Dinah's pov
Fucked. That was the only word that could describe my life right now. I was fucked. I managed to ruin things with Ally, and I had no idea how to get things back on track. I had sent flowers, messages, and letters, but she still hadn't responded. She talked to everyone besides me. At work, she didn't even acknowledge my presence. We were in this weird stage. We weren't broken up, but we definitely weren't together.
Tonight was the auction, and I had no idea how it was going to go. Our parents and other elites were going to be there, so we had to put on a great show.
The alarm on my phone went off, and I swiped to cut it off. I felt somebody's arm around my body. Is it Ally? I turned around to see fucking Camila. Damn. I knew that I was not supposed to be sleeping around with her, but I couldn't stop. She was the only person other than Lauren who didn't hate me. It was like she had this power over me. I didn't know. Her and Kehlani were on a break too. I moved her arm to get out of bed to shower, and get ready for work.
Once the water was the right temperature, I hopped in and lathered up my loofah. I let my thoughts take me away. I was pretty sure everyone at work knew that our relationship was a scam, but I didn't care because It wouldn't be for long. I already made a guide to woo Ally. I just had to do all of that all over again and be authentic this time. Who was I kidding? That would never work. New list. One, I had to stop having sex up with Camila. Two, I had to get Ally far away from Normani. I was pretty sure that I could find some reason to arrest Normani. However, that might ruin her career, and I didn't want that. I just wanted her to stop being friends with Ally. I could blackmail her or seduce her. She used to love me. I could probably trick her into falling in love with me then crush her heart. Nah. That's too evil. I sighed while scrubbing my armpit. We all knew the person who was the problem here. It was not Normani. It was Allyson Brooke Hernandez! Yeah.
All she had to do was not sneak around with the love of her fucking life. I wouldn't have gotten jealous, and I wouldn't have cheated on her. To be honest, this was all Ally's fault. She was the reason why we were both miserable. By this time, I had cleaned my entire body. I cut off the water of the shower and put on my work clothes. Today I was wearing a pair of blue jeans with a silk, gray blouse. My slip on my black boots. I had socks on too. I didn't even bother doing anything fancy with my hair; since, it was just going into a ponytail. I brushed it out, and tied it up. I told Camila goodbye and to lock up the house for me.
I got into my black, dodge charger which doubles as my police car, and headed to work. On the way there, I got a call from Detective Runway from the drug unit asking for help on one of her cases. There was a double homicide that involved the use of a meth lab. I agreed. Detective Runway and her partner, Detective Pinnock, knew the new chief well. Apparently, the chief was friends with their parents. I didn't want to get on her bad side. She looked mean. Once I got to the station, I texted my confident informant to see if she had any information about this.
An hour later, I was at the office waiting for my confident informant to get back with me. My C.I. finally responded. I was going to meet them in twenty minutes at the cafe down the street. I stepped outside of my office. I could hear Monet and Coleman laughing in their office, but I could also hear Ally and Normani. I stuffed my hands in my pockets and continued walking by their office. I had no reason to care or to be jealous. Ally was just going through a phase. I would win her back soon. She had to marry me anyway. I smiled as I remembered that. Ally you better spend all the time you could with Normani now because once we were married, I was putting an end to whatever you two are.
My C.I. worked at the youth center. She helped teens recover from drugs and get them into rehabs. I met her when I first started visiting, and she promised to listen out for anything that might be helpful. I walked into the Cafe and noticed my C.I. immediately. She sprinted to me and wrapped me in a big hug. "Hey Dinah Jane!" She said, squeezing me tighter almost to the point where I could barely breathe.
