Loki x Reader: Nightmare

A/N hey yall!! I know I've been mia for a long time, but I guess I'm somewhat back now! Well, I at least got some new ideas, I'm not sure how active I'll upload them tho, I'm sorry but life has been rough

anyways; Loki is an Avenger in this and so are you!!

When you took this job, you expected a lot of things. But this? Your life basically consists of one thing right now:

Paperwork. Lot's and lot's of paperwork.

It's not fair. Being somewhat of a superhero should be fun and exciting- scary and exhausting as hell too, but it shouldn't be this. Files here, reports there and just overall so much writing.. Well let's just say that staying up super late, burying your head in papers and binders and books, is nothing unusual for you anymore. And since your boyfriend is basically an alien god means that you get to do both of your work, fun, right?

But you're not complaining... or well, only a little bit. Loki has other shit to worry about then filling out these papers so you (somewhat) gladly do his work. It still is boring though. But you listened to music while doing it, so overall you guessed it could be worse. A lot worse actually. You should be glad you have this job,

Enough with the drowning in safe pity just because your bored out of your mind.

You look to your right, 01.22am. Rubbing your eyes, you sit up. This file in front of you is the last one before your (hopefully) free weekend finally starts, so you want to get this over with. But you can't help yourself, you take a little break and glance over your shoulder onto your silently sleeping boyfriend. It's still somewhat weird, seeing him sleep like this, considering that he was asgardian and only ever needed to sleep when he was exhausted or drained- but you guessed the last mission must have been exactly that: draining. He was using a lot of his power and basically crashed into bed right after he got home.

Loki stirred.

You frowned.

Loki almost never moved while he slept. Taking your earbuds out, you turn around fully. Only now did you realize how quickly he was breathing - sucking in sharp breaths every once in a while and moaning like he was in pain.

You made your way over to your shared bed and sat next to him. All though the room was only dimly lid by the lamp on your desk, you could see that his eyes were moving rapidly behind his closed lids. You touched his arm, trying to calm him down, but he only stirred more. He must be having a nightmare.

"Lu.." You whispered, still trying to calm your boyfriend. He needs this sleep, he is exhausted and really needs to recharge.

Loki jerked in his sleep, now mumbling something under his breath but you couldn't really make out what it was. You lightly shook his shoulders, "Lu, wake up" - but the nightmare seemed to be getting worse and you were starting to freak out a little. Loki never had a nightmare before. The few times you saw him sleep, he always slept peacefully, so you had no idea what to do besides trying to wake him up.

"Loki, wake up," You said a little louder and shook his body once more. The movement seemed to have worked though, because Loki's eyes flew open, his body tensing all over while he sat up. He looked around, trying to make sense of his surroundings.

"Hey, it's me,

Lu,

you are sleeping,

hey, look at me" You tried to reassure him but he seemed to not be hearing you. His body is twitching and he is breathing heavily so you grabbed his face gently and made him look at you.

"You're okay, love.. Look at me"

Once his eyes locked with yours you said "That's it, now breathe, in .. and out.. breath with me"

It took only a few more seconds before Loki finally somewhat calmed down, but for you it felt like a lifetime. You had never seen him like this before, never so caught of guard, never so vulnarable.

Once Lokis breathing steadied, you wrapped your arms around him, whispering reassuring words into his hair.
