I woke up the next morning to the glorious smell of mooncakes. That reminded me, it was the 15th day of the 8th month! The Mid Autumn festival is today! I got dressed straight away, brushed my teeth, did my hair and packed my backpack for school. It was finally Friday and we are having dinner at the Dim sum restaurant downstairs, then coming back home for some mooncakes. Tonight we are having an early dinner so we can get the MTR to Central Hong Kong to watch the fire dragon dancing on the streets.

Mum took out a mooncake and said to me
" Sabrina, Ashley. It's the Mid Autumn festival, I baked mounds of mooncakes last night and here are some you can bring to school. You can eat one right now."
" thanks mum."
Ashley and I said together.
I chose a red bean paste mooncake because I wanted to save the lotus paste mooncakes for later tonight.

" I remember bringing these to school, mum made a batch of mooncakes the night before the festival and she'd give us four mooncakes each in a little container."
Said Ashley.
" Yeah, I do. I used to get a little knife from my lunch box and cut each mooncake into quarters to share with my friends. But then, Kelly and Kiara would take a piece of mooncake and smush it on the floor."
I said
" Why would they do such a thing to these precious cakes?"
Asked Ashley
" I don't know, they think I'm weird for liking salted egg yolk and cakes with sweet lotus paste as the filling that makes it so delicious."
I replied.

Then after we finished our mooncakes, Ashley and I walked to Kowloon station to get the train to school. I really hoped that mum packed mooncakes in my lunch box and I really hope there's the lotus paste and green tea ones too.
Mooncakes are just precious cakes that you share with your family and friends to celebrate the night of a full moon.

During lunchtime, I opened up my lunch box and I saw four mooncakes packed in there. I also found my little knife to cut these mooncakes. My friends Seleena and Mei also had mooncakes in their lunchboxes. I loved the char siu bao that was in my lunchbox. We decided to share mooncakes with each other. It was just a fun time sharing mooncakes with each other.

Time skip... After school, Seleena, Mei and I decided to go and get food before we were heading home.
" Where shall we go? "
Asked Seleena
" We should go to McDonald's or somewhere. Or maybe go and get bubble tea or egg waffles."
Said Mei
" well, why don't we just get food at the MTR station because I need to be home soon."
Said Seleena
We made our way to the MTR station.

" I'm gonna get some mooncakes, and get a bubble tea."
I said as I took $50 out of my purse
" I'm getting mooncakes as well."
Said Mei.
After we got boxes of mooncakes and got bubble tea, I threw the drink in the bin and went to the bathroom before we got on the train. Then, we scanned our octopus cards and took the escalators down to the platforms.

When we got downstairs, Mei went and I went to the same platform for the Tsuen Wan line. Seleena went to the other side for the Island line. When we got on the train, I took my phone out of my cute kitten backpack, and started texting Seleena.
Time skip.. When I got back home, Mum and Ashley were making mooncakes in the kitchen. I set my stuff down and washed my hands in the kitchen just in time to help mum make mooncakes.

" Sabrina, come try this new flavour of mooncake filling I made."
Said Mum
I went over and mum scooped a bit of the filling mixture onto a spoon for me to taste.
" I love this flavour, what makes this special? "
I asked
" This? It's date and red bean paste filling."
Explained mum.
" That's why it tastes so good."
Said Ashley.

When I showed mum the box of mooncakes I bought from Admiralty MTR station, she said
" So many mooncakes. You should give that box to our next door neighbours Mr and Mrs Yong."
Ashley took the box of mooncakes that I bought and brought it over to Mr and Mrs Yong next door.
When Ashley came back, she helped place the moonncakes into the boxes ready to be sold in the bakery tonight.
After each of the mooncakes were baked, we cooked them for a few hours and decides to sell the ones we made last night.

Ashley and I went downstairs to the bakery and put the mooncake boxes on the shelves and on the counter. Then we went back to our place to get changed for tonight's dinner. We went to the Dim Sum Chinese restaurant that we went to on the first night we arrived here in Hong Kong.

" Thanks girls for helping make mooncakes."
Said Mum
" your welcome, and thanks for dinner."
Ashley and I said together.
" And don't forget, we are getting the MTR to Central for the fire dragon dance."
Said Dad.

Time Skip... When we arrived in Central, The fire dragon dance started to begin with the loud and courageous drumming. Ashley and I took photos and looked at the big and beautiful full moon that was in the sky. Fireworks shot up in the sky like rockets full of joy and happiness during this special time. After the fire dragon dance parade and fireworks, we walked to the MTR station to get the train home. It was a ten minute walk from the bay side to the station.
