MIA

We were sitting in the dining room as we ate the takeout we had ordered for our dinner. Mason was talking to Dylan about business related things and I was listening as I chewed on my food in silence. Dylan was explaining Mason that his pack's members had jobs even in human territories, I mean come on, they were a very large pack, the Alpha can't employ everyone.

"They can work for me," he suggested. That reminded me what I had promised Jade.

"Actually that reminds me," I piqued up. "I actually have someone in mind who you can hire," I said, taking a sip of my juice.

"Who?" He frowned.

"You know my friend Jade?"

"Elliot's mate?" He asked.

"Yeah," I said.

"I don't think so," he shook his head.

"Why not?! She's perfectly qualified," I snapped.

"They're basically rogues," he replied.

"They're not rogues, they're lone wolves, there's a difference," I defended my friends. Dylan cleared his throat causing both of us to face him.

"Give Jade my number, I'm sure Adrian will be glad to hire her at the office," he smiled.

"Really?" I asked with surprise.

"Yeah, or she can get a job at one of the local businesses in our area, I can talk to the owners," he said.

"Why?" I asked.

"Well, our pack is known for its rogue and lone wolf history," he emphasised on lone wolf. I raised my brow but decided against pushing it any further.

Mason cleared his throat and changed the topic, the conversation was light after that but I looked at Dylan quiet a few times as I tried to figure out what was going through his head. Rogues and lone wolves? Was he Rogue too? I know the Alpha of this pack was. It sort of made sense if he was, the Alpha's beta is mostly the closest and most trusted person to them, that being Dylan. He looked at me, I instantly looked at my plate. I hope he didn't realise I'd been staring since the past few minutes.

Once we were done eating, Dylan threw the disposable plates and empty take out boxes into the trashcan in the kitchen.

"I'm going for a run," Mason said as he finished washing hands.

I nodded my head as I headed into the kitchen to ask Dylan if he needed help with anything. He refused but told me that we could finally go on a run, and he'd show me that special place he was talking about.

We walked into the garden side by side.

"So how did you find this place you're talking about?" I asked.

"To be very honest with you, I've never even been there?" He chuckled.

"What do you mean?" I trailed off with confusion.

"Well the Alpha told me about it, but I've been so busy since I got here, I haven't gotten the chance to go and explore," He explained and I raised my brows.

"So for all we know, we might not even find anything?" I gave him a side way glance as we continued walking towards the forest.

"I won't lie to you, it's a possibility," he chuckled as he rubbed his neck.

"We'll just have to see then I guess," I shrugged as we walked into the forest.

"Here," he turned left. I followed him as he walked deeper into the forest. "I think it's that way," he came to sudden causing me to bump into his back, I took a step back and looked at where he was looking. It seemed to be the ruins of an old archway, the bricks that had survived were mostly covered in green moss.
