Ally's pov

Today has been a slow day. Which I was grateful for because nobody had died today, but like I was so bored. Everyone at the department was devastated to hear the news. Dinah had been dodging my text and calls. I went to her house this morning, and she completely ignored me. I wanted to be there for her, but it was extremely difficult; since, she didn't want me to. I am going to try again tomorrow morning before the funeral. I pulled out my guitar and started playing If You Had My Love by jlo.

Tori opened the door. "Can I join?" She walked in with her guitar.

I stopped strumming. "You finished planning my wedding?"

"Sure." She sat down and made herself comfy on my couch.

"Yeah, you can help me with this song I wrote. I can't seem to find the perfect melody for it." Tori looked over the lyrics; then, she fiddled with some of the chords. Before I knew it, she had a catchy melody going. We added my lyrics to it. I started off the song.

[Verse 1: Ally]
I tried to call my mother, but
She didn't get where I was going
I called my girlfriend and she said
"Call me back a little later baby"
I hung up the phone, I felt so alone
Started to feel a little pity
That's when I realized that I
Gotta find the joy inside of me

[Chorus]
I'm having a private party
Ain't nobody here but me, my angels, and my guitar singing' baby look how far we've come here
I'm havin' a private party
Learning how to love me
Celebrating the woman I've become, yeah

[Verse 2: Tori]
I'm gonna take off all my clothes
Look at myself in the mirror
We're gonna have a conversation
We're gonna heal the disconnection
I don't remember when it started
But this is where it's gonna end
My body is beautiful and sacred
And I'm gonna celebrate it

That's all I got so far. The sound of hands clapping caused me to nearly drop my guitar. Tori and I were so lost in the moment that we didn't notice that Normani had entered the room.

"What do you think of the song Normani?" Tori beamed, not bothering to jump into the hellos.

She moved from the wall and sat in the chair."It's good but I think you should add a third verse."

"What do you have in mind?" I handed her the notebook so that she could look over the previous lyrics.

Mani reads the lyrics out loud. She writes something down. "Play the chorus for me again." We did as told and she started singing.

[Verse 3: Normani]
Sometimes I'm alone but never lonely
That's what I've come to realize
I've learned to love the quiet moments
The Sunday mornings of life
Where I can reach deep down inside
Or out into the universe
I can laugh until I cry
Or I can cry away the hurt

She stopped singing and looked at us with her eyebrows raised. "Okay, that was perfect and so are you. She's amazing. Can we keep her." Tori said in awe of Mani.

"You're too kind. You got me black girl blushing. You really think so?" Mani unzipped her jacket.

"Abso-motherfucking-lutely" I chime in. She really was an amazing writer and singer.

Tori patted the middle cushion. "Have a seat in the middle. You've just joined the songwriting committee. Now, all we needed was a bridge and an outro." Tori gave her a bright smile that showed off her dimples.
