Derek's POV
Saturday,
I wake up on the couch the stereo on full blast.
Great. Fiona's up...
" FIONA TURN DOWN THE STUPID STEREO" I yell
I don't hear a response over the music but it soon turns off... that or I'm now deaf.
" Derek Wheres dad!?!" I hear Fiona yells, I can hear she's been crying
Ok I'm not deaf, but My dad is missing... WAIT MY DAD IS MISSING?! NO THIS CAN NOT BE HAPPENING AGAIN!
I jump of the couch and run up to my dads room. I see fiona then and there crying on the edge of the bed where dad sleeps.
this is what happened when mum disappeared....
*flashback*
I was 7 and Fiona was only 5, we did what we would usually do on a Sunday and jump on mum and dad... Only this time It was just dad.
" daddy where's mummy?" Fiona asks poking at dads chest
Dad sits up and looks over to the empty space where his wife isn't.
Something's not right... Why is dad looking at the bed like a ghost is there?
" what the? Where did she go?!" Dad yells
He runs Down the stairs and all around the house to check where mum is.
" sh-she must be out for a walk" he stutters
He starts to cry slightly, but hides it from us.
He knows mums not out for a walk, he just wants to keep his hopes up.
We wait all day for mum to come back before we call the police.
Fiona keeps asking me and dad where mum is, dad always looks at her and starts to sob, I on the other hand always answer with:
" I don't know Fiona we just have to wait"
When Monday came I had to go to school and dad had to go to work, Fiona was taken to jades house to be taken care of like always. but this time mum wasn't with her...
" where's your mum Derek? Why is Fiona alone?" Jade asks as we walk to school.
I tell her everything. how my dad was crying. how we had to call the police. how we waited all day... She was gone.
jade understood all of it and she wasn't As rough as everyone else was about it. everyone else didn't understand, some even said she left because of me and Fiona...I didn't believe them of course. jade however, she supported me unlike all of them. she said my mum would come back. she was nice...
When school ended I ran back home with Fiona hoping to see mum there... But she wasn't.
Two weeks later...
One day when Dad came home from work, his face was tear stained, his suit dishevelled, his hair everywhere....
He had been fired from his job.
He told me and Fiona to sit on the couch so we could talk and that's when he cried again, but this time he didn't hide it.
" your mother, she... She's... Not coming back" he cried out
I felt like my heart had been split in two. my mum was one of my favourite people on earth... Yeah I know it sounds stupid now BUT I WAS 7! Of course I would react like that!
Fiona burst out crying and I was on the edge of crying. we gave dad a hug and when I let go, Fiona didn't she held onto him for about an hour. me and dad were her only family left.. And she was scared.
* end of ze flashback*
I go up to Fiona and hug her.
" you don't know he's gone, he could be..."
" out for a walk? I don't think so Derek! That's the Excuse he used when mum went missing,I've checked every where! He's not here that's why I had the stereo up so loud, I knew dad would come and yell at me if it was up too loud" she sobs
