Normani's point of view

I was at the mall with my friend Victoria. I wanted to get my dad something special for his birthday that was in a few days. I spotted Dr. Hernandez across the way. Ally was engaged to Dinah, the person that I love. Me, Ally, and Dinah all went to the same private school together until Ally left to be some bad ass medical examiner. I think she had a little crush on me back then, but I couldn't say for sure. She was sending mixed signals. If I was being completely honest, I could not date her then especially because I wasn't going to fully commit.

I had always had a crush on Dinah, but I didn't have the balls to ask her out. I never saw them act affectionately toward one another. Neither had Victoria, and she worked with them more often than I did. I didn't know.  Maybe they didn't like public displays of affection or something. I didn't want to be a homewrecker, so I had decided to let Dinah go. Which was easier said than done, considering she was perfect. She had a stable career and was moving up the ranks. She had a great relationship with my dad. With the help of my dad, she could be a great chief one day. They saw each other every Saturday. She was so caring too. Fuck, if only Ally wasn't in the picture.

We walked into a store to avoid Ally, and it just so happened to be a shoe carnival. I browsed the women's section and found nothing that I wanted. I got ready to leave when I saw Ally and Dinah walk in together, holding hands. Oh, I guess they are lovey dovey, but not when they are at work. Ally spotted me and waved. Shit, I just got caught staring. I waved back as they walked towards me and Victoria.

"Hey Normani and Monet, I heard you just won your big case about the serial rapist. Congratulations!" Ally said.

"Yeah the jury had me scared for a little bit but I knew they would pick the right side in the end. Well I hoped they did anyway. You two have your outfits ready for the charity event? " I admitted.

"Nope, that is why we are here. but somebody is being difficult." Ally said, glaring at Dinah

Dinah threw her hand up in mock defense. "What? If I want people to bid on me, I have to look perfect."

"I had to drag your tall ass out the house, just to come. But don't worry, you always look perfect to me. It doesn't matter what you wear because I am going to outbid everyone for you." Ally wiggled her eyebrows causing Dinah to smile.

They were so cute together. I hated it. A wave a Jealousy washed over me. I didn't know who the little miss strawberry shortcake was, thinking she was flirting with my woman right in front of my face. I got her tea. "Well this is awkward because I had someone dropout yesterday and I was going to ask if you could take her place."

"Forreal? I didn't know that." Victoria chimed in.

"I don't tell you everything," I snapped.

"Umm, I don't know." She looked to Dinah to save her.

"I think that is a great idea. You can't say no to charity unless you are an asshole." Dinah smiled.

"Come on, Ally. It would be a good representation. It shows that the higher ups care. I got my dad, my sister, Megan, who is the dean of medicine at FG hospital, and even fire chief Jackson. Please Dr. Hernandez. You are the chief medical examiner.  You have to." I gave her my best puppy dog eyes.

"Fine. I will do it. Since you guys want me to do this so badly. Damn." Ally said not hiding her attitude.

"This is great." I gave her a hug, and she smiled.

Victoria and Dinah laughed which caused them to receive a glare from Ally and I for different reasons.

"Well we just got here. Y'all want to hangout with each other?" Victoria asked.
