MIA

"Are you okay?" Mason asked as he drove me to the office.

"Yeah, I just didn't want him to have a chance to speak to me again," I lied, my hand was still shaking. How did he know where to find me?

"Did he try to do anything?" Mason questioned.

"No, he just wanted to talk," I replied.

Masons knuckles turned white due to how tightly he clenched the steering wheel.

"Mason, I'm fine. Don't worry," I said, trying my best to reassure him.

"If I see find him anywhere near you now, I'm going to kill him," He growled.

Once we reached the office, Mason insisted on walking me to my office and I rolled my eyes. As much as I loved my brother, his overprotective side was a little annoying at times.

I got to work straight away, I had a meeting in two hours, so I wanted to prepare ahead for it. I read through the files, but I had to read everything twice because my mind kept wandering back to Ryan.

Why is still insisting on meeting me? He knows I'll never get back with him. There's no point in him trying to get me to hear his side.

My phone pinged making me look away from the file. It was a text from Dylan and I smiled. He wanted to meet me for coffee tomorrow as he was coming to our pack territory. Of course I'd meet him, he's been checking up on me constantly.

I dropped my phone back on the table, returning to the task at hand.

Mason dropped all his work to go home with me, I raised my brow at him. I found him leaning against my car in the parking lot.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"Waiting for you to unlock the car for me," he gave me a lopsided grin.

"I'm serious Mason, what are you doing?"

"Oh you mean going home with you?" The end of the sentence was a little higher pitched. "I need a ride home, some jerk slashed my tires," he groaned and I narrowed my eyes at him.

"Would that jerk have been yourself?"

"What? No! Of course not, that's ridiculous," he waved me off. "Open the door, I'm getting cold-"

"You're a wolf-"

"Mia, just open the car and get in," he groaned in annoyance and I rolled my eyes, unlocking the door.

I cussed him under my breath and he shot me a glare.

"I heard that," he said, before turning on the radio.

I backed out of my parking spot as Mason flipped through the radio channels.

I gave Mason a sideway glance but didn't say anything. I'm pretty sure he slashed his own tires to have an excuse to go home with me, to keep an eye out for me. As much as that flattered me, it was annoying because I didn't want him to drop everything to play protector for me. He's just not saying it outright because he doesn't want me to feel bad which I appreciate but I don't want him to worry about me.

"I'm not going to work tomorrow," I said, causing his attention to focus on me.

"Why is that?" He asked.

"Dylan is coming into town and he wants to meet up for coffee. I figured, why not," I shrugged.

"Do you like Dylan?" Mason asked, his gaze trained on me.

"What? No! There's nothing like that between us," I felt my face heat up with embarrassment just at the thought of it. Dylan would never look at me that way and same goes for me.
