"Valerie I think you and I both know I want to be more than friends,"
"What?" Valeries eyed widened, when the words finally clicked in her head. She thought about it for a moment. This moment was all she could think about for the past week, and when it finally happens her mind blanked.
"You heard me," he smirked. He realized he had flustered her, and he liked watching.
"I don't even know what to say," Valerie knew she had bad experiences in the past. She was used, and she was terrified of it happening again, "I feel the same way but, I'm terrified."
"Why is that darling," He asked, not breaking eye contact for even a second.
"Well," and so she began to tell him all the things that happened to her throughout her high school years. She told him about the party, how she passed out in the front lawn. She told him how her most recent ex boyfriend was abusive; physically and mentally. All the while, he watched as her posture differed, her tone of voice cracked, her facial expression completely change. He knew she was hurt, she had trauma and rightfully so.
She finished about 5 minutes later, not wanting to bore the man with her problems.
"Do you still want me now?" She asked, assuming, like every other time she opened up, that his mindset would change. She did it as a defense mechanism, to try and not to get hurt again.
"More than ever," he replied, holding her in his arms. At that very moment, Valerie was overwhelmed with emotions. She had never felt such a strong connection with anyone before. The two both felt like it could be something good for them. Valerie nuzzled her head into Corpse's neck, comfortably listening to the rhythm of his heartbeat.
"What do you wanna do?" She asked, looking up at him.
"Wanna watch a movie?" And with four words her eyes lit up.
"Can we watch The Princess and the Frog!" She asked quickly. Corpse chuckled and shook his head.
"Yes princess,"

About an hour into the movie, Valerie had fallen asleep, which left Corpse to his own thoughts. He thought about his chronic illness. Would he even be able to make her happy with it? He knew he hadn't had an episode in a while, but at any point it could flare up and she could be traumatized. He didn't want her to have to deal with his problems.
Meanwhile, Valerie laid on Corpse's chest, awake, listening to his soft sobs. She wasn't sure why he was crying, but she knew she wanted to find out.
"What's wrong?" She asked, looking up at the man. He softly sighed.
"It's nothing," he answered, not wanting to stress her, but also avoiding the feeling that if he tells her, she'll leave.
"I didn't wake up for nothing, tell me," she gently demanded. Corpse knew there was no way he was getting out of it. If he did want to be with her, she would have to know. He sat up, taking a deep breathe. This moment was something he had anxiously thought about for a while.
"I have some sort of chronic illness," he began, "the doctors aren't sure what it is, I'm pretty sure its fibromyalgia. My entire body hurts all the time. Sometimes I can barely move my arm to lift a spoonful of cereal to my mouth. It affects my arms the most. The worst its ever gotten was when I had to crawl to my front door to put groceries away. I don't know if I'll ever get better."
Valerie stared at Corpse for a minute, in utter shock. Corpse seemed just fine when he was with you, like he had no care in the world about anything else. Had he been hiding this from you to not worry you?
"Corpse I'm going to be here for you no matter what," Valerie answered, staring into Corpse's eyes, which was something she didn't do often. Direct eye contact made both of their anxiety spike, but looking at each other, they couldn't look away.
