MIA

I turned the card over, I can't believe this! Father has already sent the cards out -wait no, when did he even get the cards made? The engagement was two days after my dinner with Ryan. Great. Now I can worry about seeing him twice.

My dinner with Ryan was tonight, I let out a frustrating groan as I threw the card at my open closet. I still hadn't decided what to wear, I wasn't planning on letting mother have comments on it. I walked into my closet and looked around in frustration.

I stared at my black cloak that I had thrown onto a shelf carelessly, there was a dark blue ruffle, pencil dress next to it, I picked it up to inspect it closely. I didn't remember buying it, but I decided to wear it tonight, I had a cute velvet jacket that would look really good with it. I had every girls dream closet, from the lavish outfits to the shoes and jewellery, my mother made sure I had all of it. I wasn't really complaining, I liked being able to dress well in whatever I wanted to, but sometimes I felt like my mother was trying to make me forget about Liam but distracting me with all of it. I was okay with remembering Liam, I had learned how to live with the pain, even after my marriage to Ryan; I think I'll always remember and love Liam, he was my destined mate after all.

Aunt Madison had texted me earlier today that she would reach our pack territory by tomorrow, she didn't want to miss my engagement party.

"Mia?!" Mason called out, I turned around to walk out of my closet to answer Mason but he peaked in. "Mother told me you want to visit the black crescent pack?"

"Yeah," I swallowed nervously, "I want to meet a friend," I shrugged as I pretended to inspect a dress.

"And would that friend be Dylan?" I cleared my throat at his question, damn it, I don't even know the names of anyone else there.

"Yes!" I huffed.

He looked impressed and looked at the floor in deep thoughts.

"Do you like him?" He asked suddenly.

"As a human, yes. But other than that he's just a friend," I shrugged.

"If you say so," he leaned against the doorframe. "I'm going to take you there after your engagement, although I don't see the point of it, you are going to meet him on your big day," he said with a smug smile. I ignored him but felt myself take a painful deep breath as I thought of my engagement. It's for my pack, I'm being a good daughter; it's what anyone would do. But why did I feel upset about Dylan being there? I shook my head as I looked Mason.

"We can discuss this when the time comes," I sighed, part of me didn't want the time to come. I had joined father in the office after Mason headed out of my room. I had offered to help him with some paperwork, so I sat on chair opposite from him as I stared at the numbers. Mason wanted to expand the business, I was supporting him because I know it will bring a lot more income, it'll even help our pack members.

I drew up a few balance sheets as I went through the file, I'm so glad I'd gone further in my studies, I didn't feel like a complete free loader. I could help father with a few things here and there, it also helped in keeping me busy. My phone beeped, I picked it up from the table to check who had sent the text, it was from Jade.

'You meeting us for hunting tonight?'

I thought for a few seconds before answering.

'I have that dinner with Ryan but how about after I get back?' I replied.

'Alright meet us at 11.' She answered.
