Ally's pov

My name was Ally Hernandez. My parents had a business arrangement with the Hansen's. My parents and the Hansen's were the owners of two fortune 500 companies. Soon I would be forced to marry their daughter, Dinah Jane. She was tall, beautiful, funny, and popular. We decided to get married next year, but we had not picked a date yet. We were very cordial with one another, but neither one of us made an effort to get to know each other in a romantic setting. We knew of each other all of our lives. However I was three years older than her, so we ran in different circles.

Our parents told us we could get settled into our careers before the marriage had to happen. I tried to be sly and pick a long career to buy us more time, but my parents saw right through that. I was put into homeschool so that I could graduate earlier and go to college. I went to college all year round. I took no breaks. Once I got my PhD, I started working. Dinah wanted to be a detective and last year she made it. She was one of the youngest people in the department to make detective so fast. Dinah was all the things you wish for in a person, but I was in love with D.A. Normani Hamilton. She was kind, gorgeous, smart, and only had heart eyes for Dinah.

There was a knock on my door and I looked up to see who it was. "Dr. Hernandez. There is a body here for you." My assistant, Bebe, informed me.

"Okay, thanks bebe" I smiled.

I was the chief medical examiner. Not to brag but I was the best in the state. I prepared the tools for my examination. Technically bebe was supposed to be setting everything up for me, but I rather do it myself. It gave me time to clear my head and work with no bias before I touched the body. I looked over my initial notes about her physical appearance to make sure that it was Samara weaving. She was a twenty-nine year old caucasian woman with dyed blonde hair and blue eyes.

At the crime scene, she had on a sleeping beauty pajama set. Her body was laid in a fetal position. She had her thumb in her mouth.

I noticed that she had several cuts and bruises on her body. Some cuts could have happened up to two weeks ago judging on how healed they were. She had no broken bones. She had rope burns on her wrists and she had been raped multiple times. She had a tattoo with a magnolia that couldn't have been more than two days old before she was killed.

Once I was done, I concluded that the woman on my table was murdered. She was shot five times. One in the head, two in the heart and one in each lung. The headshot was what killed her. The rest were postmortem.

What kind of sick piece of shit would do something like this. I sighed. I sent the semen sample to the lab. It took about three weeks to get the report back.

My best friend, Tori Kelly, who was a medical examiner, walked in. "Good morning Ally! You're here early."

"Yeah, a young woman was found in the woods by a group of hunters. Luckily for us, an officer knew who she was." I looked down at the woman on the table.

"How so?" Tori looked at the woman on the table.

"They went to college together. That's all I know." I pulled my gloves off.

"Oh okay. Who are the lead detectives on the case?" She took a sip of her coffee.

"Let me double check. This morning it was Coleman and Monet." I looked at the folder to see who's case this belonged to. Oh great, it was Dinah's. This was going to be so fun. Not really. She was about to annoy the hell out of me with all those questions. I don't know why she found my notes so difficult. I wrote a summary of the report using layman terms so that everyone understood.

"It's Jauregui and Dinah's" I sighed

"Oh today is going to be a fun day for you. She is going to interrogate you." She said, reading through my autopsy report.
