thank you for bringing her." I heard her car being started in the background.
"Of course." I whispered before she hung up.
I watied a few more minutes for the doctor to come in and when he did, I stood up to shake his hand.
