You and Steve Rogers had been inseparable for eternity - or at least it felt that way. Ever since you met him in 2012 and helped him to get adjusted to the modern world you two had became insanely close. Best friends for life - or that's what you thought.

It was a normal day at work. You were getting some paperwork done for your boss right now. You were a SHIELD Agent, yes, but you mostly sat at your desk and did work on your computer - sorting files, reading testimonies, deciding which of them needed to be checked out. But you weren't complaining. Your coworkers were great, your boss was literally the Nick Fury and your work was fine.

Your shift ended at 4pm as usual and you were about to leave the SHIELD compound as your phone vibrated in your pocket. You grabbed and unlocked it to see it was a text message from Steve. Your lips twitched up into a smile while you read what it said:

I'll pick you up at 6. Be ready - Steve

You explained to him about a thousand times that he didn't need to put his name after each and every message, but he still didn't seem to quite understand that - or he simply didn't care.

You arrived at your apartment a few minutes later and went staright for the shower. You didn't exactly know what you should be getting ready for, but considering that it was Steve we were talking about probably meant that you two would go out to get coffee and take a walk, so you went with a casual but somewhat sexy kind of outfit - per usual.

Time went faster than you realized and before you knew it, it was 6pm and there was a knock on your door. You quickly grabbed your purse and checked to see if you had everything you needed before heading to your front door. You opened it to reveal Steve - but not your normal average-dressed Steve, no. He was wearing a suit. An actual suit.

„I-I didn't know I would need to dress nice." You mumbled turning around to change into something more classy, before Steve grabbed your wrist.

„You look beautiful, Y/N. You don't need to change."

„Oh I sure as hell do. Wait here." You ran into your bedroom and threw on the first somewhat classy dress you saw, which also happened to be your favorite because it made you feel confident. It wasn't too overdressed, very comfortable and it was your favorite color as well.

„Ready," You said, a little out of breath, before stepping into a pair of heels and closing your front door behind you.

„You look absolutely stunning." Steve looked you up and down.

„Why, thank you Mr. Rogers. You don't look half bad yourself." You laughed a little and snaked your arm around his.

„What are we even doing?" You asked as Steve escorted you to the building's elevator.

„Tony is throwing a party and I thought I would take you to it."

„Oh." You said, a little disappointed - not really knowing why you were feeling that way.

„It's going to be fun! And I want you to meet someone." Steve got excited, you could see it in his eyes.

Someone?

„Did you manage to find yourself a girlfriend?" You fake gasped and tried to make the question sound lighthearted.

„You'll see."

You were not going to like were this was going.

Arriving at the Avengers Tower, you and Steve took the elevator up to the floor where the party was held.

To say the room was crowded would be an understatement. Not liking the feeling of being in the middle of so many people, you kept close to Steve. He searched the crowd for that mystery person he wanted you to meet. Seeming like he found them, he made a beeline straight to the bar.

"Hey, lovely." Steve called out to a blonde woman sat by the bar, a glass with a thick liquid inside in her hand.

"Steeeeve," She called, standing up to crash him in a hug. She lifted her head and practically ate his face, making you look away.

So he really did have a girlfriend now? For some reason you always believed that you and him would end up together. Falling for him wasn't hard - hitting the ground the moment you saw them kiss however, broke your heart into a million pieces.
