Arlo's pov
Being around Hope and Luna opened my eyes to so much more magic. More magic than my mum even knew. How could playing the organ, in a ring of salt block out outsiders magic from affecting those who stood in the circle? I sure as hell didn't know that but it does.
Luna figured that Mikael and Esther don't know where we are, they're targetting our minds not the compound, playing tricks on them. The spell I did was too strong to be broken, not without our knowledge anyway, they'd had to under the linking spell, and we'd visually see the knot be undone. Yet it lays in the study completely tied up. So she had to be right.
It was good for her to think fast to protect us all from any more horror. We couldn't be weak in any sense of the word when it came to the war we were about to face. We had to be at our best. Mikael and Esther see us as those kids who were scared and in shock but we're so much more than that. I am so much more than that. I have grown up, I have more control over my magic and my emotions. I know my strengths and I know my weaknesses. I know how to cover them both to be covert in an attack situation so I am not overthrown.
My sister has grown so much since their first attempt at taking us all down. She was 13, a child, we all were children. We're stronger now, smarter, quicker, we had the power before but now we have control making us more powerful than they would ever imagine. Besides they haven't seen us all working together, we're pretty synced these days. Spending two months training and stuck inside this compound does that.
Aidan despite being a jock at school was really cool and we got on well. We hung out all the time missing training but we weren't slacking, he was teaching me things. It was no secret that physically I was the weak link. I slow everyone down, I will be the fall if it was to happen, it'll be on me. I had spaghetti thin arms and I was timid I knew that. I hid behind books and my mum my entire life. My sister could beat me up from when she was 9. Aidan assured me I'd be able to match them all.
So we sneak away into the basement and he helps me trains me in his own way, he's a coach after all. He's pretty harsh too, no slacking at all. And when I go to training I'm able to match the others, maybe not Nik and Aidan who physically we're stronger and bigger than me. But Penelope and Edward, Cami too. Andi was amazing, she can get from one side of the room to there other without touching the ground, I guess Malivore fighting had taught her a few things. I always told Cami she couldn't do that. But now I wish she had, maybe she'd have more of a fighting spirit.
I always told her no she couldn't because if she was to get hurt, no if she was to die, she'd lose her magic but she is so gifted and Dad was miserable without his magic, he wouldn't admit, he'd play it down like being a Vamp was cooler. But his eyes lit up whenever he spoke about magic, and taught Cami about all the dark objects he had collected over the years.
Currently, we were all lazing around the library reading, a daily activity. There wasn't much else to do here. I called my friends back home, which was only Carson who's in my coven history class but he's got a life too so can't fill my day too much.
Hope is practically on the phone to Josie all hours of the day. Damon and Stefan text each other a lot. Luna talks with Lizzie using this clear crystal that glows purple when they're talking it's an extension of astral projection... witch facetime basically.
It's safe to say we're all running out of things to keep us occupied. We turned the ground floor of the compound into a basketball court after training last week. We had a game... we're a very competitive family. The game got taken very seriously. Aidan did me a solid and chose me first for his team. Nik chose Andi... She's good at moving around other players quickly... It's like her brain came preprogrammed for escape routes.
Aidan's team consisted of Me, Hope, Edward, Damon
Nik's team was Andi, Luna, Penelope, Cami.
It was sibling versus sibling basically it got really intense but it made the day pass by a lot quicker. So do the arguments, it's funny to sit back and watch. Luna and hope bicker but that's not as entertaining as Penelope and Hope. Luna's given up trying to stop them. She and Andi leave the room. I don't know where they go or what they do. They seem pretty close.
Hope and P are screaming at each other over stupid things, like moving a hair tool or losing someone's place in a book but the blow-up is massive... they haven't got the best relationship in the house but they weren't going to they were rivals at the school. Between P, Lizzie, Hope and Luna the school entertainment apparently was top tier gold! We boys normally make it worse by encouraging them and then you have my darling sister who tries to defuse the situation. She has the purest heart. She always defuses the conflict in the house.
But we're all bored. "I've read this book three times already," Penelope complains closing the book shut with a loud snapping sound that made everyone look at her annoyed. 'Anyone wants to play dress up in aunty Bex clothes?" She asked. "No, and stay out of my room," Andi told her sternly. "Fine... What about a master chef?" "Food's not been delivered. "Painting?" "Don't touch my stuff," Hope said not even looking at her, her eyes scanned the book as she took in every word. "You guys are boring!" She exclaimed leaving the room.
"Well, she ruined my flow... I'm going to call Kaleb." Andi announced and left for her bedroom. "Leave the door open," Aidan called up. "Oh Bite me," Andi shouted back causing a few of us to chuckle. "Yeah me too," Luna said giving Damon a suggestive look. Well, they're totally going to screw.
Hope's phone rang and she disappeared, it would be Josie. "Octavia and the girls are going to set up a movie night, so," Cami said disappearing too.
Nik, Aidan and I looked at each other. Edward was still reading his book. "Boys night?" Nik suggested. "What do you suggest we do on this boys night?" Edward asked still reading. "Um." Nik thought. "We could play video games?" He suggested. "You broke the console last week." "Yeah dude you got to stop doing that, it's like wreck it Ralph up in her," Aidan said I held back my laughter.
"What about a VR." "How do you expect us to do that?" "Well me and a few of the pack used to use my magic to do it. And it's like an escape room thing." "You actually know how to use your magic?" I§ asked with a cocked brow. "I know how to do fun things, not dweeby things you're into." "If you can do one thing, you can do it all." "Not true... It requires focus, which I lack." "Not true, you focus when you do the VR spell when you train with the pack," I say back. "Yeah but that's fun stuff." "Magic is fun." "You think reading is fun," Aidan said to me. "I just don't think he should be wasting his powers like that." "Maybe it's not his calling." Edward defended him. "Magic is in him, it's innate." They all looked at me. "His mother is Freya Mikaelson. A 1000 year old witch... How are you not more invested in that?" "Because she left!" "They didn't leave!" Luna's voice carried through the whole compound.
"Stop upsetting my wife Nik! I'm trying to-" "Shut up." Luna said cutting him off. We all laughed at the couple. It still amazes me that they can hear us from all the way up there.
"So we doing this?" Nik asked. "Sure."
We all agreed and he did the spell to do the VR escape room game. And that's how we spent our evening.
