HOPE'S POV

Josie and I carried boxes from room to room. "You lived here?" She asked unimpressed and we went down the iron staircase to the open ground floor of the compound. Let's just say the compound has gotten some added character over the years... and a lot more vegetation inside too. The plants had overgrown and began wrapping around old furniture are the balconies of each floor, it looked almost like a greenhouse. "It was less... outdoors like when we lived here," I say placing two boxes on the floor.

I took the box from Josie with ease and set it down by the others. After five years of my parents being gone, I decided to come back here. I missed it. And Josie and I were looking for a new place to call home and what better place than the party town of New Orleans! I loved it here, the city was so bright and fun and there was always something to do, someone to talk to and the magic of this place was radiant.

This place had been used as a dumping ground for many years, all my aunts and uncles things were boxed up and sent here to stay. I guess none of my cousins had the heart to go through their parent's things so it all got sent here but now it needed sorting through. Luna was travelling down to visit and Nik was going to come too. Damon was staying home which wasn't normal for the couple they went everywhere together. Especially since getting married, they became more joint at the hip than ever before. She was happy that's all I care about but sometimes I just wanted sister time with her. I know it's partly my fault I moved out of town, I won't go back and I know Luna worries about Esther and Mikael coming back to town... And in her head, if she's with Damon he's safe because Mikael would kill Damon pretty much instantly... Luna stood some sort of chance to defend them against his evil ways.

"Hope?" I hear my sisters voice echo around the concrete walls. Josie went out from the corridor of boxes to find Luna. "Hey." She had a bright smile spread across her face as she hugged me. "This place has really been let go huh." She said looking around. "Yeah," I say looking up following the veins of a plant that was growing around a column. "It'll be perfect by the end of the week." She assured me easing my nerves. "You're here for the whole week?" Josie asked shocked. "Yeah, Damon and Stefan have gone on a brothers bonding weekend." "Mum said they're being bitchy." "They're both being pathetic, they need to grow up." She says in response. Josie smiled amused. "What are they arguing about?" I asked not hearing of this conflict until now. "Damon wants to open this chamber of secretes and Stefan said no because he's a bore," Luna said and I giggled at her facial expression. "He's trying to protect the town," Josie said. "All's that's going to be in there are a few dark objects, this place is full of them." She said reaching into a box and pulling out an old-looking sea coin. "Dark object." She put it back picking up something else. It was like a mini fishing rod. "Torture device." She put it back. She pulled out a ninja star. "Dark object." She put it back getting something else. "Okay, I get it," Josie said. She had a past with dark magic and it still made her uneasy.

"Just saying. It's harmless." "If it's so harmless why does Damon want to go in there so bad?" I asked. "Something to do?" She shrugged walking away she was halfway up the stairs in a second. She was hiding something. "How's my room looking?" She asked still walking up the stairs. "A greenhouse," I called to her. She goes up the next lot of stairs and into the room. "Ew." I hear her say and I laughed at her response. Our rooms were less than well kept. Our old things from the school were boxed up here, some of the walls had water damage and the floorboards were missing in odd places.

"What's in there?" Josie asked me like I could read my sister's mind. "Beats me... But she can't keep secrets from me." I say going upstairs to get it out of her. "So what's really in this magical important chamber the boys are fighting over?" I asked sitting on her dusty bed. "I told you already." She says disappearing and coming back with an empty box, she stands at the bookcase placing her books in there one by one. "Oh come on, since when do we lie to each other." "I'm not lying Hope." She tells me looking at me briefly. I observed her with narrowed eyes she looked at me once more. "What are you doing? Trying to melt my mind or something?" She asked half-joking. "What's in there?" "Nothing..." "Luna... Tell me." I whined acting like a child. "Something we need." She says quietly. "We?" I asked. "As in You and I. And we're getting it. Now shush." She says going back to placing books in the box.
