Birthdays why?

Jades POV
I wake up and as I expected Derek is no where to be seen, he's almost never hanging out with me... Or London or James!! He's always hanging out with... Matt, he says its for the project but I dis agree, he's kinda changed a bit, he's kinda turning into matt... At least there's some part of him left the part I love
I look over to ragsy ( my rag doll bunny! I called him that as a kid!)and remember two weeks ago, I wish it were like that...
I roll out of bed making a loud thud, then get up and go down stairs to see
Derek, London, James, mum, Fiona, Alisha and Michael in the lounge
" what the? Why is everyone out... Oh dear god no..." I say
Nooooo it's the day I dread , most of all days .... My birthday
Ok I know what your thinking, it's a birthday it celebrates the day you were born why do you hate it? Well you obviously don't know my family... They make a huge deal out of it! And I just hate it! I'll celebrate others birthdays but not my own,
I try to run back to my room, but mum grabs my arm
" NUH uh! Not so fast!" She laughs
" I'm so glad this is funny to you mum because it really isn't for me" I speak being extremely annoyed
" I know you don't like celebrating your birthday but me and your sister and your brother have got a surprise for you so follow me"
She drags me to the couch and hands me my laptop
" open the laptop" she says
I do as she says and open it and a familiar face pops up on screen
" oh my god DAD!" I shriek
" hi jadey" he replies
I look to the rest of my family and smile
" you set this up?" I ask
" Michael had the idea" Alisha says
" happy birthday" dad says
" thanks dad, I miss you so much"
" and me you"
My dads kinda a poetic man, he likes to quote Edgar Allen Poe, and such and such, he's kinda old fashioned in that way and that's why he is my favourite person in the world, apart from mum of course
" listen sweet heart, I'm sorry this has been really short but they will only allow me a couple minutes a month and I Had to talk to your mother to arrange this earlier so I'm sorry but I'm going to be home soon and I love you evermore" he says
" evermore" I repeat
He signs off and hug my mum tightly
" best surprise ever!" I squeal
Alisha and Michael join in on the hug since it was them who set it up too and aww's come from the other people in the room ,I laugh then release my family
" jade we have things for you too" London says
" I don't" Fiona says
" thank you!" I say
That comment makes everyone laugh, not me I'm dead serious I don't want anyone getting me anything
" ok we get it you don't like birthdays! Just... HeRe" London says shoving a gift towards me
I sigh and take it out of her hands
" wait before you open it me and Fiona are leaving" Alisha asks
" why?" Derek asks her
" because we're bored problem?" Fiona replies
" same" Michael says
I laugh, they hate my birthday as much as I do... BEST PRESENT EVER!
My mum sighs and walks out of the lounge
" I'll be in the kitchen" she yells
" yay no more family" I laugh
London and James laugh at my joke but Derek doesn't, what's gotten into him he'd usually laugh at that,
" anyways this thing" I say examining the box
I open the pastel coloured box to see a satchel with the British flag and flowers on the top and the rest is blue with White polkadots , a bag that I was looking at the other day and said I really wanted ( a/n - all gifts in the photo<----)
" London, this is the bag I was staring at the other day, you bought it why?" I say
London continues to laugh at me, probably my reaction , James does too, Derek smiles but doesn't laugh... Strange
" I knew you'd love the gift" she smiles
" now my turn" James says
He throws something at my face and I pull it off my crazy haired head, and look at it, it was a white jumper with the words 'teenage dirtbag' on it, I happen to just love the song... So great gift
" woah, where did you find this?" I laugh
" I know people" he simply says
" by that he means he knows me" London says
I laugh harder and put the jumper on, it fits perfect!
James and London look over to Derek and then stand up
" we need to go" they say in unison
" why?"
" we just do" London says
She grabs James' arm and drags him out of the house leaving me and Derek in the lounge
" soooo I assume you don't have a gift for me like I always ask you" I say hopefully
He smirks and pulls a small black box out of his pocket
" I'll take that as a definite no" I laugh
He hands me the box and I open it to see a amazingly gorgeous bronze heart shaped locket with a butterfly on the front and a blue gemstone in the middle of that, I open the locket and see two photos of me and Derek, one from when we were kids and a more recent one, the slime selfie
" you seriously got one of the photos of my Instagram?" I laugh
He laughs back and looks to the floor
" how much did this cost you?" I ask
" not much, seeing as it was for you" he says
I look at him and blush slightly
" umm Derek could you..."
" look at the back" he cuts me off
I do as he says and look on the back of the locket where an engraving is put
' Always by your side'
" always by your side? Is that a promise?" I smile
" yes, I Derek McNally promise to be there for you when you need me most"
He says
A goofy grin plasters his face and a blush rises to his cheeks, that's the Derek I know...
