Mum?!?

One year later...

Derek's POV
" ok I still can't believe you got tickets for us to go to Japan after we graduate" jade says
" yep I know I'm the best boyfriend ever" I laugh
We're walking to the lake, it's been quite a while since we were last there, it's been maybe a year maybe more a lot has defiantly gone on for the past year...
Dads kept less secrets from me and Fiona
Jades dad has kept threatening to hurt me if i break her heart
Me and jade turned 18
And I bought tickets for me and jade to go to Japan
Jade laughs as we walk into the forest, but were stopped at the edge of the clearing to see a woman,
Dark brown hair, no lighter than mine, a few greys in there but not much
Fairly tall, not tall as me but not shorter than jade
Wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans, and who has her head down looking towards The water
Jade holds on to my arm as we get closer
" who are you and how did you find this place" I ask
I'm the only one who knows of this clearing except for dad and jade... So how does she know?
The woman turns around keeping her head looking down
" you first" she says
That voice is so familiar... Where have I heard it before?
" my name is Derek, derek McNally and I know of this place because my mum found it, she brought me here when I was younger" I say
" and her " she asks
Why is that voice so damn familiar!
Jade steps forwards letting go of me
" my names jade kattina, Derek brought me here. Now who are you?" She says
She walks up to the woman and lifts up her head,
jade then stumbles back searching her pockets for her inhaler then falls, her inhaler falling out of her pocket as she does,
I quickly grab It and hand it to her, she soon breathes normally and I look up to the woman
" who are you?" I ask
" Derek... My sweet little Derek" the woman says sweetly
I look at her confused then she sighs
" I found this place when I finished high school,
I was about your age, my boyfriend proposed to me here...
I even brought my son and daughter here, my son when he was 4 and daughter when she was two..
My name is Cynthia, Cynthia McNally" she says
I look at the still hooded figure in disbelief, a complete stranger wouldn't know my mums name... So that's... But she.... What?
I stand up and lift the woman's head up and pull off her hood
" mum" I whisper
" Derek" she smiles
I hug her tightly and don't want to let her go,
" sweetheart... Can't.. Breathe" she pants out
I let go of her and she starts to pant a bit
" sorry it's just... 11 years, I haven't seen you in 11 years, what happened to you? We thought you were dead" I say
" Derek help" jade says from behind me
I turn around to see here holding her ankle
" it happened again?" I ask
" I don't know how but when ever I trip and twist my ankle it's always before something big! First the earthquake, then Paris for camp now this!" Jade complains
I laugh and help her up, then turn back to mum
" umm so what happened?" I ask again
Mum sighs before she starts to speak again
" I was going to pick up something special for you, jade, Fiona, Alisha and Michael,
me and jades mum had it all planned, but when I was at the post office to get the package there was a robbery....
the people who were doing the robbery took me and dragged me to their truck, they drove out of town and took me with them, they drove to Scotland
then I was stuck there for 6 years and the past five, I was broke...I had no money so I had to get a job to get enough money to come back home, and that took me the past 5 years to build up,
I would of come back sooner if i could but I couldn't...
The only thing reminding me of home was this.." She pulls out a small package out of her pocket and opens it to reveal...
5 small charms
A video game controller, I assume that would be Michael
A high heel, probably fiona
A chocolate block, Alisha
A love heart, jade
A teddy bear, me
" these were one of 5 packages that I had gotten, the other 4 i gave to jades mum to look after" she says
I hug my mum, making sure I don't crush her and she hugs back
" awww" jade says
I laugh and let go of mum and look to jade
" I knew you would choose her, I knew it" mum says
I smile and look to the floor
" oh how much you've grown, your not 7 anymore so it's a little strange to me" mum laughs and I laugh too
Jade jumps on my back making me stumble a bit but then I laugh
" I thought you sprained your ankle, liar" I laugh
" told you I was the best liar" she laughs back
Mum laughs then looks to the floor
" how's your father?" She asks.
" Why don't you go ask him yourself... Come on let's go" I grab mums hand and push jade off my back
" hey! Wait for me!" She laughs running up to me
" maybe. You haven't changed" mum says
We continue to laugh as we walk back home and as soon as we get home... Mum starts to cry
" it hasn't changed" She says
" nope, dad wasn't big on changing the place and me and Fiona didn't argue"
" Fiona! mr McNally! Derek has someone for you to..... Be reacquainted with!" Jade shouts
Fiona and dad yell that they are in the lounge and me and Jade walk in while we Tell mum to stay in the hall
" so who's this mystery guest" Fiona says not taking her eyes off of her laptop
" you can come out now" jade sings
Mum walks out from behind the wall and dad looks up from the TV and looks in shock
" Cynthia?" He asks
Mum nods her head smiling widely with tears escaping her eyes, dad runs up to her and hugs her, spinning her around the room, me and jade start to laugh but dad soon puts mum down and kisses her
Once the kiss is done fiona pushes dad away and squeezes mum tightly
" I've missed you so much, I don't think I could of handled anymore time living with just boys" she squeaks
Mum laughs and so does dad, jades phone starts to ring and she walks out of the room to take it
My mums not dead... I can't believe it,
I walk up to mum and hug her again, slightly squishing fiona in the process
" you have to come now... Ok... Love you byyyyyye" jade says into her phone while walking in
She stops and looks at us before turning slightly pink, We all laugh at her awkwardness then I let go of mum and Fiona doesn't... Every time fiona every time
I walk over to jade and laugh
" you ok pink cheeks" I laugh.
" fine... But your mum might be in for a bit of a surprise" she laughs
I look at her confused and she just rolls her eyes and kisses me on the cheek
" you'll find out in about 5 minutes" she giggles
Mum coughs and we look in her direction
" I might be missing 11 years of details... So what's happened?" She laughs
" well most recently, me and jade started dating but that was a year ago, dad went off to war for a couple of months and Fiona got a boyfriend" I laugh
Fiona glares at me and mum laughs
" first of all, I knew it would happen, call it mothers instinct, second of all Fiona... Who is he? How old is he? And is he real? And is your brother lying?" She asks
I laugh and so does jade
" I was lying mum" I laugh
Someone knocks on the door and everyone goes silent
" I'll get it" mum says
We stay in the lounge silent while mum walks to the door then we hear screams
" CYNTHIA!"
" JENNIFER!"
I look at jade then she smirks
" you arranged this didn't you" I ask
She just nods her head then walks by me into the front hall
" this is why I love you"
