I explained the whole situation to Felicity and paused to take a deep breath.
She stared at me blankly. "Jesus Christ, Jeremy. When you said someone was gonna get hurt I thought you meant as in like killed. You're so dramatic."
I stared at her like she was an idiot. "Don't you get it? Brady is gonna use her as some toy or whatever and then break her heart."
She laughed, checking her phone. "You're such a twelve-year old boy!"
"You think this is funny?" I screamed.
"Uh, yeah kinda. Your hormones are like on a sugar high or something. Gracie is smarter than you think. She's not gonna let anyone take advantage of her. She'll stand her ground whether Brady likes it or not." She said, still scrolling through what I assumed was Instagram. I sighed. "I guess. But if he even lays a finger on her I swear..." I trailed off, thinking of all the things I could do to him. I heard the click of Felicity's phone locking and looked up at her.
"You really like her don't you." She said softly.
I nodded slowly. I opened my mouth, searching for words to describe it but I closed it, thinking of nothing. I tried again. "I think I love her." I whispered. I gasped at my own comment and quickly covered my mouth with my hand. Felicity raised her eyebrows.
"Wow." she said. "That's....deep."
I was still shocked at what I said, my thoughts tumbling. Do I love her? I must if my brain is already thinking about it subconsciously. Love? LOVE? I've never loved anyone before.
It's like Felicity was reading my mind. "I've never loved anyone." She said in amazement. "What's it like? Do you feel any different than before? Is it better than a like?"
"I don't know." I said honestly, still trying to figure this out.
Felicity squealed and picked up her phone. "OOH! Grace is gonna FREAK when she hears this! You guys would be the perfect couple!" Her words registered in my head just as she clicked Gracelyn's contact. The phone started ringing and I stared in horror. My body was frozen. I couldn't move.
"Hey Gracie! Yeah I'm good! Just hangin with someone." She wiggled her eyebrows at me. I knew I had to do something. Gracelyn CANNOT know. "Yeah I just called to tell you that Jeremy-" I hit the phone out of her hand and lunged for it on the ground. I slowly put it up to my ear and glared at Felicity.
"Hello? Felicity? Jeremy what?" Gracelyn asked confusedly.
"Um, nevermind. I have to leave! Byyyee!" I said in my girliest voice as Felicity started laughing uncontrollably.
"Wait, what?" I hung up before Gracelyn could question more. Felicity was still laughing.
"What the heck?" I asked her, getting up from the floor.
"You are so bad at impersonating people." She said, wiping the tears from her eyes.
I glared at her. "You CANNOT tell her. Please. She can't know yet!" I pleaded with her.
"Why not?" Felicity asked, calming down. "If you don't tell her, she'll never know and then she and Brady might get married and have children in a mansion and you'll be an old hag living on the streets all because you didn't tell a girl you love her." She teased.
"That's not funny." I mumbled.
"Oh c'mon! That was so funny! You're just a grumpy pants." She said, fake-frowning. "But seriously, you have to tell her! She's never gonna find out on her own. Girls are so oblivious to crushes. They have no idea when someone likes them."
