It was when the realisation she couldnt be challenged set in, she smirked to herself in triumph at her ways. Her eyes fluttered shut as she dreamt wistfully about the way she was hitting all margins, hitting all targets and the stench of ambition was circulating. It was when she was sat in her office with that smirk plastered on her face at how she was perfect at her job and suddenly the urge of celebrating overcame her. Collecting her belongings she smirked once more and signed out of her computer before heading downstairs and then making her way to Albies. Maybe just once in her life, she could let loose and her decision to hire none other than Kian Madani, she knew she could easily outmatch him, she was sure of it. It was when she raised her eyebrows at Essie who was sat at a table with a bottle of wine all to herself but she still propped herself up at the bar and ordered a margarita to start with taking the edge off before propping herself up in the corner of the bar so she could snoop on all the goings-on that were to occur that evening. It was when Essie caught her eye in the corner of the bar, Jac huffed and raised her eyebrows at her sitting down opposite her.
"Did I say you could sit there?" Jac questions blankly, Essie just makes herself comfortable anyway and Jac raises her eyebrows once more
"I'll give you some of my wine" Essie compromises and Jac takes the bottle and twists it around to admire the label, she nods looking at how expensive the stuff was deciding that she could put up with Essie's company for one evening
"Go on then, don't tell anyone about this-"
"Yeah I wouldnt dream of it" Essie mutters and approaches the bar, she brings back another glass and places it on the table and fills up Jac's glass "Unlike you to be here"
"I can have fun you know"
"Right" Essie nods not entirely convinced and Jac glares at her "Of course, yes"
"Ha," Jac smiles sarcastically before polishing off her cocktail "I'm mainly just here to be nosey-"
"Unlike you"
"Don't you go telling anyone-"
"I'm not stupid" Essie implores and Jac narrows her eyes before Essie picks up her glass, her eyes turn to the door and she raises her eyebrows "Now that is a man if ever there was one-"
"Yep, definitely a man" Jac confirms watching the barman serve "One you do not want to be getting into bed with"
"Oh you know hi-"
"Ladies" the thick Canadian accent wafts around the room in the form of Kian Madani so much so Essie was practically drooling, Jac tilts her head and raises her eyebrows knowing it was going to be a long night "May I buy you a drink-"
"Sure" Essie looks at Jac and she rolls her eyes before shaking her head "Come on you can't refuse-"
"I get paid over a hundred grand a year, I can buy my own drink" Jac mutters and narrows her eyes, Essie bites her lip and heads up to the bar
"Sorry about that she can be a bit frosty," Essie says peering back at Jac who was tracing the rim of her finger around her wine glass
"Oh please, I can defrost any woman"
"The arrogance of it" Essie smirks and Kian passes her a drink "What's your name by the way?"
"Kian" he confirms and Essie nods "Yours?"
"Essie" she smiles and Kian nods and Jac joins them at the bar and tuts "Her name's Jac"
"Oh is it now?" Kian questions sarcastically and Jac shakes her head discreetly at him, Essie's phone goes off and she sighs in annoyance "Everything ok?"
